Lineage’ Trailer Ditches Found Footage Format for Final Movie

When it comes to found footage horror franchises, the one that immediately pops into most people’s minds is the Paranormal Activity series. However, in 2015 one came along that, while not as universally recognized, found its way into the hearts of genre fans, and has gone on to become a cult favorite. Written and directed by Stephen Cognetti, Hell House LLC redefined what a found footage horror movie could be, and as such, it went on to spawn three sequels that were equally terrifying. Now, Cognetti is at it again with the fifth entry in the saga, Hell House LLC: Lineage, which ditches the found footage format for what could be the final film in the series.

The 100 Best Horror Movies of All Time, Ranked

From the scariest and the most intelligent to the historically important, violently gory, and utterly awesome, these are the best horror movies.

The new trailer for Hell House LLC: Lineage was released today (seen below), and showcases what’s to come when the horror sequel makes its premiere on August 20. Once more featuring Elizabeth Vermilyea, Cayla Berejikian, Victoria Andrunik, Gideon Berger, and Bridget Rose Perrotta, to name a few, the film also stars newcomers Searra Sawka and Mike Sutton. Like the previous movies, Lineage promises to deliver a terrifying experience that will work to connect everything together and (hopefully) deliver a satisfying ending for longtime fans:

“Haunted by visions and recurring nightmares years after a near-death experience, Vanessa Shepard finds herself living in the town of Abaddon, unable to break free from its unexplainable hold on her. When people around her suddenly and inexplicably begin to die, she soon uncovers her terrifying connection to the Abaddon Hotel, the Carmichael Manor, and the mysterious murders that have been occurring for decades.”

Is This Really the End for the ‘Hell House LLC’ Franchise?

Running for 10 long years, it’s hard to imagine that a horror franchise can really come to an end. After all, we’ve seen the resurrection of the Halloween series many times, and are on the cusp of seeing the revival of Friday the 13th with the new Peacock series, Crystal Lake. They always manage to claw their way back in some form or fashion, but when it comes to Hell House LLC, it could truly be the end of an era. Posting on X at the time Lineage began filming, Cognetti proclaimed:

“Here we go! Day one of what will likely be the last but also the scariest Hell House!”

When it came to the shift in narrative structure for what could be the final movie, Cognetti told Bloody Disgusting that it was something that needed to be done if he wanted to end the series on a high note. However, that shouldn’t deter fans from checking it out, as Lineage will answer a lot of questions we’ve been asking since the beginning:

“When I began outlining Hell House LLC: Lineage, I realized the story, scope and most importantly, the scares I wanted to tell required a change in the format to truly do it right. I’m excited for fans to see a Hell House story told in a completely different way, answering old mysteries while still adding more depth to the Abaddon story.”

You can see for yourself if Hell House LLC: Lineage is really the “scariest” of them all when it makes its way into theaters on August 20 courtesy of Terror Films and Iconic Events.
