The Lincoln Lawyer is set to return to our screens in early 2026, and with it comes Neve Campbell’s Maggie McPherson to save the day for her ex-husband Mickey Haller. With Mickey on trial for murder, Maggie’s reappearance in the picture won’t just give him the emotional and moral support he needs, but will help him win his case.
After all, just like Mickey, Maggie is a highly-skilled legal professional. In The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, we’ll get to see her showcase her talent in the courtroom properly for the first time, at the moment when Mickey needs her most.
What’s more, if this season of the series goes by the book, her role in his trial proceedings will be absolutely vital to him winning. It could well be that Maggie McPherson comes out of this case with her reputation as one of the best lawyers in The Lincoln Lawyer burnished.

We already know that Neve Campbell is returning to The Lincoln Lawyer in a bigger role for season 4, but certain specifics of that role aren’t yet confirmed. For instance, in Michael Connelly’s novel The Law of Innocence – on which this season is based – Maggie only appears part-way through the trial when another character takes a leave of absence.
Things are likely to go differently in the screen version of the story, with Maggie involved in Mickey’s defense from nearer the beginning. The show will probably stick with one key part of the novel, however, in which Maggie delivers the opening statement for Mickey’s defense in court.
Neve Campbell’s Maggie Can Showcase Her Talent As A Lawyer In Mickey’s Case
Given that she’s set to take on such a central role in Mickey Haller’s defense proceedings, we’ll finally get to see what Maggie is made of as a lawyer. While fans have already been anticipating a season 4 reunion between Mickey and Maggie on the romantic front, it’ll be just as exciting to see them team up in the courtroom.
Because Maggie previously practised law as a prosecutor, whereas Mickey is a defense attorney, they’ve never had the chance to sit on the same side of the benches until now. Of course, they’re joining forces when the stakes couldn’t be higher, with Mickey’s freedom on the line.
It Could Be In The Courtroom That Maggie Wins Over Fans Of Andy Freeman
With Maggie set to be heavily involved in court during Mickey’s trial, cross-examining witnesses as well as giving statements, she’ll have the chance to win over the doubters who see Andy Freeman as better suited to a relationship with Mickey in The Lincoln Lawyer. Andy getting together with Mickey was a hit with audiences in season 3.
Even though this relationship was never mentioned in Michael Connelly’s novels, viewers felt that there was genuine chemistry between the two characters.
