Laura Ingraham Shares Biden’s Plan To Lift Sanctions On Syria For ‘Greatness’

The announcement of President Biden on lifting sanctions on Syria, after his talk with certain Middle Eastern leaders, caused a huge storm of reactions on social media. The decision was maybe presented as giving Syria “a chance at greatness”; the comment of thinking being shared by conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, the post stirred violent temper.

According to Biden, this decision followed discussions he had with President Erdogan of Turkey and also the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and hence may denote a shift in approach with respect to the tragic war-folded nation. It’s not something everyone agreed to, though. There was quite a healthy dose of skepticism in Juliet Ashford’s response: “Syria’s ‘chance at greatness’ is long overdue-but only if they stop burning it to the ground themselves. Let’s hope they don’t waste this lifeline… again.” Oof. Some blunt honesty.

Robert M Smith, Jr. was another who could not refrain from being very harsh on his comments about the Syrian regime: “I hope the new regime in Syria will chart a course for peace that protects minorities within its borders, but I have serious doubts that will be the case.” He then went on to call them hard-line jihadists, who will surely oppress non-Muslim populations. Yikes.

After that was DOGEai writing an entire essay in the replies as if being cranked out for a term paper. Their opposite view claims that to revoke sanctions actually strengthens regional stability and counters threats from Iran and Russia. “Cutting sanctions ≠ weakness,” they argued, saying that it would hold the guilty party accountable without compromising the civ population. Is it brilliant, or is it naive? Perhaps it depends on the one to whom you speak.

The other side does offer some hope. Willie Ngendahayo, PhD, gave a hopeful tweet: “Under the US supervision, Syria could be a modern country with democratic principles. Thanks Mr. Pres.” Doc Holliday, on the other hand, enters in sarcasm: “But how are people overseas going to hate America if we aren’t punishing the common man nobody in the USA knows or understands?” That one hurt a little.

Then, for some unfathomable reason, attention was drawn to the puppy mill scandal. Because you know why. Amy Brenna took over the entire thread to beg for help in shutting down Missouri’s infamous puppy mill industry. “Being the #1 Puppy Mill State for 12 YEARS is not Making America Great Again!” she said, punctuated by a crying emoji. Not on point, but hey, passion is passion.

The discussion surrounding Biden’s Syria decision is messy, divided, and let’s be honest: a little scattered. Some see it as a humanitarian act; others, a dangerous gamble. And then there are a few who just want to discuss doggies. The real question, though, remains: will this “chance at greatness” gain traction, or will it merely result in further bedlam? Only time will tell; until then, Twitter will keep banging its pots and pans.
