As if the first two movies hadn’t introduced enough Spider-People, Marvel fans will see even more in the upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Before then, filmgoers can first check out the second installment of the trilogy with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse now playing in theaters. That follows the incredibly successful Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which kicked off the series with its launch in theaters in 2018.
Oscar Isaac is someone who has a role in the new film as Spider-Man 2099, previously debuting as “Interesting Person No. 1” in the previous film. The actor was asked in an interview with GQ about who he’d like to see come into the fold by voicing a new Spidey in Beyond the Spider-Verse. He doesn’t think the filmmakers exactly need any help with the casting, given how much they’ve nailed the characters so far, but he still wanted to throw Pedro Pascal’s name into the web. As Isaac said:
“I don’t know. They’re so brilliant at finding the right person for the right character, but maybe Pedro Pascal. Let’s find something for him. He should be a Spider-Person, like a cranky, old Spider-Person.”
Isaac also addressed voicing Miguel O’Hara in the movie. While the film is filled with Spider-People all throughout, Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099 stands out in a way that the actor appreciates, as he also goes on to note.
“Yeah, he’s got this particular unique quality to him, but there are lots of things about him that I think are very surprising and make him such his own thing. The fangs and claws and this violence that’s simmering underneath at all times? He’s just a really interesting character.”
What’s Coming Next for Pedro Pascal?
There will be many fans who’d agree that Pedro Pascal should join Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, feeling that the beloved actor’s presence would make any movie or TV series better. He is currently one of Hollywood’s most popular stars, having garnered immense praise for his role as Din Djarin in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian. Pascal has also impressed fans with his starring role alongside Bella Ramsey in the HBO series The Last of Us, which has a second season in development.
There are other upcoming projects that will feature Pascal. He was recently cast for a main role in the next movie from Zach Cregger, who helmed the hit horror movie Barbarian. He is also attached to star in the upcoming series My Dentist’s Murder Trial, which will also feature Stranger Things actor David Harbour. The project is reportedly in development at HBO, and both Pascal and Harbour are executive producing.
Meanwhile, Pascal can also be seen in the new short film Strange Way of Life. From director Pedro Almodovar, the film stars Pascal alongside Ethan Hawke as two former lovers who reunite in the Old West under unusual circumstances. The movie premiered at Cannes and will have a wider release later this year.
