With Superman currently raking it in at the domestic box office, all eyes are now shifting over to the DCU’s next projects. The David Corenswet-led movie has been a hit with critics and audiences and smashed domestic box office records (even if its international box office figures have been its kryptonite). Supergirl is next up to bat, releasing in theaters on June 26, 2026, and DCU fans are expecting similar success from that movie. While DC Studios wants future films to emulate Superman‘s success, they won’t be imitating its visual and tonal style. James Gunn recently addressed the future of the DCU, and he’s doubling down on one of his earliest and most exciting promises for the future of the franchise.
