President Donald Trump unleashed a blistering attack on MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace, branding her “a loser, with poor ratings” and declaring she “will be terminated shortly.”
In a Truth Social post that reignited his long-running war with the left-leaning cable network, the president’s ire surfaced in response to Wallace’s foul-mouthed commentary on his summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
“She is a loser, with bad ratings, who was already thrown off of The View. She will be fired soon! MSNBC IS DEAD!” Trump raged in his post on Sunday, targeting the “Deadline: White House” host who once served as White House communications director under George W. Bush.
Trump’s broadside was in reaction to a Truth Social user who posted a mock-up of Wallace depicting her wearing a clown nose.
His volcanic response followed Wallace’s pointed criticism of the Putin summit, where she accused Trump of abandoning US allies and showing dangerous weakness on the world stage.
At the top of her Friday show hosting “Deadline: White House,” Wallace blasted Trump over his meeting with Putin.
“Having had the privilege of interviewing Ukrainians, it’s so much to watch our country’s president stand with the person responsible for all that suffering and all that death, it’s heinous,” she said.
Wallace added that Trump “doesn’t give a s–t about democracy, doesn’t care about our allies, [and] doesn’t care about democratic allies’ sovereignty.”
Trump’s summit with Putin in Alaska drew sharp criticism for producing no progress on ending the war in Ukraine, despite earlier promises of a ceasefire.
Opponents said Trump appeared deferential to Putin, allowing the Russian leader to dominate both the optics and substance of the meeting while sidelining Ukraine itself.
The White House countered that the summit laid groundwork for future peace talks, dismissing negative coverage as exaggerated and framing the meeting as a step toward broader negotiations.
The feud represents just the latest chapter in Trump’s scorched-earth campaign against MSNBC personalities.
Trump has previously branded Wallace a “third-rate lapdog” and mocked her 2015 departure from ABC’s daytime talk show.
“She was thrown off The View like a dog, Zero T.V. Personas. Now Wallace is a 3rd rate lapdog for Fake News MSDNC (Concast). Doesn’t have what it takes!” Trump tweeted in May 2020.
Wallace’s “Deadline: White House” ranks among MSNBC’s top programs, drawing over 1 million viewers and nearly doubling CNN’s competing hour, but still trails Fox News significantly in the same time slot.
On Aug. 8, 2025, Wallace pulled in 1,063,000 total viewers at 4 p.m. compared to Fox’s “Will Cain Show” at 1,953,000, while her 5 p.m. hour drew 1,034,000 viewers versus Fox’s “The Five” at 3,495,000.
Despite Trump’s claims of “poor ratings,” Wallace’s show remains a strong performer within MSNBC’s lineup, consistently outperforming CNN but capturing roughly half or less of Fox News’ audience in both total viewership and the key 25-54 demographic.
Fox News shares common ownership with The Post.
Wallace is far from Trump’s only target at the network he derisively calls “MSDnc” and “Concast” — a play on words meant to poke fun at the channel’s corporate parent Comcast.
Trump has clashed with “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, once occasional Mar-a-Lago guests who became fierce critics.
Trump also called MSNBC’s president directly and demanded that late-night host Lawrence O’Donnell be fired.
