The View Promotes Weekend Special As Replies Take Unexpected Political Turn

The View has an ongoing promotion-of-the-weekend programming with the promise of unrestricted laughter dotted along the whole weekend on The Weekend View on ABC News Live. Official language for the show smacked of bright entertainment, but the comments gradually tested the waters of the political domain and came up with some rather bizarre hot takes.

The original tweet followed up with a very colorful graphic displaying the smiling faces of the hosts with the words “The laughs are endless!” and how to stream the show. Pretty generic stuff really for a friendly weekend edition of a daytime talk show. However, let there be no doubt: the comment section of The View never stays on the light side of life for very long.

Ms. Renee Smith was on the positive side proclaiming, “You are right; the laughs are truly endless on your show,” followed by a giggle emoji. At least one person was buying what The View was selling. But others… not really.

Tom gave his opinion, one filled with contempt: “Turn your TV into a garbage can and your mind into trash. Watch The View.” Ouch. Next-level hatred goes down! The View has never been an exhibition of mild thoughts; people either love it with all they’ve got or hate it with equal fervor.

Politicization came in a roar. MFL replied, referring to the recent Biden audio controversies: “Hey ladies-cant wait till you explain away the audio of Biden today interview about his tapes in the garage and other places.” The View has never been afraid of political discourse, so it is not surprising that people are wondering about how the hosts will navigate current events.

In his own weird way, Dennis Sanders alleged that “sonny husband” equates with insurance fraud and somebody is “pro slavery.” At best, the tweet was confusing, demonstrating how sometimes the comment section turns into a dumping ground for random political grievances.

The FJC account then went off on a complete tangent about James Comey purportedly finding shell formations on a beach. Because when you think of The View, you obviously think of… FBI directors at the shore? Sure.

StarmerOut threw in the most random reply by bizarrely pivoting to sanctions against South Africa. Because nothing says “daytime talk show promo” like international economic policy!

This disorganized melange of replies could most certainly serve as an apt metaphoric representation for The View on the pop culture circuit. They’ve been stirring the pot behind this show for 27 seasons now, and the reactions it generates are as unpredictable as the show talks anyway at any given time. Love it or hate it, the people cannot stop discussing it-even when the original tweet was just promoting some weekend laughter.

The Weekend View returns on ABC News Live with their infamous humor and hot takes this Saturday and Sunday. However, judging from the responses, the comment section might be the greater show. And if you limp into a View discussion with any expectations, you are bound to be taken for a whirl off an unexpected direction.
