Shrapnel Clip Teases Action & Revenge for Jason Patric and Cam Gigandet

The Lost Boys star Jason Patric teams up with Never Back Down star Cam Gigandet in the upcoming action outing, Shrapnel, and we’ve gotten our hands on an exclusive clip. Coming courtesy of Saban Films, Shrapnel promises the kind of no-nonsense action that can sometimes really hit the spot as Patric and Gigandet embark on an R-rated mission for revenge. Check out our exclusive clip from Shrapnel below.

“When Sean’s daughter goes missing on the Mexican border, he teams up with his former Marine partner (Cam Gigandet) to face off against the cartel who kidnapped her,” the official synopsis for Shrapnel reads. And it is certainly a synopsis that suggests Shrapnel will strip away the fat and serve up all manner of action movie delights.

The footage finds Patric’s character Sean Beckwith turning to his brother in arms, Cam Gigandet’s Max Vohden, for advice after his daughter is kidnapped. After offering some diplomatic suggestions, Max reveals what he would do in the same situation, and it involves lighting things up and burning things down.

Directed by William Kaufman (The Channel) and written by Chad Law and Johnny Martin Walters, Shrapnel finds Jason Patric (The Losers, Sleepers) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight, Violent Night) in the lead, with the supporting cast including the likes of Kesia Elwin (Miracle at St. Anna), Mauricio Mendoza (Final Vow, As Good as Dead), and Guillermo Iván (Vantage Point).

Shrapnel has been rated R for having violence throughout, which should allow the two former Marines to enact the bloody vengeance they want, as well as language and brief sexuality. The action outing has a runtime of just 89 minutes, meaning that there will be very little messing around once the opening credits are over.

Shrapnel is scheduled to be released in theaters, on Digital and On Demand on July 28, 2023.

This Year Has Had a Lot to Offer Action Movie Fans

Warner Bros. Pictures

This year has had plenty to offer action movie fans, offering big blockbuster thrills and smaller, more intimate outings much like Shrapnel. One of the biggest action successes of the year came courtesy of the sequel John Wick: Chapter 4, which finds Keanu Reeves’ dog-loving assassin now with a price on his head. John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin. Met with critical acclaim and massive box office success, John Wick: Chapter 4 is now the highest-grossing movie in the franchise.

This year has also seen the released of Plane, starring Gerard Butler and Mike Colter, the Netflix sequel Extraction 2, which is once again led by Marvel star Chris Hemsworth, the explosive blockbuster follow-up Fast X, director Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, and Sisu, which sees a former Finnish commando take revenge on a death squad led by a brutal SS officer.

Audiences can currently bask in the thrills and death-defying stunts of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which finds Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his IMF team tracking down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity if it falls into the wrong hands.

And that’s not all, with the rest of the year promising the release of such action flicks as Heart of Stone, The Equalizer 3, Expend4bles, Retribution, and Meg 2: The Trench.

From Saban Films, Shrapnel will be released in theaters, on digital, and on demand July 28th.
