General Hospital fans are going to have to wait longer than usual to see the next episode because it won’t be airing on Tuesday, September 30, Wednesday, October 1, and possibly Thursday, October 2. The current storylines on the soap have been captivating, including the episodes honoring the real-life passing of Leslie Charleson by paying tribute to her character, Dr. Monica Quartermaine, who passed away on the show.
In addition, General Hospital has featured the introduction of legendary soap actress Erika Slezak as Monica’s never-before-seen sister Veronica “Ronnie” Bard, the mystery of who shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), and the returns of Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) and Ryan Paevey (Nathan West). Just as the action is heating up on General Hospital, the show is taking a mini-hiatus while ABC airs a special event in its place.
Why Isn’t General Hospital On Today & Tomorrow (September 30 & October 1)?
ABC Is Airing A Special Sports Event Instead
General Hospital isn’t airing today, Tuesday, September 30 and tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, because ABC is airing Major League Baseball’s National League Wild Card Games 1 and 2 between the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs instead. The teams must win two out of the three games, so, if they tie, there will be one more game on Thursday, October 2.
When Does General Hospital Return?
The Soap Opera Could Be Delayed One More Day
If the National League Wild Card series ends on Wednesday, then General Hospital will return on Thursday. If it continues into Thursday, then it will air again on Friday, October 3. The coming attractions after Monday’s episode teased Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) telling Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) to stop trying to pin Drew’s shooting on the obvious suspect, presumably her son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
General Hospital also previewed Britt asking Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) if Maxie (Kirsten Storms) would be okay with her son James (Gary James Fuller) meeting his father, Nathan, while she’s in a coma; Nathan greeting someone, possibly his son; and Ronnie telling Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) that she’s not about to be scared off by Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).
The teaser also showed Michael telling Tracy to go to the cops if she’s so sure that he’s lying and Ric (Rick Hearst) holding a knife to Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) throat, startling her from her sleep, after he escaped the basement where she, Kristina Corinthos (Kate Mansi), and Ava Jerome (Maura West) were holding him hostage.
Now General Hospital fans will have to wait two or three days to find out what happens next while the National League Wild Card series airs. They’ll be left on the edges of their seats, but it’ll be worth the wait. General Hospital is as thrilling as ever.
