These are some of the absolute best TV shows and limited series available to binge-watch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video this week, August 25–31, 2025.
Between a critically acclaimed legal drama, a quirky feel-good romantic comedy, a classic sitcom from the creator of Succession, and two thrilling prequels to a couple of Prime Video’s most popular shows, Screen Rant has got you covered with some of the greatest and most relevant series to watch on Prime Video right now.
Goliath
Fans of Taylor Sheridan’s epic Paramount+ series Landman simply have to watch Goliath, another celebrated series starring Oscar-winning Billy Bob Thornton. All 32 episodes across four seasons of Goliath are streaming now exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
Goliath earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, including a perfect 100% in its fourth and final season. This is a clear sign that the series only gets better with age and is worth sticking it out after the less favorable first season, which premiered back in 2016.
Goliath follows Thornton’s Billy McBride, a disgraced lawyer turned ambulance chaser who finally gets a worthwhile case that could offer him his long-awaited chance at redemption. If redemption isn’t in the cards, then at least he can get some revenge against the law firm that gave him the boot.
Thornton is joined by an ensemble cast that includes J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Dennis Quaid (The Substance), Molly Parker (House of Cards), William Hurt (Broadcast News), Mark Duplass (The Morning Show), Maria Bello (The Waterfront), Jena Malone (Donnie Darko), and Bruce Dern (Nebraska).
Goliath is co-created by David E. Kelley, known for being the mastermind behind dozens of TV series, including Presumed Innocent, Big Little Lies, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Ally McBeal. If you’re looking for a thrilling legal show with a great lead performance by Thornton, then Goliath is for you.
Modern Love
Prime Video subscribers looking for something more light-hearted and quirky will enjoy one of the most critically acclaimed romantic comedy series on the streaming platform, Modern Love. The show ran for 16 episodes and two seasons, earning a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 75% for its first season, which was released in 2019.
Modern Love should be watched for the sheer amount of talent in its cast alone, which includes Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), Andrew Scott (Ripley), Julia Garner (Weapons), Dev Patel (The Green Knight), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon), John Slattery (Mad Men), Shea Whigham (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), and more.
The series was developed for television by John Carney, best known for classic films like Once, Begin Again, and Sing Street. Patel earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in a season 1 episode. As an anthology series with a similar structure to Black Mirror, each episode focuses on a different type of love story with new characters and settings. The first three episodes of season 1 are notable standouts.
Modern Love might be best consumed in small doses, making it admittedly not the greatest option for a proper binge-watching session. That said, a few episodes per night over the course of a week should be plenty of time to get through both seasons. If you’re looking for a rare type of series that is moving, thoughtful, and heartwarming, this is the perfect show to watch on Prime Video.
Fresh Meat
Before Jesse Armstrong’s Succession became one of the greatest drama series of the 21st century, the celebrated writer got his start with classic TV shows like Peep Show and Fresh Meat. Viewers heading back to college campuses in the coming days will love (and possibly relate to) this hilarious student-oriented comedy.
Fresh Meat earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 89% matched with an equally outstanding audience score. Although the comedy show first premiered back in 2011, viewers will likely still find it timeless and relatable to modern audiences, even if some elements do feel a bit dated.
Sort of like a Freaks and Geeks in a college setting, Fresh Meat follows a group of incoming college students who struggle to adjust to the collegiate lifestyle and environment. Those who loved the original UK version of Skins will likely find Fresh Meat familiar and nostalgic.
Since it’s a Jesse Armstrong show, you already know the humor in Fresh Meat is going to be top-notch. Armstrong co-created the series with Sam Bain, who also co-created Peep Show. The cast is led by Zawe Ashton, Greg McHugh, Kimberly Nixon, Charlotte Ritchie, Joe Thomas, and Jack Whitehall.
Critics mostly raved about Fresh Meat. The Daily Telegraph called the series “for anyone who has ever gone to university, and not just for people who happen to be there now. It’s also well-crafted, poignant and very, very amusing.” The series originally aired on Channel 4 and has since become an all-time English-language comedy series.
Gen V
With season 2 on the way on September 17, 2025, now is the perfect time to start watching or re-watching the Prime Video original series Gen V. Set in the same universe as the massively popular superhero dark comedy The Boys, Gen V is a prequel series that every fan of The Boys has to watch.
Gen V season 1 earned an exceptional Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%, a slight improvement on the 93% overall RT score for The Boys. Gen V explores the first generation of superheroes who discover that their powers are derived from Compound V (you’ll have to be at least somewhat familiar with The Boys to get the most out of this series).
While The Boys focuses mainly on adult superheroes, Gen V is more of a teen drama series that’s centered on young adult superheroes who must adjust to the realization that their superpowers aren’t God-given. The show also takes place in a school setting, where each of the main characters competes for the top ranking at the university.
Screen Rant’s review of Gen V season 1 noted, “Gen V is very entertaining. Though some of the comic book aspects won’t wow you, the story is engaging enough to keep you ready and waiting for more.” If you’re all caught up on The Boys but haven’t seen Gen V season 1 yet, now is the perfect time to start ahead of the upcoming season 2 premiere.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf
If you watched The Terminal List when it was released on Prime Video more than three years ago, chances are you’ve been waiting for this moment to finally arrive. At long last, The Terminal List prequel series, Dark Wolf, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video this week, starting on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will shift the focus away from Chris Pratt’s tortured Navy SEAL Commander James Reece to Taylor Kitsch’s supporting character, Ben Edwards. A former Navy SEAL himself, Ben became a CIA operative after serving with the country alongside Reece, which led to their various team-ups in The Terminal List as Reece sought revenge and to expose a massive homeland conspiracy.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is set to follow Edwards’ journey from the Navy to the CIA, pulling some information from the Jack Carr books that inspired the Prime Video series. Pratt will co-star alongside Kitsch in Dark Wolf, which will also feature franchise newcomers Tom Hopper and Luke Hemsworth and Jared Shaw’s returning character “Boozer.”
Any last-minute plans to rewatch The Terminal List before the new prequel comes out will have to begin today. The first three of seven episodes of Dark Wolf drop this Wednesday on Amazon Prime Video, with the finale set to air on September 24, 2025.
