Olivia Baker’s desire to do the right thing while supporting her loved ones was her central storyline in All American seasons 4 and 5, and she found a way to do it through the secret identity of Jayden Davis. Olivia’s pursuit as a journalist directly affected the people closest to her, but she was determined to chase her dreams, tell the truth, and seek justice for those who have been wronged. Unfortunately for Jordan Baker and Spencer James, Olivia’s target in season 5 was their football coach — Coach Garrett.
Olivia discovered that Coach Garrett had created a bounty system that rewarded his players for targeting (and injuring) members of the opposing team. So, she gathered her sources and wrote an article that exposed his nefarious behavior. The only problem that remained was how Olivia’s report on the matter would affect the people around her in All American season 5, and her solution was Jayden Davis.
Jayden Davis Is Really Olivia
Writers use aliases all the time, whether it’s songwriters, novelists, journalists, or anything in between. Sometimes, people don’t want their names attached to their work, and it could be for a number of reasons. Olivia chose to use this strategy to bring Coach Garrett’s wrongful actions to light in an article titled “Bountygate Strikes GAU” by Jayden Davis in the LA Tribune. Jayden Davis is Olivia in All American.
Unfortunately, writing under a pseudonym also came with a glaring consequence for Olivia. Her bountygate article got nominated for a prestigious journalism award, but Jayden Davis, who doesn’t exist, was getting all the credit for it. Because no one knew that Olivia was the person who actually wrote the article, she didn’t get invited to the award ceremony. So she made a tough decision — she attended the ceremony as Olivia Baker and revealed that she was the one who wrote the article in All American season 5, and she won the award.
Why Olivia Made Up Jayden Davis For Her Article
The reason why Olivia used Jayden Davis as an alias in All American season 5 was that she wanted to protect Jordan and Spencer. Since they were a part of Coach Garrett’s football team, and they were directly tied to Olivia, she thought it was best to remove her name from the article. Of course, Olivia later came out and disclosed that she was Jayden Davis, but she did what she thought was the right thing to do in the moment.
Unfortunately, Jayden Davis wasn’t able to fully protect Jordan and Spencer from the fallout of Coach Garrett’s terrible bounty strategy. But it seemed like the only solution to an awful situation. Going forward, Olivia has likely left Jayden Davis behind in All American.
