HomeMOVIESWhen 'Song Sung Blue' Will Stream on Peacock

When ‘Song Sung Blue’ Will Stream on Peacock

The Wolverine can sing. Who knew? Cassandra July can sing, too. But we knew that already. Well, Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are currently “healing the world and making it a better place… for you and for me, and the entire hu—…” Anyway, the two headline makers star in the biographical musical drama, Song Sung Blue, as the couple, Mike and Claire Sardina, who performed as the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.

Each of the two lead actors currently has something to smile about. For Jackman, Song Sung Blue is his highest rated movie on the Rotten Tomatoes popcornmeter, with a 97% score. For Hudson, the musical has brought her a third Golden Globe nomination. Could an Oscar be on the way? Regrettably, the film appears to be finishing last in the Amazing Festive Box Office Race. Beaten by Marty Supreme, Anaconda, The Housemaid, and Avatar, it has only made $12 million so far. If you’re reading this article, you’ve probably contributed to the low box office returns. You are probably waiting for a streaming date, and that’s okay. Here’s when you can watch the musical on your TV.

When Will ‘Song Sung Blue’ Be Available To Stream?

Focus Features

Based on the 2008 documentary film of the same name by Greg Kohs, Song Sung Blue was made by Focus Features, a Universal Studios subsidiary. The film will thus be available to stream on NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service.

Universal has had an in-house Pay-1 deal with Peacock since 2022. However, the 18 months are often split. For the first four months, the film streams on Peacock. It is then licensed to another streaming service for a few months before coming back to Peacock for four months.

Ordinarily, there tends to be a seven-week window between the day Focus Features’ films are released in theaters and the day they become available to stream. For example, Emma Stone’s Bugonia began streaming on Peacock on December 26, seven weeks after it premiered in the United States (October 31). Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale also appeared on Peacock’s homepage on November 7, seven weeks after its September 12 theatrical release.

Expect Peacock and Universal to stick to this pattern with Song Sung Blue. The movie can thus be expected to debut on the streaming service around Valentine’s Day. So, get ready to sing along with your spouse or date.

When Will ‘Song Sung Blue’ Be Available To Rent Digitally?

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue Focus Features

As is normally the case with many other major studio films, Song Sung Blue will first be accessible on digital streaming via premium video on demand when it’s released into the home entertainment marketplace. History shows that Focus Features normally releases its blockbusters on PVOD between 18 days and four weeks after they open in theaters.

Bugonia became available digitally on November 25, around three-and-a-half weeks after its October 31 theater release. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale surfaced on the PVOD market on September 30, close to three weeks after its September 12 premiere.

Because Song Sung Blue isn’t performing well in theaters, it can be expected to get the Downton Abbey treatment rather than the Bugonia treatment. In that case, it could arrive on PVOD as early as January 13 and no later than January 20, 2026. In most cases, new films become available digitally on Tuesdays.

For now, the musical is only available in theaters.
