It won’t be long before we get eyes on Ted Lasso‘s Season 3 finale — and with it, we will finally (well, probably) have an answer as to whether this is truly the end for the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ comedy.
In the meantime, we’re operating under the assumption that Season 3, Episode 12 (releasing Wednesday, May 31 at midnight) will bring Ted Lasso, in its current form, to a close — and we have a few questions we’ll need answered before the Greyhounds step off the pitch. Some are serious, some are… not so serious. But they’re all valid.
Keep scrolling to review our burning questions, then hit the comments and tell us what answers you’re hoping to receive in the finale — especially if it winds up a series finale.
-
WILL TED LEAVE RICHMOND?
And is that the final truth bomb? Ted’s been questioning what he’s still doing in London since the opening minutes of Season 3. It was Henry who reminded his father that he’s there to “win the whole thing” — and the Greyhounds are just one win away from the Premier League title. His job is nearly complete.
-
IF TED GOES, DOES BEARD GO, TOO?
They’re kind of a package deal. And left to his own devices — see “Beard After Hours” — we’re not sure how long Beard would last without Ted by his side.
-
WHAT IS COACH BEARD’S FIRST NAME?
Sure, it’s not at the top of our list, but we’d still like an answer. (At the very least, we now know his backstory, which involves stealing a loaf of meth.)
-
WHO WILL REPLACE TED AS HEAD COACH?
Assuming Beard follows Ted out the door, that leaves Roy, who recently started subbing in for Ted at press conferences, and Nate, who was recently offered a second chance with AFC Richmond.
-
ARE ROY AND KEELEY ENDGAME?
Roy has been abundantly clear about his desire to resume their relationship. Keeley hasn’t weighed in one way or the other.
-
WHAT’S REBECCA’S HAPPILY EVER AFTER?
Will it involve romance with Sam or the Dutchman? And if the Dutchman is her “shite in nining armor,” will he suddenly reappear with his daughter and offer Rebecca the family she’s always wanted? Or…
-
WAS TISH A TOTAL KOOK?
Like Rebecca, we’ve all been led to believe that her mum’s psychic might be the real deal. But there’s still a chance that everything she told Rebecca was rubbish — that everything that’s happened since her reading was merely a coincidence, and the resolution to her storyline won’t involve anything Tish prophesied.
-
DID WILL HAVE A THREESOME IN AMSTERDAM?
Again, not super high up on our list of questions. But he told his mom, so we think we deserve to know.
-
WILL RUPERT GET PALPATINED?
We know Rupert’s office was modeled after the Emperor’s Throne Room on the second Death Star, as seen in Return of the Jedi. And if Mr. Mannion is Ted Lasso‘s Emperor Palpatine, it’d stand to reason that he’d eventually be done in by his creation — or, perhaps, a mess of his own creation. Just last week, Bex and Ms. Kakes showed up at Rebecca’s doorstep in need of her advice — and we know there’d been rumblings about “inappropriate workplace behavior” inside London Stadium.
-
WILL JAMIE RECONNECT WITH HIS FATHER?
Does James Tartt deserve a second chance? Will he get one? In Season 3’s penultimate episode, we watched as he cheered his son on from rehab.
-
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR SAM?
Will Sam ever get the chance to play football for Nigeria? Was Edwin Akufo only kidding when he threatened to drive Ola’s out of business? And if he doesn’t wind up with Rebecca, what are the chances something happens between Sam and Simi?
-
WHAT IS IN BARBARA’S DESK DRAWER?
Again, not super important, but… c’mon! Whatever it was, she didn’t want Keeley or Jack to see it.
-
WHAT WILL BECOME OF TRENT’S BOOK?
And what sort of role might it have in the final episode? Ted Lasso wouldn’t be the first comedy to reveal that what we saw was shaped in part by a writer’s perspective.
-
HOW MANY RETURNING CHARACTERS CAN THEY SQUEEZE INTO ONE EPISODE?
If this is the end, we’ll need to say a proper goodbye to Phoebe, Sassy, Nora, Ola and Mrs. Higgins. (Are we forgetting anyone?)
-
HOW LONG WILL THE FINALE BE?
Multiple Season 3 episodes have run longer than an hour, with the penultimate episode clocking in at a whopping 70 minutes. With so many loose ends to tie up, is there any way this thing will be under an hour and a half?
