One UK city has been named as one of the best places to visit in 2026 and it’s not one you might think of as a major tourist destination.
On a recent ranking by National Geographic, Hull has been named as a “best of the world” destination.
It says the city has a “laid-back” charm and rich maritime heritage which is worth visiting for guests.
The city is undergoing a £40million project to transform its maritime heritage into an exciting place for tourists.
National Geographic calls the city “underrated” and says there’s no better time to visit than in summer 2026 when the project will be completed.
One must-visit place in the city is East Park which is known for being a popular and stunning green space.
A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Great place to take the dogs for a walk, and the kids loved the play park, the animal enclosure/mini zoo. Definitely a place to be in the summer! But a beautiful place in the winter.”
Another penned: “Excellent park, loads of things to do, you could spend all day there easily. Make sure you get there early for a parking space.”
If you’re looking to learn about local history, you can’t miss out on a trip to the historical Hull Minster.
You can enjoy a visit to the peaceful building which is known for its stunning architecture.
