Days after reports surfaced that Scarlett Johansson was in talks to join the cast of the live-action Tangled remake, the movie star finally broke her silence on the speculation. The Tangled remake has faced major speed bumps on its journey to the big screen. Disney reportedly put a pause on the project after the live-action Snow White bombed at the box office. However, development was revived after a different live-action remake, Lilo & Stitch, was a hit with moviegoers.
During an interview with ET, Johansson was asked if there was a strong chance that she would play Mother Gothel in a live-action Tangled movie. She acknowledged that “anything is possible” before adding that the opportunity to work with director Michael Gracey is what would excite her the most.
Johansson went on to describe Gracey as an “extraordinary visionary” and claimed that any actor would “love” to collaborate with him on Tangled or any project, for that matter.
Is there a real possibility? I think anything is possible.
What would excite me about it would be the opportunity to work with Michael Gracey, who is attached to direct the film because he is absolutely an extraordinary visionary and any actor would love to have a collaboration.
