Trading in Minecraft depends heavily on Emeralds, but unfortunately, they’re hard to obtain in large quantities. However, by using world seeds to generate their custom worlds, players can ensure they have quick and easy access to this rare mineral. Emeralds can be obtained from many different sources, and you’ll need to use them all to start trading with Villagers and Wandering Traders.
Much like other rare minerals such as Diamonds, Emeralds spawn as ore blocks at certain levels, most commonly found at Level 232. However, Emerald Ore is the rarest ore in Minecraft and only spawns in small clusters of around 1-3 blocks each. As such, you’ll have to rely on many other sources, including Villager Trading and exploring structures such as ruins, temples, and shipwrecks.
10 Best Seeds For Diamonds In Minecraft 1.20
In Minecraft 1.20, players can use seeds to generate worlds with rich veins of Diamond Ore, giving them access to rare Diamonds for crafting gear.
10 The Double Mountain Peaks (Java)
Seed: -4995439071102080387
Found by user u/umotex12 on Reddit, this seed features easy access to Emerald Ore right from your spawn point. Within easy walking distance of the spawn point are two Villages and a cavern with more Emerald Ore, allowing you to start trading with the local Villagers. Trading with Villagers in Minecraft is one of the easiest ways to obtain Emeralds and other items, and you can often find some very favorable trades. Villagers will often willingly trade Emeralds for stacks of low-value items such as Rotten Flesh, a great way to dispose of otherwise useless items.
Nearby biomes also provide a wide variety of resources, including a swamp where you can start to breed Frogs in Minecraft. As a nice bonus, the mountain ranges off in the distance provide a striking and scenic backdrop for your Survival Mode adventures.
World seeds work differently between
Minecraft’s
Java and Bedrock Editions. Seeds that work in Java may generate different worlds without useful structures in Bedrock, and vice versa.
9 The Savannah Hills (Java)
Seed: 2692250354823654437
This seed spawns you on the outskirts of a picturesque village on a river heading straight out to sea. Off in the distance is a vast and hilly savannah biome with yet another village on the hillside. It’s arguably one of the best seeds for a Village start, and you’ll be able to take advantage of Villager trades to get some Emeralds early. However, you can also find Emerald Ore and other useful features, such as an incomplete Nether Portal, by exploring the savannah.
The terrain quickly gives way to steep and rocky hills with nodes of Emerald Ore you can mine. This is exactly the kind of terrain where Emerald Ore is most commonly found, so make sure to explore any areas like this one in other worlds you’ve created.
8 The Desert (Bedrock)
Seed: -1473095027369252977
Discovered by user u/Specialist-Bad-2983 on Reddit, this seed spawns you on the border between the desert and Badlands biomes. As with previous seeds, you can trade at the many villages scattered across the desert landscape, but more importantly, there are several Desert Temples you can explore for rare resources. Desert Temples typically contain dangerous traps and chests filled with loot, and seeds that are great for speedruns in Minecraft often feature similar generated structures.
Most importantly, chests in Desert Temples can contain Emeralds, and you can obtain even more with Minecraft’s new archaeology mechanics. By crafting and using a Brush, you can brush at suspicious sand blocks to reveal hidden items. Both Emeralds and Diamonds have a 12.5% chance of appearing when you brush blocks.
7 Stone And Gravel Hills (Bedrock)
Seed: 5698377278051284506
This seed features hills made of rock and gravel blocks, making it easy for you to spot and mine nodes of Emerald Ore. There are several nodes scattered across a wide area for eagle-eyed players to find, and a village off in the distance where you can trade. These hills and mountain ranges are also rich in other useful resources. You can find a network of vast caverns and caves that run deep enough to find plenty of levels with deposits of Iron, Redstone, and other minerals.
6 The Mountain Range (Java)
Seed: -98419106180651013 (Large Biomes)
Discovered by Reddit user u/UncondemnedSinner, this seed takes advantage of Minecraft Java Edition’s Large Biomes world generation feature. As the name suggests, toggling this on when generating a new world creates worlds with biomes that are far larger than those in standard maps. When used with this seed, world generation creates a steep mountain range rich with minerals including Emeralds.
This seed is somewhat unusual, as the world generation creates hills made from pure stone. There are dozens of individual nodes of Emerald Ore: far more than you would expect to see in worlds made without the Large Biomes option selected. It’s also rich in Iron and Gold Ore, and best of all, players can also trek down from the mountains to explore a vast jungle. It’s a great seed for Minecraft Survival Mode, as you and your friends have a steady supply of minerals from the mountains and access to the many resources that can be found in the depths of Minecraft’s lush jungles.
5 The Pillager Outpost (Java)
Seed: 125324
Found by Reddit user u/EdenSteden22, this seed has a Pillager Outpost at (2167, -3767) surrounded by a scenic landscape. The mountains surrounding the Outpost have several nodes of Emerald Ore you can mine, along with chunks of Coal and Iron Ore: everything you might need to craft Iron Armor, tools, and weapons.
Below the mountains is a vast meadow with a thriving lakeside Village that you can use to trade for even more Emeralds. This biome gives you plenty of space for setting up automated farms and any other creations you can dream of.

4 Snowcapped Mountains (Bedrock)
Seed: -6938094425307380543
This seed spawns you roughly halfway between a snowy mountain range rich with Emerald Ore and a peaceful meadow. The meadow has at least three separate Villages and a Pillager Outpost, all within walking distance of each other, making this one of the best seeds for Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition. With three villages you can visit, your chances of finding favorable trades are much higher, and you can embark on mining expeditions to the mountains.
Unfortunately, this requires you to cover a lot of ground, so you may want to learn how to breed and tame Horses in Minecraft. Specific resources such as Golden Carrots make the taming process much easier, and you should be able to source all of the necessary resources by farming Carrots and other crops and trading with Villagers.
3 Cherry Blossom Grove (Bedrock)
Seed: -2394468315228085694
This seed places you in a hills, mountains, and sinkholes-dominated landscape. By heading left from spawn, you can cross a mountain range to find vast caverns exposed to the sky and uncover a quaint village on the edge of a cherry blossom grove. This is one of the best seeds for the Cherry Blossom biome, and the mountains surrounding the village are rich in Emerald Ore.
The caves in this area extend for dozens of blocks underground, cutting across abandoned mineshafts and stretching all the way down to the Deep Dark biome. As such, this is also an excellent map for aspiring spelunkers looking to extract valuable resources from beneath the surface.
2 The Island (Java)
Seed: 4366347425703272898
There are many great Minecraft seeds for islands, and this seed from Reddit user u/PishPawsh is a particularly great example of the benefits of an island start. Your spawn point is in a savannah biome, providing you with useful basic resources such as wood for building a shelter. The stone hills at high elevations have easily accessible coal, Iron Ore, and Emerald Ore. You can also explore a shipwreck just offshore.
In Java Edition, loot chests on Shipwrecks can sometimes contain rare resources including Emeralds and Diamonds.
This seed is also one of the best Minecraft Ancient City seeds. If you’re willing to bend Minecraft’s longstanding rule against digging straight down, you can carve a path from spawn straight down to the Deep Dark to find an Ancient City right beneath your feet.
1 The Mountain Village (Bedrock)
Seed: 5050320454851297089
This seed from Reddit User u/YouAffectionate7881 features a village at (667,-248) surrounded by snowy mountain peaks with lots of Emerald Ore. The caverns on the outskirts of the village are particularly rich in Emeralds, and you can mine these to start trading with Villagers for resources. It’s a relatively secluded and isolated location in the middle of various biomes and might even make for an interesting starting point for a custom Adventure Mode map.
Below ground, players have access to a sprawling network of caverns that are sure to test even the most dedicated miners.
When mining Emeralds in Minecraft, you must adopt a much broader approach. In most seeds, mining Emeralds is generally an inefficient use of your time, tools, and other resources. Seeds with many generated structures, such as Desert Temples or Shipwrecks, will give you a much better headstart. Additionally, Villager Trading is likely to be your most reliable and consistent source of Emeralds in Minecraft, so make sure to trade lots and often.
