The lighthearted episode stirred so much nostalgia for the Ocaks at the White House.

In the lighthearted segment of ’14 Questions for Couples’ in the podcast, Michelle and Barack answer questions about who apologizes first after fights (Barack), more romantic (Barack), who takes longer to get ready (Michelle) and lots more interesting details about their marriage. The Instagram teaser for the episode asked followers to guess their favorite guest so far; Barack Obama was obviously the answer.

The post went viral within minutes, most of the comments reminiscing about how much they miss the Obamas at the White House. One person said, “A normal, kind, intelligent, and happy couple in the White House… I miss that soooooo much!!!” Many other comments shared the same sentiment, saying, “You wrote so right and true” and “I was thinking that whilst I was watching and smiling.”

People started to imagine Barack being a little grumpy early in the morning. “The thought of Barack grumpy in the morning is making me laugh so hard,” said one user. Others responded with, “He seems like a night person to me” and “The man has carried the weight of the world on like 4 hours of sleep for 8 years.”

And then the international fans chimed in, “Even all the way from EU I miss you two in office. Greatest USA president and first lady of my lifetime!” Another famous German commenter added in their native language, translated as, “Even we in Germany miss you.”

Some surprises about their relationship emerged in the comments. They were shocked to find that Michelle is the funny one: “Never would have thought Michelle was the funny one. Love the dynamics here.” Others who have read Michelle’s books contradicted one side: “If you’ve read her books or listen to her a lot, you’ll know she’s the orator and the funny one between them.”

The lighthearted duo completely clicked, obviously resonating quite well. Toward the mellow nostalgic end came one comment yelling out, “Mom, dad can you come pick me up,” with others joining in saying, “Fr tho.” There is nostalgic darkness in the lust of Americans for their leadership. Another added, “Not President Obama dressed like he’s on an extended vacation. Sir, come get US! We’ll be good. We PROMISE!”

Nevertheless, there were also a few differing opinions. One cruelly described them as “the reason we’re here and still struggling while they made black folks believe in B.S.” Another started with some substance but eventually got shut down by others. These negative comments, however, were an exceedingly small minority in comparison to expressions of love and nostalgic longing.

Long after exiting power, the Obamas hold a deep affection among the masses, with such relatable moments from their marriage keeping them relevant even to date. As one comment said: “Exemplary couple! True role models.” This huge response undoubtedly proves how many still regard the Obamas as epitomes of dignity, humor and partnership in public life.

The reason this podcast episode is viewed as “hit a nerve” is that it brought out the very human qualities of a very private couple. Their willingness to share snippets of their marriage, with tact and humor, has endeared them to the nation long after their exit from the White House. Whether they are talking about which one was messier or who took longer to get ready, the Obamas say the former President and First Lady are just like everybody else-whoever-that-may-be in the common social circles.
