Secret Invasion Reveals Captain Marvel Still Hasn’t Fulfilled Her Promise To The Skrulls

The Secret Invasion TV show will deal with an unfinished plot point from Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers has yet to fulfill her promise to the Skrulls. For the first new Marvel Studios show in 2023, Samuel L. Jackson is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury, but this time as the leading character in his own story. Secret Invasion, based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, is set to be a conspiracy series that will tackle the invasion of Skrulls, who are trying to infiltrate Earth.

Additionally, Secret Invasion will address a story point from Captain Marvel, according to Jackson. In an interview with Empire Magazine, the MCU actor spoke about the ending of Captain Marvel and how that leads into Secret Invasion. In the 2019 movie, Carol Danvers promised to find a new home planet for the Skrulls, but 30 years later when Secret Invasion picks up, that still hasn’t happened. “We’re seeing what the consequences of that could be,” Jackson said. Although Captain Marvel has appeared in the MCU since her solo movie, the franchise has not yet addressed this plot thread.

Will Captain Marvel Be In Secret Invasion?

Even though Secret Invasion will follow Fury, it does raise the question of whether or not Captain Marvel will appear in the show because of this story. Thus far, there have been no signs pointing toward Brie Larson appearing in the Disney+ drama. It’s always possible that, similar to her cameo in the Ms. Marvel season 1 finale, Marvel Studios is keeping a potential appearance under wraps.

The other mystery is exactly where in the MCU timeline Secret Invasion is supposed to take place. While it’s been confirmed to be happening in “present day MCU,” that doesn’t necessarily specify the proper timing of the show’s setting. For example, the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania could have taken place at the same time as Moon Knight season 1, while Secret Invasion may be set at the same time as the end of Ms. Marvel and the start of The Marvels, which comes out later in the year.

If that’s the case, Carol could be busy trying to figure out how she and Kamala Khan switched places after finding herself in Ms. Marvel’s bedroom back on Earth. Still, given Captain Marvel’s connection to the Skrulls, it would be strange if Carol wasn’t at least mentioned Secret Invasion. With only a month to go, exactly what the fallout will be of Captain Marvel not keeping her promise will be revealed in Secret Invasion.
