Here’s What’s Next for the Cast of ‘Adolescence’ After Six Emmy Wins

Adolescence is an incredibly ambitious four-part series on Netflix that swept the Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this month. The psychological crime drama was released back in March, impressing audiences with its format and riveting performances. Each episode is filmed in one long take, leaving no room for error. The result is an incredibly powerful story about a family and community reeling after a 13-year-old boy is accused of murdering a classmate. Adolescence currently has a 97% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The drama scored a total of 13 Primetime Emmy Award nominations this year, winning in six major categories — plus two wins in technical categories. This includes Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series for Philip Barantini, and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series for creators Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham. Three of the show’s wins were in acting categories: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Stephen Graham, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Owen Cooper, and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Erin Doherty. Owen’s win makes him the youngest actor to ever win in his category.

So, with all the buzz surrounding the series after the Emmys, what’s next for the cast of Adolescence?

Amari Bacchus

Netflix

Amari Bacchus appeared in two short films before being cast as Inspector Luke Bascombe’s son, Adam, in Adolescence. His other project this year was the short film Far from the Plains, where he starred as Frankie. His upcoming projects include another short film, a feature film, and a television series. Words on a Page is a dramatic short film directed by Nathalia Syam with a screenplay by Thomas Reed. Bacchus stars in the role of Connor, and the short is currently in post-production. Bacchus is also slated to play Tom in the upcoming horror movie The Night House. The movie is directed by Jesper Ganslandt (Cry Wolf) with a screenplay by Ganslandt and author Jo Nesbø, who also wrote the novel on which the movie is based.

‘Crookhaven’ (2026)

Last but not least, Bacchus will star in the upcoming BBC drama Crookhaven as Ade Okoro. Based on the J.J. Arcanjo book series, Crookhaven centers on a school for crooks led by Headmaster Caspian Lockett. The cast includes Keith Allen (Steeltown Murders), Naomi Wirthner (Slow Horses), Charlie Mann (The Watchers), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Broadchurch), Carmel Laniado (Tell Me Everything), Genesis Lynea (Champion), Tipper Seifert-Cleveland (Krypton), and Dougray Scott (Crime) as Headmaster Lockett.

Jo Hartley

Jo Hartley plays Mrs. Fenumore in Adolscence, a teacher at Bruntwood Academy where Jamie and murder victim Katie Leonard (Emilia Holliday) went to school. In addition to playing Mrs. Fenumore this year, Hartley played Beth Tyler in two episodes of the procedural crime drama Silent Witness. She currently has two projects in the works. The first is the short film A Loud Piece of Armour, which is currently in post-production.

‘Alley Cats’ (TBA)

While there’s no release date yet, Hartley is scheduled to appear in the Netflix adult animated series Alley Cats. The series is created by Ricky Gervais, with whom Hartley has previously worked with on the Netflix comedy drama After Life. According to Deadline, the cast will feature the voices of Diane Morgan (Mandy), Tom Basden (Here We Go), Kerry Godliman (Whitstable Pearl), Andrew Brooke (The Agency: Central Intelligence), David Earl (After Life), Jo Hartley, Natalie Cassidy (EastEnders), and Tony Way (Red Sonja).

Erin Doherty

Erin Doherty is fresh off winning an Emmy for her performance as clinical psychologist Briony Ariston in Adolescence. Having already played Princess Anne in The Crown and Mary Carr in A Thousand Blows, Doherty has two projects currently in development. The first is Season 2 of the Hulu historical drama A Thousand Blows, where she stars alongside her Adolescence co-star Stephen Graham. Season 2 is slated to have six episodes that will be released in 2026.

‘California Avenue’ (TBA)

Doherty is also working on the TV series California Avenue (previously titled Clifftops), which is currently in pre-production. The BBC drama is set in a 1970s trailer park overlooking the English Channel, where a mother and daughter are hoping to start a new life. According to Deadline, the show will be led by Hugo Blick, creator of the BBC Two miniseries The English, with a cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter (Four Letters of Love), Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), and Bill Nighy (Living). Doherty is slated to play Lela, but there is no release date information at this time.

Faye Marsay

Faye Marsay plays Inspector Misha Frank in Adolescence, but that’s not all she’s been up to this year. She played Annie Roberts in the BBC historical drama Ten Pound Poms. She was also in the Disney+ hit series Andor, where she starred as rebel operative Vel Sartha. Marsay has only been in a handful of films, the most recent of which was Lady Chatterley’s Lover in 2022, but the actor has an impressive television resume. Since 2013, Marsay has appeared in The White Queen, The Bletchley Circle, My Mad Fat Diary, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, and McMafia, among others.

‘Ted Lasso’ (2026)

Next, Marsay is slated to make an appearance in the new season of Ted Lasso. The beloved Apple TV+ sports comedy drama stars Jason Sudeikis (SNL) in the title role as a college football coach who subverts expectations by showing great compassion in everything he does. Over three seasons, Ted Lasso has won 13 Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes. Production for Season 4 is currently underway. Marsay’s involvement was announced in July, though it has yet to be announced who her character will be. The new season of Ted Lasso will likely return sometime in 2026.

Ashley Walters

Ashley Walters scored his first Primetime Emmy nomination for playing Inspector Luke Bascombe in Adolescence. It wasn’t his only TV appearance in 2025, either. Walters appeared in three episodes of A Thousand Blows as Hezekiah Moscow’s (Malachi Kirby) father, Switch, alongside his Adolescence co-stars Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham. He also directed three separate episodes at the end of the season. Earlier this year, Walters appeared as Monte Leburne in the Netflix thriller Missing You, which is based on the novel of the same name by Harlan Coben.

‘Remain’ (2026)

Walters is making his feature-length directorial debut with a coming-of-age drama set at a juvenile detention center called Animol. Nick Love (Bulletproof) wrote the screenplay. Tut Nyuot (The Long Walk) stars and Stephen Graham has a supporting role. Walters also has an acting role coming up in Remain, a supernatural romantic thriller written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan (Trap). It’s based on the 2025 novel Shyamalan wrote with famed romance novelist Nicholas Sparks. The cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent) and Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton). It’s set to be released on October 23, 2026.

Owen Cooper

It’s hard to believe that Owen Cooper’s turn as 13-year-old murder suspect Jamie Miller is the actor’s first screen credit. The young actor showed incredible depth and range in Adolescence, especially when one takes into consideration how the series was shot in long takes. He has won numerous awards for playing Owen, but that’s not all he’s been up to this year. Back in May, Cooper starred in Sam Fender’s music video for “Little Bit Closer.” He is also set to appear as Callum in the upcoming BBC Three series Film Club. This comedy drama, written by Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) and Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon), is expected to air sometime towards the end of 2025.

‘Wuthering Heights’ (2026)

Cooper is also set to be in the high-profile Wuthering Heights adaptation written and directed by Emerald Fennell (Saltburn). The first trailer was released earlier this month, with Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) starring as adult versions of the lovers Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Cooper will play young Heathcliff opposite newcomer Charlotte Mellington as young Catherine. Wuthering Heights is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.

Austin Haynes

Austin Hayes is a Leeds actor who has been working in television since 2017. He’s had a busy 2025, too. In addition to playing Jamie’s friend, Fredo, in Adolescence, he had a small role as a student in the movie Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning. He also had a part in Jan Komasa’s (The Hater) crime thriller Good Boy (not to be confused with the horror movie of the same name that also came out this year). That’s not all, either. Haynes appeared in an episode of the British sitcom Here We Go and the BBC TV movie Unforgivable, where he played Tom McKinney.

‘Giant’ (2026)

Haynes’s next project is a sports drama called Giant, which is slated for a 2026 release. Written and directed by Rowan Athale (Strange But True), the film follows the career of boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. Amir El-Masry (Industry) is starring as Hamed, and Pierce Brosnan (The Thursday Murder Club) plays boxing trainer Brendan Ingle. Haynes has been cast as Trev, and his younger brother, fellow actor Rocco Haynes (28 Years Later), has been cast as Mikey.

Stephen Graham

Stephen Graham is an incredible character actor who has been in the business since the 1990s. He’s appeared in movies like Gangs of New York, This Is England, and Blitz. From 2010 to 2014, he played legendary gangster Al Capone in the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire. Since then, his TV credits include Save Me, A Christmas Carol, White House Farm, The North Water, Peaky Blinders, Boiling Point, Bodies, and A Thousand Blows. Adolescence, for which he also served as co-creator and writer, marks his first Emmy win for playing Jamie’s bereft father, Eddie Miller.

‘The Immortal Man’ (TBA)

The actor is rumored to have several projects in development, with two TV shows and two movies confirmed. In 2026, he’s set to return as Henry ‘Sugar’ Goodson in Hulu’s A Thousand Blows. He is also set to star as serial killer Jurek Walter in the Apple TV+ crime drama Lazarus. The series, based on the novels by Lars Kepler, doesn’t have a release date yet. Then, Graham is set to appear in the emotional drama Bunker alongside Javier Bardem (Monster) and Penélope Cruz (Ferrari). The actor’s other upcoming film is the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, where he will reprise his role as Hayden Stagg opposite Cillian Murphy’s (Oppenheimer) Thomas Shelby. The Immortal Man is looking at a late 2025 or early 2026 release on Netflix.
