A relaunch of the franchise, following the release of the last film, Final Destination 5, in 2011, Final Destination Bloodlines brought the series to a new audience in a big way, almost reaching the greatness of the first film. In Will Sayre’s review of Bloodlines for MovieWeb, he touted it as being a successful relaunch, stating, “Bloodlines succeeds by paying homage to the previous films’ more iconic sequences, weaving in a stupendous cameo from the late, great Tony Todd and building on the franchise with a couple of nifty twists and bloody turns.” Final Destination Bloodlines is streaming on August 1.

‘Freaky Tales’ (2025)

New Pedro Pascal Film Streaming on August 8

Read Our Review

Set in 1987 Oakland, California, Freaky Tales presents four interconnected stories that capture the culture of the era. Included is the story of teen punks fighting off Nazis from their turf, an aspiring rapping duo looking to make their mark, a former criminal forced to get dirty to protect his family, and an NBA star who gains powers to help fight off a gang raiding his home.

Pedro Pascal may be feeling the heat of some meme-induced jabs on his recent promotional tour for Fantastic Four: First Steps, but his mere presence will always be a selling point for the majority of audiences. Here, Pascal gives one of his most entertaining performances to date as a nuanced antihero with charisma in abundance. Overall, Freaky Tales is an inventive anthology that blends elements of action, comedy, horror, and thriller with a wonderful ensemble cast playing eccentric characters. Freaky Tales is streaming on August 8.

The Top 3 Fantasy Movies of All Time (According to Rotten Tomatoes) Couldn’t Be More Different

Do you agree, are these the best fantasy movies ever made? (Probably not.)

Great dark fantasy movies are rare, so when a new one appears in theaters or on streaming, it’s worth paying attention to. From A24, The Legend of Ochi brings the expected artistic flair to the fantasy genre. Of course, the movie offers a more layered take on the genre, exploring themes of acceptance, environmentalism, and family. On top of all of that, the design of the Ochi is aptly adorable. The Legend of Ochi is streaming on August 15.
