Apple TV+ has released a first trailer for “Steve! (martin) a documentary in two pieces,” with the comic actor himself plus stars including Tina Fey, Martin Short, and Jerry Seinfeld.

First announced in 2022, the new two-part documentary begins streaming from March 29, 2024. The film directed by Oscar-winning documentary maker, Morgan Neville, covers Martin’s longstanding career as an actor, comedian, and musician, and does so with two distinct focuses.

“My whole life is backwards,” says Martin in the trailer. “How did I go from riddled with insecurity in my 30s, to 75 and really happy?”

One of the two parts is called “Then,” and Apple says it “chronicles Steve Martin’s early struggles and meteoric rise to revolutionize standup before walking away at 35.” The other part is called “Now” and is about the present day, “with Steve Martin in the golden years of his career, retracing the transformation that led to happiness in his art and personal life.”

Having started on “SNL” in the 1970s, Martin is still performing. He is shortly to start in a fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building,” the hit comedy drama he co-created John Hoffman.
