The Exorcist will soon be part of the list too, with David Gordon Green releasing a sequel to the 1973 cult classic, with Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn reprising their roles from the original movie.
Titled The Exorcist: Believer, the sequel will focus on a desperate father trying to save his child who’s being possessed by a powerful and evil spirit, for that he’ll need the help of someone who has gone through the same thing in the past, Chris MacNeil and her daughter Regan. The film is set to debut in theaters on October 13.
What’s the Witchboard Remake About?
The original film followed the story of Linda and Jim a recently engaged couple that moves to a new house and celebrates a party to share the great news with their loved ones. Among the guests to the party is Brandon, Linda’s ex-boyfriend, who convinces the attendees to use a Witchboard to contact David, a spirit he had contacted before.
Linda gets obsesses with the artifact and permanently contacts David, who she finds out is a young boy who died many years ago. What she doesn’t know is that while speaking with David, she’s actually connecting with an evil spirit of a criminal that’s trying to make it back to the world of the living just to keep on killing people as he used to do.
The new Witchboard movie centers on a couple too, Emily (Iseman) and Christian (Dominguez), whose bought an old carriage house in New Orleans in order to renovate it and open a bistro with their friends. But their plans are interrupted when Emily finds an old Witchboard. Worried about the power of the artifact, Christian asks for the help of occult expert Alexander Baptiste, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. But the man that’s supposed to help them hides dark secrets that could actually put them all at risk.
