Jake Gyllenhaal’s Upcoming Remake Of $221 Million Harrison Ford Thriller Movie Just Got Far More Exciting

Summary

  • Fans of Jake Gyllenhaal have reason to be excited about his upcoming projects, with positive reviews surrounding the Road House remake.
  • Gyllenhaal’s ability to take on iconic roles previously portrayed by Hollywood stars proves his versatility as an actor.
  • Despite his successful film career, Gyllenhaal is now venturing into television with the Presumed Innocent show, set to be released on Apple TV+.

Jake Gyllenhall will star in a remake of a classic $221 million Harrison Ford movie later this year, and it just got much more exciting considering his performance in a different role about to be released. Early reviews of Gyllenhaal’s role in the remake of Road House have been positive overall after many people wondered why cult classic Road House was being remade in the first place. Considering it looks like the film and Gyllenhaal’s performance in the movie were both well-received, his ambitious Apple TV+ project, Presumed Innocent, could be his next remake to earn glowing reviews.

Presumed Innocent
is currently scheduled to be released on Apple TV+ on June 14, 2024.

Road House will release widely on Prime Video on Wednesday, March 20, but its 72% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score proves those who have already seen the movie generally like it. When the cast and details of Road House were released, there was a general sense of hesitation that the popular 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze did not need to be remade. However, the plot and performances by Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor fuel a seemingly strong story supported by intense and innovative fight sequences. These first reviews for the film provide more hope for Gyllenhaal’s next project.

Road House Remake’s Positive Reviews Make Jake Gyllenhaal’s Presumed Innocent Show More Promising

After the positive early reviews of Road House, fans of Jake Gyllenhall won’t have to wait long before his next project hits the small screen. He has another remake coming up this year with Presumed Innocent television show on Apple TV+. Presumed Innocent is based on a 1987 novel by Scott Turow about the murder of a prosecuting attorney named Carolyn Polhemus. The novel was famously adapted into a thriller movie starring Harrison Ford that was released in 1990 and also starred Brian Dennehy and Bonnie Bedelia.

Jake Gyllenhall plays ex-UFC fighter Dalton in his latest role, and has been praised for his role in the Road House remake. This should be taken as a considerably strong sign that he can also do well remaking another classic from the 1989-1990 era of cinema. He will have larger shoes to fill with Presumed Innocent, considering Presumed Innocent is one of Harrison Ford’s most compelling dramatic roles, but Gyllenhaal is no stranger to high expectations. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain and starred in Nightcrawler which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay in 2014.

Road House & Presumed Innocent Confirm A Huge Truth About Jake Gyllenhaal’s Career

Despite a period of time around 2008-2012 when Jake Gylenhaal did not take many roles, he is still on the short list of some of the true “movie stars” we still have today. Gyllenhaal has not been afraid to take on iconic parts played by huge 1980s and 1990s action stars and his performance in Road House proves he can do them well. Very few actors are willing to repeatedly try to step into roles that some of the most beloved Hollywood actors of the last 20 years have played, but Jake Gylenhaal has been unafraid to take them on.

Jake Gyllenhaal has played many memorable characters over the last 25 years.

As the list of true movie stars dwindles, Jake Gylanhaal’s popularity remains, and he will now look to parlay that into television with Presumed Innocent.
