Is there anything more satisfying than seeing two action icons join forces to save the world from an alien invasion? No. No, there isn’t. And we have just that thanks to the upcoming sci-fi action sequel Skyline: Warpath, which thrusts The Raid star Iko Uwais and John Wick’s Scott Adkins together and tasks them with saving humanity using just their fists and feet.
The new look image centers on Iko Uwais, who, somehow, remains one of the most underrated action stars fighting the good fight right now. One of the most underrated action stars leading an underrated sci-fi franchise sequel. It has cult classic written all over it. Anyway, in the image, Uwais is seen wielding a pair of blades as he readies himself to once again battle the extraterrestrial threat after debuting in 2017’s Beyond Skyline alongside another action star, Frank Grillo.
For Skyline: Warpath, Grillo is nowhere to be seen (he’s now busy starring as Rick Flag Sr. in James Gunn’s DCU). But, fear not, as the franchise has found the perfect replacement in John Wick: Chapter 4 and Diablo star Scott Adkins, who it has been revealed will be playing a mysterious “dual role.” You can check out the new image from Skyline: Warpath, and some newly revealed details about the sci-fi action sequel below, courtesy of Fantastic Fest 2025.
‘Skyline: Warpath’ Promises to Be “Hilariously Fun” & “Ambitious”
Directed by Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline), Skyline: Warpath will be led by the one-two action hero punch of Iko Uwais (The Raid, The Raid 2) and Scott Adkins (Boyka: Undisputed, Avengement). The rest of the cast includes Louis Mandylor (Rambo: Last Blood, The Debt Collector), Randall Bacon (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens).
The Skyline franchise began back in 2010 with a small-scale disaster movie that was largely set in one location. Following a small group of friends as they witness a terrifying alien invasion take place, the series has since evolved into an epic action saga, with Skyline: Warpath set to debut at Fantastic Fest in September. You can check out the official details for the sci-fi action follow-up below:
Sua and the Resistance are on the hunt for a powerful artifact to fight the Harvesters. As they race against time to save humanity’s future, a run-in with a friendly Harvester living hidden in a secluded village threatens to upend everything the military Resistance believes. Sua will be forced to choose between his duty as a soldier and his own moral clarity in this thrilling, stunt-forward action movie.
SKYLINE: WARPATH is the fourth installment in the beloved action franchise, and if you’re worried about not knowing what’s going on, have no fear—there is a helpful summary of the series timeline during the opening credits of the movie. Anything you need to know is covered, or will be revealed soon, so don’t worry about having to marathon the previous installments, though you’d have a great time doing just that.
Once Liam O’Donnell took over directing duties on the SKYLINE sci-fi action series, he brought an eye for ambitious set pieces, a focus on stunt performance, and the star power of Iko Uwais. For action fans, the SKYLINE series is a treasure trove of DTV action martial arts stars and performers, and WARPATH continues that tradition by bringing in Scott Adkins to play a dual role.
Iko Uwais and Scott Adkins teaming up in a martial arts movie is certainly nothing new, but it is always a treat. O’Donnell knows this and finds clever ways to make each matchup and face-off feel fresh and new by pushing his budget to its limit with one of the series’ most hilariously fun and ambitious finales yet.
