With rumors about Deadpool 3 heavily involving the multiverse, Ben Affleck suits up again as Daredevil with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in new fan art. Deadpool is finally getting ready to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. While most of the X-Men characters are getting rebooted, Reynolds will actually get to reprise the role in Deadpool 3, which will integrate the Marvel icon into the larger Avengers-based universe.
With Deadpool 3 currently filming, fans are eagerly waiting to see what the film has in store, including the announced return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, some are hoping to see other characters return, with Venomhology recently sharing fan art of Affleck’s Daredevil joining forces with Reynolds’ Deadpool.
Affleck portrayed Matt Murdock in the 2003 Daredevil film, long before Charlie Cox took on the character in the Netflix series as part of the MCU. While his movie was received with mixed reviews, Affleck would later on be cast as Batman in the DCEU, as he recently finished his run as the Dark Knight in The Flash.
Ben Affleck’s Rumored Deadpool 3 Appearance Explained
As impressive as the Deadpool 3 fan art is, there is a reason why Affleck’s Daredevil is getting new buzz again. Last week, new (and completely unconfirmed) reports claimed that Affleck had supposedly been spotted on the set of Deadpool 3, apparently meant to reprise the role of Daredevil in Reynolds’ trilogy finale. To this point, Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to confirm nor deny said rumors.
If Affleck’s Daredevil is actually in Deadpool 3, it would suggest that the upcoming MCU installment is perhaps paying homage to additional Marvel films made by 20th Century Fox. It would likely only be for a small role, if not a simple cameo, as it would be weird to see this version of Daredevil have an actual storyline in the film. With that said, it would genuinely be interesting to see Affleck get to suit up one more time as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, especially if he somehow crossed paths with Cox as Daredevil.
There has been a lot of secrecy in general when it comes to Deadpool 3, primarily due to Jackman’s Wolverine return and how this will connect to the MCU. Given that the film is coming in the midst of The Multiverse Saga, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Affleck rumor turns out to be true. But for now, time will tell who is and isn’t in Deadpool 3 until Marvel Studios says otherwise.
