I was not expecting Batman‘s new appearance to include Parademons, but seeing the villains from DC‘s Justice League movie return has just increased my excitement for an announced project. Back in the DCEU movie franchise, we got the first live-action Justice League movie in the form of the 2017 cut of the film, which had Steppenwolf as the main villain.
However, Steppenwolf was not the only threat the Justice League dealt with throughout one of the DCEU’s most divisive movies. DC’s biggest heroes also went up against several Parademons, who are artificially created monstrosities that serve in Darkseid’s army. Given how Batman TV shows have mostly been grounded, I was surprised to see Parademons return in the most recent of them.
I Was Not Expecting Parademons To Appear In Batman’s New TV Show
With Batman’s major upcoming projects — Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 and the new DC Universe’s The Brave and the Bold Batman reboot — still years away, fans of the Dark Knight should turn their attention to the animated space. Earlier in the year, DC released the unique Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires movie, and now, a new Batman TV show has arrived on Prime Video.
Bat-Fam focuses on a fresh version of DC’s Bat-Family. The second of Bat-Fam‘s 10 episodes unexpectedly brings in Darkseid’s Parademons. They arrive after a Mother Box at S.T.A.R. Labs is accidentally activated, opening a Boom Tube that leads to the villains wreaking havoc. With the combined might of Batman, Damian Wayne, and Two-Face’s daughters, the Parademons are defeated.
Bat-Fam’s Parademons Make Me More Excited For DC’s Mister Miracle
Seeing Parademons again in a DC project has made me more excited about the announced DC series that could see them return. It has nothing to do with the Justice League, with the show focusing on the New Gods in a major way. That series is Mister Miracle, which will adapt the limited comic book series of the same name by writer Tom King.
Mister Miracle follows an escape artist who can’t escape depression and is dealing with generational trauma, complicated choices, and his upbringing. Scott Free is the son of the Highfather, the benevolent ruler of New Genesis, but he was raised as Darkseid’s son in Apokolips, while Orion, the villain’s biological son, grew up with the Highfather as part of a peace treaty.
With Tom King also serving as the showrunner of Mister Miracle, I’m sure the DC series can get to the same emotional heights as the comics. With James Gunn having no plans for Darkseid in the DCU at the moment, Mister Miracle will be the project to truly explore the villain and the Parademons, with Batman‘s new TV show making me more excited about it.
