‘The Mummy 4’ Should Add This Super DC Star to the Long-Awaited Action-Adventure Legacy Sequel

Action-adventure fans across the land could barely contain their excitement following the shocking announcement that both Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will return for a fourth movie in The Mummy franchise. Now that the cat is out of the bag, The Mummy lovers have taken to X/Twitter to share their ideas for the long-awaited sequel, with many hoping that a certain DCU star will join the fray as the son of Fraser and Weisz’s intrepid adventurers Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan.

Sources have disclosed that The Mummy 4 will act as “a sequel that would disregard the events of the third movie.” A wise decision considering that the third outing, 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, holds a rating of just 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. So, while actor Luke Ford is unlikely to return as O’Connell and Carnahan’s offspring, Alex, he could still play a role in proceedings, as the character was introduced in previous sequel The Mummy Returns and played by young actor Freddie Boath.

But who would be best to take on the role of Alex and potentially lead the franchise moving forward? Well, fans have a super suggestion, with many thinking that Superman actor David Corenswet should be added to The Mummy 4 as Alex O’Connell. “Manifesting David Corenswet to play Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz’s son in the new Mummy sequel because LOOK HOW PERFECT,” says one Mummy fan on X, with another adding, “Is it crazy that I actually think passing the torch to Corenswet wouldn’t be such a bad idea?”

David Corenswet Has Been Compared to Brendan Fraser Before…

The idea of David Corenswet as Alex in The Mummy 4 is growing faster than the titular movie monster’s regenerating flesh, with another fan pleading, “David Corenswet as the son of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in the new mummy film, please make it happen.” Generally, fans of the franchise are on board with the sequel ignoring the third movie, with this fan adding, “yes lets all agree that mummy 3 never happened thanks, and get david corenswet was their adult alex thank youuuuuuu.”

Finally, this likely sums up how most feel about The Mummy 4 and what needs to happen in the long-awaited follow-up: “As a lifelong fan of The Mummy, respectfully, please get John Hannah on board as well. Also please make sure Rick gets to use his butterfly knife. & David Corenswet should play adult Alex. That is all. Please. I beg.”

David Corenswet has seen his star rise rapidly after leading the Superman reboot for James Gunn’s DCU. Praised for his performance as a traditionally upbeat, hopeful, cheesy, endearing take on the Man of Steel, Corenswet has already been likened to Brendan Fraser in the past, with both his demeanor and looks drawing comparisons to The Mummy star and Oscar-winner. Whether he has time for another franchise is perhaps unlikely (he’s currently working on Man of Tomorrow and will have a big role in the DCU going forward), but the idea of Corenswet sharing the screen with Fraser and Weisz before taking The Mummy into its next era is certainly an enticing one.
