The stunning European city that’s one of the most walkable – best in January | Travel News | Travel

This beautiful city is a hidden gem in Spain – it’s one of the most walkable and you’ll come across plenty of exciting spots while you’re wandering around. You might not have heard of this city in Spain but it’s a great place to explore, especially in January.

Cordoba, in the southern region of Andalusia is a popular tourist destination so it’s best to visit out of season. If you’re planning on making the trip, January is the perfect time to visit.

On a travel blog called Andalucia Lovers, it says: “Cordoba, with its rich heritage, friendly atmosphere and mild weather, is a perfect destination to explore in winter, as it’s bustling all year round.

“You’ll discover the city in a calm, intimate atmosphere, far from the summer crowds.”

In the city, you’ll find an impressive old town which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you wander through its streets, you’ll come across unique little boutiques and a range of cafes or restaurants.

One of the most popular attractions in the area is the La Mezquita mosque which dates back to 784 A.D. Its architecture and mosaic designs are not to be missed and you can learn about the history of the building while you are there.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “It was very busy but very much worth it and it was so big that it didn’t feel cramped.

“Would recommend getting the audio guide for only £3 over a guided tour as it is very informative and there are no signs to read. Very beautiful, stunning architecture and well preserved!”

Another must-see place in the area is the Palacio de Viana which is an incredible home and garden, once lived in by a noble family. You can visit this impressive villa and its tropical style gardens.

A guest on Tripadvisor said: “This is an outstanding family villa/palace dating back several centuries.

“The interior rooms are well-preserved and show how the home developed over the different eras. Including a tour of the gardens in your ticket price is a must.”

If you are planning on visiting Spain, you should consider Cordoba for its beautiful architecture, less crowded streets and interesting history.
