Singapore Airlines to Launch Enhanced Premium Economy Experience

Singapore Airlines has announced that it will be launching an improved premium economy experience, starting March 31, 2024.

With the upcoming enhancements, the Singapore-based Star Alliance carrier will be improving upon and expanding its selection of food and beverage options for passengers in the cabin, and a new amenity kit will be offered as well.

Singapore Airlines to Launch Enhanced Premium Economy Experience

As of March 31, 2024, Singapore Airlines will be enhancing its premium economy offerings by launching a number of soft product initiatives.

Enhanced Food Selection

First and foremost, the airline will be expanding the cabin’s food and beverage offerings, after having developed over 200 new appetizers, main courses, and desserts.

The bread selection will be upgraded to include croissants for breakfast, and garlic bread rolls for lunch, dinner, and supper.

Meanwhile, new appetizers to be introduced include garlic roasted prawns with smoked aioli, patatas bravas (Spanish fried potatoes), broccoli salad with hot smoked salmon, and seasonal variations of Japanese cold noodles with soba sauce.

For the main course, passengers can select from two premium options – either international or Asian cuisine – on every flight.

New dishes to be offered include the following:

  • Beef bourguignon served with bacon, mushrooms, vegetables, and potato gratin
  • Bak chor mee (minced pork noodles)
  • Thai-style crab curry served with a combination of jasmine rice and brown rice, and seasonal vegetables with egg

In addition to the main courses offered onboard, premium economy passengers can select from an expanded Book the Cook selection of 20 dishes on rotation.

As a reminder, Book the Cook allows premium cabin passengers to choose their main courses ahead of their flight. It’s worth noting that Singapore Airlines is one of the only carriers to offer such a service to premium economy passengers.

Nasi lemak from Book the Cook service

To wrap up meals on a sweet note, an exclusive dessert selection will be offered to premium economy passengers consisting of treats such as chocolate feuilletine cake, mascarpone cream cake, and apple crumble cheesecake. Desserts are accompanied by a small bar of chocolate, as well as upgraded cheese and crackers.

In sum, premium economy meals will consist of a seasonal appetizer, a main course, bread, dessert, and cheese and crackers, all served on a full-sized tray.

Enhanced Premium Economy Beverage List

Another enhancement to be introduced is Champagne service, which is a rare treat for premium economy passengers.

Shortly after take off, passengers will be offered a glass of Charles de Cazanove Brut Tradition NV Champagne, whilst they peruse the menu printed on cardboard, which is another rarity in premium economy.

Champagne will continue to be offered during mealtime, complemented by an enhanced wine list consisting of new offerings, such as the 2023 Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc and the 2022 St Hallett Faith Shiraz.

An extensive selection of spirits, including whisky, gin, vodka, signature cocktails like the Singapore Sling, and a variety of beers, will likewise be available.

For non-alcoholic beverages, peppermint and chamomile teas, as well as hot chocolate from Cadbury, will be added to the current selection.

New Premium Economy Amenity Kit

Lastly, Out of the Woods, a US-based eco-friendly brand, will be furnishing the new amenity kits in Singapore Airlines premium economy.

The amenity kit is made out of eco-friendly kraft paper fabric, and inside are eyeshades and slippers made from recycled PET material.

Rounding up the kits’ contents is a lip balm packaged in biodegradable material.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Class Routes

Singapore Airlines offers premium economy on medium- to long-haul flights on Airbus A350-900LH, Airbus A350-900UL, Airbus A380, and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Currently, the following routes out of Singapore (SIN) offer premium economy:

  • Australia (Melbourne and Sydney)
  • China (Beijing and Shanghai)
  • Denmark (Copenhagen)
  • France (Paris)
  • Germany (Frankfurt and Munich)
  • Hong Kong SAR
  • India (Delhi and Mumbai)
  • Italy (Milan and Rome)

Singapore Airlines premium economy flights can be booked through the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program, based upon Saver and Advantage redemption tables, akin to dynamic pricing.

Every month, the program comes up with a promotion called Spontaneous Escapes, which discounts certain routes in select cabins.

For example, you can fly between New York (JFK) and Frankfurt in either direction for 36,400 KrisFlyer miles in premium economy with Spontaneous Escapes pricing, which is down from the 52,000 miles it would otherwise cost on a “Saver” rate.

While Singapore Airlines is renowned for its outstanding business class, First Class, and Suites Class products, be sure to consider premium economy, too, especially with the upcoming enhancements.

Conclusion

Singapore Airlines is enhancing its premium economy soft product by introducing an expanded food and beverage selection, as well as a new amenity kit. Notably, Champagne will be offered – a rarity among premium economy products.

The improvements will be rolled out starting March 31, 2024.
