Calls to end ‘The View’ and more: Letters

End ‘The View’

Please, please, please, get these cackling females off the air (“Ax hovers over ‘View,’ ” Sept. 20).

I agree with Brendan Carr — the Federal Communications Commission should conduct an investigation into “The View.” It shouldn’t even be considered a news show. It’s an insult to real news reporters who are honest and trustworthy. This show is full of nothing but gossip.

New blood Dems

It is disheartening to see the weak field of candidates vying to replace Rep. Jerrold Nadler (“NYC Dems’ Depressing Farm Team,” Editorial, Sept. 23).

What’s needed in this race is fresh blood: A moderate candidate who will stand up for New Yorkers against attacks from Washington and stand out as a leader on the issues driving today’s debates. Until this candidate emerges, there’s little hope that any replacement will live up to Nadler’s name.

Odious Randi

With the possible exceptions of Dr. Jill Biden and Sen. Adam Schiff, American Federation of Teachers head Randi Weingarten continues her role as the most obnoxious and odious figure on the American political scene (“Randi’s ‘Fascist’ Con,” Editorial, Sept. 22).

While touting her new book, she proclaims the need for a public with “strong critical-thinking muscles.” It hardly takes much critical-thinking muscle at all to realize that she and the AFT have done zilch to further the standards and smarts of students trapped in her ghastly “pass ’em no matter what” empire. The critical-thinking muscles she finds so important are best exhibited by parents who aren’t fooled one bit.

Wild, wild bikers

“The bikes think they own the park” — more like they think they own the city (“Central Pk. road to hell,” Sept. 24).

Bike riders go the wrong way, ride in car lanes, rarely stop for red lights and routinely make sharp turns from side streets, often at speeds that mimic I-95 traffic.

At our monthly precinct Community Council meetings, residents regularly complain about inconsiderate and dangerous bicycle riders. When is the city going to man up and protect pedestrians?

Wishy-washy Zo

What an indecisive world this is: Zohran Mamdani cannot decide if he wants to decriminalize prostitution, which is always a hot topic when it comes to politicians running for office (“Zoh’s Prostitute Problem,” Editorial, Sept. 24).

I’m surprised, since Mamdani’s culture promotes modesty and respect for women. The question is, will prostitution ever become a thing of the past? I would be surprised if it did, but it does make for a good mayoral “agenda” item.

Save the rat packs

Rodents are emotional and intelligent, which makes it even more heartbreaking that humans inflict so much suffering on them, by gassing, poisoning — and arguably the worst — using glue traps (“Secrets of NYC’s rat pack,” Sept. 21).

The best tactic for rodent management is containing food and garbage. Put garbage bags in sealed bins, food in sturdy, sealed containers and practice maximum cleanliness. If rodents don’t have an available food source, then they won’t stay and reproduce and issues become more manageable.
