Netflix Hints at Byler as the ‘Endgame’ Ship

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 5, volume 1Stranger Things has been filled with different ships between characters since it began in 2016. It’s either team Steve and Nancy or Nancy and Jonathan, but the most recent ship is Byler, and it appears Netflix has picked a side.

Fans have pointed out a hilarious search query delivering equally funny results. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) have been on-and-off since season 1, and fans labeled their romance as Mileven. In season 4, it appears Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) discovered his feelings for his longtime best friend Mike, and their ship name became Byler.

When fans search for “Mileven Endgame,” it shows no search results, but “Byler Endgame” brings people directly to the sci-fi series Stranger Things, and the reactions from fans have been equally funny.

Season 5 began on November 26 with the release of Volume 1, and Will has been battling not only with his sexuality and hidden feelings for his best friends, but also the end of Hawkins and the battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

In a heart-to-heart session, Robin (Maya Hawke) and Will spoke about unrequited feelings and accepting who you are, despite what anyone else says, in order to eventually be “free.” Shortly after, Will discovered his powers, which were possible due to finally letting go.

It’s unclear which couple will make it to the end, or if anyone will survive, but the Byler fans have been relentless in ensuring their voices are heard. With Will’s new powers, Eleven discovering her long-lost sister, and Mike being saved by Will…it’s no surprise the Stranger Things fans are struggling to figure out how this will end.

Byler vs. Mileven isn’t the only ship being debated, as Nancy (Natalia Dyer) must choose between her first boyfriend, Steve (Joe Kerry), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). It was revealed in Volume 1 that Jonathan had purchased a ring, so who she will end up with is also being hotly debated amongst fans.

Volume 1 of Stranger Things season 5 is now available on Netflix. Volume 2 is set to release on December 25, with the series finale coming to Netflix on December 31.
