A snippet of Burna Boy’s unreleased record, TaTaTa, at-home was put up online, instigating so much noise across the internet of those who say the song is an instant banger and the others say it was lacking. The debate began after Twitter handle MBAH posted a short clip of the song, with the caption: “This app won’t survive the heat when Burna finally drops TaTaTa,” and people really had THOUGHTS.

So, the hype came first: THAT PH CITY BOY had fun joking, “A new generation will be conceived to this song,” while listener BinkeBLVCK insisted: “Drop the damn jam already Burna, I nor go lie, gbedu waka.” Already the discussion has drifted quite seriously into how this jam would fit into one’s playlist. Juiceyy99: wasn’t much of a Burner, but that Snippet-Ateeeeeee: shame from the earlier global jams of Burna.
The second group, with receipts! SuLeX: “Wetin come be TaTaTa again… No substance at all,” and many others agreed with the track’s lack of direction. Nkem Cynthia said: “This song no just get any direction.” Then engrpopey delivered a counter attack: “Man fell off, just like your hair.” Ouch!
Things got heated as some people came into the fray, reminding everyone of former statements Burna had made regarding Afrobeat not having substance. One user called Ade retorted, “Same person wey talk say Afrobeat no get substance hmmmmmm,” while another critic, seyi_frosh, dragged the artist: “No be this Ugly Ape talk say Afrobeat got no substance… now wetin be dis?”
Amidst the chaos, a few kept worrying about one thing: are we even listening to the song in its final form? Francis Kevin inquired, “This same song I Dey listen to? Abi original version go soon drop?” Others were making plans, however, as John_Jr_17 joked, “I go dey use the song dey tell Person ‘Taa’ with Voice Note on WhatsApp.”
And then the snippet just reignited the never-ending battle between Burna and Davido, with one user, QuilCraftedWord, declaring, “I am tired of listening to Davido rubbish,” with others like korede__0 firing back: “We no want this people again… leave only Davido alone.”
If there ever was a time to lose hope in the new song of Burna Boy, that time is far removed now. The question is floating: Would TaTaTa live up to the hype, or would it just be a gargantuan flop? One thing is for sure, though. It’s all eyes on him, and whenever history argues on his behalf, Burna Boy does better in chaos. So, let’s say maybe-friendly sparring is right where he wants to be.
Side note: Can’t we please get a little conversation around this random OPay refund demand in the replies? Sir, this is a music discussion… not a customer care line. Priorities, fellas.
