Where Nick Fury Was In Far From Home’s Credits Scene Finally Confirmed 4 Years Later

A new report has confirmed where the real Nick Fury was during Spider-Man: Far From Home’s post-credits scene. Following the twist that a Skrull had been posing as Fury on the superspy’s behalf, it was then revealed that the actual Fury was off-world in a spaceship. Now, it’s been confirmed where the real Fury was and what he’s been doing ahead of his return to Earth in the upcoming Secret Invasion series.

In a new interview with Samuel L. Jackson from Empire Magazine to promote Secret Invasion, Fury’s absence from Earth is discussed. Likewise, the particulars of Fury’s mission in space are finally revealed, four years after Far From Home’s release back in 2019:

The real Fury, having recruited his old friend as his Earth-bound stand-in, was somewhere out in deep space aboard a Skrull ship. We see him for a moment with his boots off and his feet up, nursing a coconut cocktail on virtual-reality sands, before he gets back to the important work of finding the aliens a new planet to live on.

Despite Captain Marvel leaving Earth in 1995 to help the Skrulls find a new home, it seems the mission is still ongoing and that Fury got involved, hence the need for Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos to act as his stand-in on Earth for an unknown period of time.

Why Do The Skrulls Still Not Have A Home In The MCU?

The fact that it’s been close to 30 years since 1995 and the Skrulls still don’t have a home is quite strange. However, it stands to reason that this will likely be a large plot point in the upcoming Secret Invasion show with Fury’s return to Earth. After all, It’s been reported that the series’ antagonists will be a disenfranchised splinter group of Skrulls who are in conflict with Talos. It would make sense if several Skrulls became angered and are now motivated to take aggressive action if promises of a new home haven’t been kept.

Earth being invaded by fed-up Skrulls intending to claim the planet as their own seems like a strong narrative possibility. If that’s indeed the case, it would certainly make sense why the real Fury has returned home, wanting to prevent a conflict he himself likely had a hand in starting. He might even be directly responsible, though time will tell if that’s proven true when Secret Invasion starts streaming June 21st on Disney+.

At any rate, it’s nice to finally get the confirmation about where the real Fury was in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Even if his mission failed or remains unfinished, knowing what Fury has been up to satisfies a Marvel mystery that’s been hanging for years. Hopefully, MCU fans will get some more details about what happened with Nick Fury’s Skrull mission when he returns in Secret Invasion.
