Was Next Gen NYC star Brooks Marks‘ creative director gig with his mom dunzo? During the show, Brooks has expressed the importance of wanting to step out of his parents shadow. Not only does he work for his mom, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City OG Meredith Marks, but he’s also busy building his own brand. And with all that multitasking to better his future, Brooks might have let something slip through the cracks for his mom’s company. So, did Meredith end up firing Brooks for his misstep?

No, Brooks Marks wasn’t fired by mom Meredith Marks, but he did think it had happened when he got a long text telling him what he had done was wrong.
Brooks has had quite the debut on the show. He’s the real number one guy in the group and is sharpening up his confrontation skills against the show’s villain, Charlie Zakkour. And when he’s not bringing everyone together, Brooks is busy hanging out with his new man or working.
During Episode 5, we learned more about his working relationship with his mom. When the two were out shopping for her upcoming caviar party, Brooks casually mentioned they had a “tumultuous” working relationship.
Meredith thought things were just fine. Brooks countered, “Are you kidding me? You fired me last week.” Sounds a bit tumultuous to me!
She then went into mom mode and asked Brooks to share the whole story. Brooke explained his snafu was missing an email, which resulted in a delay with her products being shipped. Oop.
Brooks shared it’s challenging working for his mom while also trying to build his own brand. The struggle is real. Meredith then cleared it up. She said, “I didn’t really fire you.” Brooks responded, “You said, ‘Find a new job by the end of this month.’”
Then Brooks read a page-long text message Meredith had sent him as to why she was upset. Brooks thought it was warranted but added, “It wasn’t appropriate.” He did not want to “decimate” any relationship he had with her.
However, Meredith reassured him all was well. At least until the next missed email…
