Chris Hemsworth Describes Meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger as a ‘Dream Come True’

Bumping into fellow action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger was a surreal experience for Chris Hemsworth. On Saturday, both Schwarzenegger and Hemsworth were in Brazil to promote their respective Netflix projects – Schwarzenegger’s FUBAR and Hemsworth’s Extraction 2 – at the streamer’s TUDUM event. Ahead of the festivities, Hemsworth had ventured to a gym to get in a workout, and he happened to bump into Schwarzenegger, who apparently had the same idea. Hemsworth later shared an image of the meeting on Instagram.

“Ya never know who you’ll bump into at the gym! What a dream to train with the one and only,” Hemsworth says in the caption of his post.

“Look at how pumped you are. The delts. The triceps,” Schwarzenegger responded in the comments section, which also included replies from celebs like Scott Eastwood, Serena Williams, and Hemsworth’s own brother Luke noting their jealousy.

Hemsworth spoke more about the meeting in a chat with People. While Hemsworth has become a huge star in his own right, through his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other films, he’s not above getting starstruck by certain heroes of his. He noted to People how it felt like a “dream come true” when he saw the Terminator star.

“I don’t know what it was like for them to run into us,” Hemsworth explained. “But it was kind of a dream come true.”

Arnold and Chris Hemsworth’s Netflix Elevator Ride Was Just Movie Magic

Recently, Netflix released a promo video featuring both actors sharing an elevator while Schwarzenegger pitched one-liners to Hemsworth. In reality, the two actors were never in the same room, or even the same country, as they filmed their respective dialogue in front of a green screen. That meant that the two still wouldn’t meet for the very first time until that moment at the gym in Brazil, which was very “special” for Hemsworth.

“We were on green screens in separate countries,” Hemsworth says. “So to work out with him, meet him… [he was] as gracious and kind as I’d hoped. It was a pretty special moment.”

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger would also hop on Twitter to share another photo from the meeting, noting in his own tweet, “First we get our pump, then we go pump up the fantastic fans in Brazil, [Chris Hemsworth]. See you all at Netflix Tudum 2023.”

At TUDUM, Hemsworth announced that Extraction 2‘s success had pleased Netflix so much that talks have already started for a third installment of the action movie series. Meanwhile, there’s more to come from Schwarzenegger at Netflix as well, as the actor told fans at the event. He revealed that his new action-comedy series FUBAR has been renewed for a second season, and he teased that there will be more action along with more humor to come in season 2.

You can see the latest from both Schwarzenegger and Hemsworth at Netflix, which streams the former’s series FUBAR and the latter’s new film Extraction 2.
