Whether it’s a self-discovery adventure, a relaxing switch off or a mini city break, more and more tourists are travelling solo.
However, solo tourists will often have to take more precautions when they travel and may need to do a little more research.

It also has some incredible attractions. From bustling cities such as Tokyo and Osaka to natural beauty spots like Hokkaido, tourists will be spoilt for choice.
One of the country’s top-rated attractions, The Hakone Open Air Museum, is an amazing sculpture park with art from all over the world.
One tourist ‘Tina P’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “The number and quality of the sculptures is so great. This is truly a beautiful place.”
In Europe, the safest destination for solo travellers was Switzerland, which has a very low crime rate.
Slovenia and Croatia took second and third place on the list and could be combined into one longer trip.
The two countries have several incredible sights of natural beauty while tourists will find prices lower than in the UK.
