With the end of Fast & Furious in sight, Gal Gadot is more than happy to have been brought back for Fast X. Gadot first appeared in the franchise in 2009’s Fast & Furious as Gisele Yashar, but her character met a grisly end in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. In her final moments, he managed to save Han’s life while falling out of the air in an infamous scene that truly enshrined both Gisele and Gadot in Fast & Furious history. Gisele’s story might have ended there, but Fast X gave Gadot the chance to reprise her role and say her farewell to the franchise.
There has been speculation for years about Gisele’s potential survival, but Gadot’s appreciation comes less from the resurrection of Gisele and more from her joy at returning to the franchise at all. In an interview with Total Film, Gadot explained how touched she was to return for Fast X. Check out her quote below, via GamesRadar:
“Wow. I wish I could say something. If I’m going to say something to you, somebody is going to jump into my room and tie my mouth. But Fast was the first feature I’d ever done as an actress. They were the ones to give me my first opportunity, my first break in Hollywood. And I’m forever grateful for that. And they’re a community. They’re like family. We still keep in touch. They have a special place in my heart and it’s very exciting. I think that the Fast Saga… they manage to create a huge, incredible, loyal fanbase like no one else. I’ve seen it nowhere [else], you know? And my love to them, and the love from the fans, and my love to the fans, it just felt right this time. And it’s very exciting.”
Despite making her name as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman, Gadot’s love for the Fast & Furious franchise continues to ring through today. Having gotten her start as a major Hollywood actor, thanks to Fast & Furious, it’s no wonder she continues to love the films and fans alike.
How Fast X Brought Back Iconic Cast Members
Gal Gadot isn’t the only Fast & Furious cast member to be brought back for Fast X. As the franchise draws to a close, it has been returning many of its most recognizable cast members — even in spite of assurances and promises that some would never appear again. The three-part finale to Fast & Furious has only just begun, and it has already reintroduced Gadot and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
It isn’t likely that Fast & Furious stops after Fast X‘s cameos either. Diesel has already hinted that Fast 11 will offer Brian O’Conner a true goodbye after the untimely and tragic death of Paul Walker during the production of Furious 7. While Diesel hasn’t confirmed how O’Conner will be making his return, it is another sign of the cast and crew’s dedication to honoring all members of the cast however they can.
Fast X isn’t just bringing back familiar actors and characters either. The film also establishes close thematic ties to earlier movies, specifically by drawing on Fast 5 through Dante Reyes. The vengeful and vicious son of Hernan Reyes himself, Dante has become a clever way to bring Fast & Furious to a close, while also looping back to the elements that made the franchise successful in the first place. These loops allow the Fast & Furious movies to lead to a fitting conclusion, while also giving Gadot and other stars the opportunity to say a proper farewell to a truly mind-blowing series of films.
