Two cosplayers give viewers a realistic look at what Ruffnut and Tuffnut may look like in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie. Ruffnut and Tuffnut are twins in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise and have become quite the iconic duo with their love/hate relationship and crass mannerisms. In the animated film series, they are voiced by Kristen Wiig and T.J. Miller, respectively. However, the roles will be recast in the live-action remake to reflect the characters’ ages, as the main How to Train Your Dragon crew are in their teens.
Cosplayers Morti_Cosplay and Kyoshi_Cosplay shared their interpretation of Ruffnut and Tuffnut on Instagram and looked like they came straight out of a How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake.
The cosplayers included quite a bit of detail in their Ruffnut and Tuffnut costumes, all the way down to the characters’ hairstyles, multi-horned Viking helmets, and matching dragon-tooth pendants. They also captured the characters’ mischievous and laidback personalities with their facial expressions and hand gestures.
How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Cast And Characters
Ever since the How to Train Your Dragon remake was announced, there have been questions about how the beloved characters will look in live-action and who will be portraying them. So far, only two characters have been cast in the film, Hiccup and Astrid. The franchise’s main protagonist, Hiccup, will be portrayed by Mason Thames. Thames made his breakthrough in the 2021 film The Black Phone as Finn “Finney” Blake and has also gained prominence for his role on Walker.
Starring opposite Thames will be Nico Parker as the lead female protagonist of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, Astrid Hofferson. Parker is a rising young star who made her feature film debut in the live-action Dumbo. She recently garnered attention for her role as Joel Miller’s (Pedro Pascal) daughter Sarah in the hit TV series The Last of Us. Thames’ and Parker’s casting was announced over a month ago, raising hope for further casting announcements. In the meantime, a few How to Train Your Dragon fan castings have arisen.
Names such as Saoirse Ronan, Dean-Charles Chapman, and David Harbour have emerged online for various roles within the How to Train Your Dragon remake, though they so far are only a product of fan imagination. Most fan castings are just for fun, but there have been instances of some coming true after studios tuned in to fan preferences. For now, though, it remains to be seen who else will appear in the How to Train Your Dragon remake, but cosplay shows anyone can be Tuffnut and Ruffnut as long as they interpret their spirit and style well.
