Speaking with People at the Ed Asner & Friends Celebrity Poker Night, Handler talks about his excitement over Cattrall’s comeback in And Just Like That. He re-emphasizes reports that Sam’s cameo will be isolated, which means that she won’t have any interactions with any of the other characters. Read his full quote below:

“I think it is great. I do. Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody, so the only place I have to welcome her is into my living room when it airs on television,”

Why Samantha’s And Just Like That Cameo Could Be Disappointing

It’s no secret that Cattrall was against reprising her role as Sam in And Just Like That. There were several cited reasons for her refusal to be involved, but the biggest one was her public feud with Sarah Jessica Parker. Specific details that resulted in her decision to partake in And Just Like That season 2 are still being kept under wraps. However, it doesn’t seem like it should be taken as an indication that she has patched things up with her Sex and the City co-star given the nature of her cameo.

Seeing Sam back in And Just Like That season 2 is no doubt exciting. However, it may ultimately be disappointing given the specifics of her appearance. While the scene will see her on the phone with Carrie, establishing that their friendship remains strong as ever, there won’t be any proper reunion for them, alongside Miranda and Charlotte. If anything, it may even just highlight how much the show is missing Sam’s presence, especially since Cattrall is only confirmed to have one scene in the sequel.

Whether there will be any more appearances for Cattrall’s Sam in And Just Like That moving forward is currently unknown. That being said, this certainly opens up the possibilities for additional cameos for her in the future. Sadly, this may be the extent of her involvement on the show, considering her complicated relationship with her former cast mates.
