The July 7 episode of America’s Got Talent featured the next round of Season 21 auditions. More talented acts hit the stage to perform for judges Howie Mandel, Mel B., Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell.

Heading into the episode, Cowell, Mandel, and Mel B. already used both of their Golden Buzzers, while Vergara and host Terry Crews still had one each to hand out. The recipients of the Golden Buzzer earn an automatic ticket to the Live Shows, which means they bypass the judges’ deliberations and new Judges Callback round.

By the end of the night, Crews was impressed enough to give his second Golden Buzzer to another talented contestant. Scroll down for a recap of the Episode 5 performances and to find out who will be moving on in the competition.

Barrio Dance Factory

The Barrio Dance Factory kicked the night off by sharing their love of dance with the judges and audience. Mel B. gave the group a standing ovation and commented on how their “energy is on fire.” She was impressed by how all 28 members were so in sync throughout the routine.

“I was not as blown away as, maybe, Mel was,” Mandel admitted. “I didn’t see anything I hadn’t seen.” Vergara said she “loved it” and thought it was “spectacular.”

Meanwhile, Cowell said he felt like he’s seen more “interesting” dance performances over the years, but noted, “Your energy was so infectious.” Mandel voted no because the routine wasn’t “up to par,” but the three other judges said yes, allowing the dance group to move forward.

Godfrey Daniels

Godfrey Daniels came onto the stage in some sort of a clown suit and stilts, but when he juggled a red ball around, he failed to impress. Mel B. quickly pushed her red buzzer, followed quickly by Vergara.

However, he eventually proved there may be more than meets the eye. He managed to somehow teleport around the arena, and Cowell was cracking up. “He was so funny,” he said, while Mandel noted, “That was my favorite act of the day.”

Mel admitted it wasn’t her “cup of tea,” while Vergara also wasn’t impressed. With those two nos, Godfrey did not move forward.

Vahtang

Vahtang came to America’s Got Talent all the way from Georgia (the country). He chose to “surprise” the judges without sharing his talent first.

Vahtang sang and beat-boxed to “Black Betty,” and the judges were certainly intrigued. “You are a one-man party,” Mandel gushed. “I loved it.”

Vergara said she had never seen someone perform a talent like this so well. “I’m so happy you made these two so excited,” Cowell said. “I certainly never, ever would’ve expected that. It was a surprise, I think, in a good way.” All four judges said yes to Vahtang.

Kameron Marshall

Next up was close-up magician Kameron Marshall. His card trick in front of the judges was mind-blowing. “You blew my brain away,” Mel B. said. “That was brilliant.”

Vergara called Kameron “amazing,” noting that she was especially impressed by his confidence and how fast he moved. Meanwhile, Cowell made sure Kameron knew that he’d have to take his act a step beyond cards if he moved forward.

Mandel agreed, but said he was confident that Kameron could do so. In the end, all four judges voted yes.

Darrell Moten

Darrell Moten was nervous heading into his audition, as it was his first time performing magic in front of a live audience, and he had a tough act to follow after Kameron.

Darrell chose Cowell to play his magic trick on, and he guessed the judge’s card incorrectly. Darrell ran off stage and asked to take a minute, leaving everyone feeling terrible for him. However, it was all part of the bit, as he quickly appeared on the stage via a video screen.

From there, he continued the trick on the screen, having an entire conversation with Cowell before appearing in the theater from the back of the room.

Mandel was literally speechless and noted that Kameron needs to take cues from Darrell to make his routine “bigger” in the future. Mel B. said she was “confused” by the act. “I didn’t really get it,” she admitted. However, Vergara “loved it.” She and Mandel said yes, while Mel said no, but Cowell’s yes moved Darrell through.

Nene Royal

Up next was Nene Royal, who came all the way from Thailand. Not only did she sing, but she also rocked out on electric guitar.

Vergara called Nene “spectacular” and said she has a “very good chance to do really well in this competition.” Mandel said the 15-year-old was a “rockstar,” and Mel B. praised her vocal control. “You’re like a match made in heaven,” she gushed.

Cowell praised Nene’s “authentic” tone and said the “messiness” of the audition made it “really good.” All four judges said yes for Nene to move on.

Royal Lasers

Next up, a husband and wife who met while dancing for the AGT residency in Las Vegas showed off their act, Royal Lasers. The routine mixed dancing and an incredible light show.

Crews was so impressed by the routine, that he raced out from behind the stage and to the judges table so he could press the Golden Buzzer, which means the Royal Lasers are headed to the Live Shows.

Jesse White Tumbling Team

The Jesse White Tumbling Team featured a group of talented tumblers of all ages from Chicago. They flew through the air with height like the judges have never seen before.

“This has been the most exciting thing that I’ve seen today,” Vergara admitted. “You guys literally fly. You know how to fly.” Mel B. called the routine “absolutely brilliant,” and Mandel agreed. “You kept getting higher and further and longer and more extreme than I could ever imagine!” he noted.

Finally, Cowell called the routine “sensational,” and all four judges voted yes for the group to move forward.

Israel Isaac

The next performance was from singer Israel Isaac. “You have a beautiful voice. It’s like silk,” Mel B. told him.

Cowell said Israel had a great voice, but didn’t feel like he held up in a live performance. In the end, he didn’t receive enough yeses to move forward.

Travis Garland

Another singer, Travis Garland, was up next. He was previously in the boy band NLT, but branched out on his own and is now ready to show off his solo career. Travis is also currently a singer on Dancing With the Stars.

With his performance of “Dream On,” Travis proved he was ready to be center stage. Mel B. even gave him a standing ovation.

“That is how you sing that song, brother. Putting everything aside, you’re obviously a very seasoned singer. I recognize that voice. It’s got soul, it’s got grit, it’s got passion, it’s got everything,” she raved.

Mandel thought the performance was too theatrical, leading to an argument between him and Mel. Vergara was in between. “I wish you picked another song, but your voice is spectacular,” she said. Cowell said he understood “what put Howie off,” but noted there was “no question” that Travis can sing.

Mandel said no, but Vergara and Cowell gave in and said yes, which means Travis is moving forward.

Abresh

From Ethiopia, Abresh performed a routine full of dangerous stunts, which included balancing on a basketball and other non-sturdy objects at higher and higher heights.

“I loved it,” Mandel said. “I loved the originality of what you’re doing. You are stepping up.” Vergara felt the routine was “messy” at first, but then realized how “difficult” the skill was.

Mel B. called it “proper entertainment,” which led into all four judges voting yes to Abresh.

Daniel Alvarez

Daniel Alvarez is in a wheelchair after being shot, and he can’t move his body from the neck down. He came to the show with his stand-up comedy routine.

“I think you are hilarious,” Cowell confirmed. “It’s the hardest thing, I think, to be a comedian, but you just got everyone. I think you are one of the funniest comedians we’ve had on this year.”

Mandel agreed with him, while Vergara gushed over how “funny” Daniel was by making fun of himself. “We all should be like you,” she shared. Daniel received four yeses to move on in the competition.

Neil & Bryan

After a failed audition from duo Jack & Haley, the final act of the night, Neil & Bryan, came to the stage with an original song they wrote for the Golden Buzzer.

The judges were flabbergasted, but the crowd was into it and started singing along. Mel B. pushed her red buzzer about halfway through the song.

“You will never win anything with this,” Vergara noted, and Mandel said, “I don’t think they can do well in this contest.” Mel had nothing to say but, “No. Just no.”

Needless to say, Daniel & Bryan won’t be moving on, but they brought some laughs to the set.

As mother and daughter executive producers Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke told TV Insider ahead of the season, The Way Home series finale did leave us with some questions. To get those answers, TV Insider spoke with them about what could’ve happened next, if there had been a Season 5. Warning: Spoilers for The Way Home series finale ahead!

As the finale revealed, Elliot (Evan Williams) survived being shot in 1926 and once both he and Kat (Chyler Leigh) were home in the present, he proposed and said yes; Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) is looking ahead to the future, one that could include Max (Dale Whibley); Del (Andie MacDowell), after getting a bit more time with Colton (Jefferson Brown) thanks to the pond is ready to move forward with Sam (Rob Stewart); and Jacob (Spencer MacPherson) married Abby (Holly Deveaux), and KC (Vaughan Murrae) is their child from the future. Plus, Kat and Alice end the series jumping into the pond, but when they end up remains a mystery.

Below, Clarke and Conkie answer some of our finale burning questions and reveal what would’ve happened in Season 5. (Read the rest of our interview with the executive producers about the series’ ending here.)

Did you ever seriously consider killing Elliot off?

Alexandra Clarke: No. I mean, I think even if we’d had a Season 5 — I think if we’d had a Season 5, we would have ended Season 4 on is he alive or is he dead versus what we had to do. But no, that journey, the arc of those two characters, especially if we’d only gotten to Season 5 and he’d been dead, and it was one season of Kat grieving and then bye. No, we would never.

Why the mystery around Nick’s (Kerry James) Claire and Alice meeting her?

Clarke: [Laughs]

Heather Conkie: That’s us being cheeky because there are some who actually think that Alice is Claire and vice versa. We left that open.

Clarke: We leave it open because you never know. There’s never say never, as we say, never say never. And we were just being very cheeky.

You could easily continue telling more stories in this world, like with these characters, with that ending or picking up with other Landrys. So what can you say about that possibility? Have there been any discussions, and what would you want to explore with the characters if you revisited them?

Clarke: We always talk about it, of course we do, and especially our cast, they’re all asking —

Conkie: And they all have their own ideas.

Clarke: Yeah, exactly. Yes, you’re right. I think there is plenty of room for more story, and yeah, we did have a Season 5 that we thought of initially as sort of part of the plan. So, yeah, I guess I keep wanting to say never say never, but look, I’m just so flattered that people have become so invested that that’s something they’re asking about.

Conkie: Yeah, it’s amazing. It tells us a lot about how people feel about the show. They take it very, very personally. I think this show has given a lot of people an insight into their own lives and I think that it’s a universal truth that they are facing because of the show and that five more minutes, who wouldn’t want that? We want five more minutes.

Clarke: I will say it’s been really amazing recently, I think in these last couple of episodes, people have reached out, and I read them all, and they’re all so beautiful about how the show touched them, whether it was because they were suffering from depression or lost a family member or were feeling really alone in a new town. Honestly, they’re all just such beautiful stories of how this show kind of took them and kept them company in really dark moments. And it’s amazing. And I think we can say the same about it. I mean, life is life, and there have been moments with Mom and I where personally we’ve been going through rough stuff as the show is being made, and it’s been a lifeline for us as well. It’s so touching to know that it’s been a lifeline for others.

So, what would Season 5 have looked like?

[Both laugh]

Conkie: You’re not going to let that go, are you?

Well, you brought it up.

Conkie: I would have loved to have spent more time with the Jacob love story, see it grow a little more. And I would have loved to have spent a little more time with the Max Alice love story, and, of course, the Elliot Kat story. And I would have loved to have seen the Del and Sam relationship move forward now that she knows she can and wants to. It would have been lovely.

Clarke: I would have loved to have seen the Griffin [Charles Vandervaart] and Tessa [Kelsey Falconer] of it all, leading up to the jump a little more as well as what life looked like for them when they landed, and seeing the Landry family in that era, which is — Susanna [Watson Rose] is gone by then, so it’s the next generation and seeing Tessa be taken into the homestead. We see a little sampling of it in Episode 8, but it would have been very cool to basically see why Tessa became Tessa.

Conkie: There’s so many possibilities, too. I would have loved to have seen younger Fern with Cassandra and their friendship and how that grew —

Clarke: A little Grayson and a little Cassandra.

Conkie: A little power-hungry Grayson.

Clarke: I mean, but that’s the thing, it’s so rich. It’s such a beautiful world, and there’s so many lovely eras. Yeah, it would have been great. But I think for the time that we had and the direction we wanted to take this year, I’m really proud of what we were able to show.

Once you knew this was the last season, you realized, OK, we need to build to the end, did you scrap anything that you had planned for Season 4 or is anything over the years that you had scrapped that you can talk about, significant storylines?

Conkie: I think everything we really knew was important we accomplished. Everything that we didn’t do, you put it out of your mind because it takes you down the wrong path, and you can get stuck in it. And that’s some of the hardest parts.

Clarke: I know one that we knew we couldn’t end up doing, which was seeing Rita in the ‘80s. Del sort of briefly mentions it at the lunch with everyone in Episode 8 that she met this new girl Rita at art school and she’s a hoot and everything. We would’ve loved to have seen Rita join those kitchen parties and see the young version of Rita. That would’ve been really fun.

Conkie: That would’ve been hard to cast.

Clarke: But that went away for sure in the writer’s room, knowing that time was of the essence.

You had said that if there had been a Season 5, Season 4 could have had the cliffhanger of is Elliot alive or dead? So would you just have stretched out the existing storylines in Season 4 and not added another one in to get to that 10 episodes?

Clarke: Yeah. I mean, I think we were really aware if we’d gotten that Season 5 that that in all likelihood would’ve been it. And so our plan would have been to not introduce a new era. But our model has always been you introduce an era, and then the next season, it takes the B story. And so we introduced the ‘20s in Season 4. We would’ve done B story of the ‘20s in Season 5, but not delved into another era necessarily. Maybe hinted at things, but really kind of just do a fuller look at the era as we already know.

Say this is it, and we don’t get to revisit the characters. What do you imagine is next for Kat, Elliot, Alice, Del, and Jacob?

Conkie: I think Alice will become a star. She’ll take off —

Clarke: “Already Home”‘s going to go to the top of the charts.

Conkie: Beautiful. And I think that Sam and Del would maybe not get married, but certainly be together in a much more modern relationship as opposed to tying the knot. Elliot and Kat would definitely have gotten married. I would’ve liked to have seen her get pregnant again because he brought it up at some point and she said, “It’s still something we can discuss. It’s up for discussion.” Let’s do it. I would’ve loved to have seen that. I would’ve loved to have seen more detail on Jacob as a dad and what happened to K.C.’s mom.

Clarke: In my perfect mind, what are they doing right now? I think they’re doing exactly what we would expect them to be doing, which is when Alice isn’t off chasing her dreams in New York and really fully realizing her potential there and when Jacob isn’t running that farm with Danny [Peyson Rock] and coming home to Abby at the end of the day in the Landry Farm and Kat and Elliot are over at Elliot’s house living their best life, I think they’re going down to that pond. I just don’t think that will ever go away. But in our mind, Del and Sam are traveling. I think Del deserves a little time off. Del deserves a vacation. I can picture them on a river cruise. I don’t know why, but that’s very Del and Sam.

I think what I like about the way that you’re in the series is there’s more of a joy and a lightness to the way that they can use the pond going forward, that they’re not weighed down by the past now. It’s kind of just like they can enjoy what’s coming up for them when they jump in there.

Clarke: And you raise a good point because the lore of the one has been completed. They know who the one is. That’s not a scary thing anymore. It happened, and now they understand who it happened to and why. And so I think that the weight of that is lifted for sure — until they jump and come across their next life-threatening adventure, and then it’ll probably get scary again. But no, I think one of the other things that I could imagine will happen and I’d like to imagine happen is Kat kind of take on the role of a Susanna in writing the history of her family and bringing the knowledge of the pond back to the forefront and have it be a dialogue within the home, not so many secrets. And clearly that’s what happens because K.C. knows about the pond and is very vocal about it. And they also say, “In my time, you Landrys talk about these days like your golden…” It’s very clear that that dialogue is very open in their time. And so I think Kat is kind of the linchpin and the reason for why. And when we see her start to write that book, I think that book, whether it becomes something that she veils as fiction and publishes worldwide, or whether it’s just something just very similar to the almanac and Elijah’s [Stuart Hughes] beautiful story of the miracle boy that he wrote in the almanac and it’s kept solely for family, I think she’s the reason why there are no more secrets.

Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) may be walking around Genoa City, having been certified by a doctor that she’s no longer a threat to folks. However, fans of The Young and the Restless haven’t forgotten or forgiven her kidnapping Colleen Cartlon (Tammin Sursok) all those years ago. Poor Colleen escaped Patty’s clutches only to drown in a lake.

Colleen’s mother, Traci Abbott, played by Daytime Emmy-winner Beth Maitland, finally got to lay into Patty for her evil actions that robbed her of her daughter. TV Insider is honoring Maitland with our Performer of the Week honors for her tour de force!

Traci spied Patty at Chancellor Park Café with Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), and right away, she knew that they were up to no good!

“You can stuff the phony pleasantries, Patty,” Traci stated after Patty tried to smooth things over with some, well, phony pleasantries. “I despise you, and that will never change. So, let’s not pretend it’s anything otherwise.”

Most characters on soaps will scheme and lie, but Maitland has always brought a sense of good-hearted honesty to her role, one of the many reasons that the character is a fan favorite. But that doesn’t mean Traci won’t let loose when people deserve it, and Patty certainly does!

Patty tried to sell Traci that Dr. Markham had come to Genoa City to check up on her, but Traci wasn’t buying. “I think you can do better than that, Patty,” Traci shrugged. “This lie is very unbecoming.”

Patty had the audacity to apologize to Traci and her family for her actions, but Traci remained firm in her stance. “This is so incredibly rehearsed,” Traci stated. “You know what? You should get cards printed up. It would be so much easier. You could hand over a card instead of wasting your breath.”

Patty’s plan to re-win Jack’s (Peter Bergman) heart is an uphill battle. And thanks to Maitland bringing a strong reserve to Traci, Patty’s journey is going to be all that much harder.

“Remember who you’re talking to,” Traci said. “I am the mother of a girl who died because of you, and now you want my forgiveness for that.”

Soap antagonists count on characters forgetting, misremembering, or forgiving their horrific actions, but Maitland’s Traci speaks for the audience each and every time she fires back at Patty and calls things as they are.

There is no stronger force in the world than a mother’s love for her child. To deny Traci the opportunity to blast Patty would have been unforgiveable. Patty’s persistence was frustrating for Traci to hear, but it just gave Maitland more of a platform to have her character fire back.

“No. You’re not,” Traci responded, refusing to back down, after Patty claimed to regret her actions. “You are not sorry for anything. And there is not a single soul in the entire town that believes you’ve changed — least of all me!”

Traci’s known for her honesty, but she’s also incredibly loyal to her family. So, when Jack asked Traci and other family members to play along with his scheme to make Patty think that she was in the driver’s seat so she’d help lead him to Diane (Susan Walters), Traci showed that she’s an actress along with being an author.

“We can see that you have made up your mind,” Traci faux tersely told Jack after he announced that Patty was sticking around. “Goodbye, Jack.”

At the Genoa City Athletic Club, Traci let her guard down with Lily (Christel Khalil) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), confiding in them of Jack’s plan to lull Patty into a false sense of security.

Patty’s clearly not reformed or in her right mind, two things she’s professed are the case, as she’d arranged for Diane to be kidnapped.

However, Maitland’s Traci helps ground this story, providing a balance to Patty’s outlandish schemes. As Traci, Maitland brings common sense to the larger-than-life predicaments in which characters from Y&R find themselves.

Brava to Maitland for having Traci cut loose against the woman whose actions resulted in the death of her only daughter, and for being the emotional anchor that her family needs.

The Young and the Restless, Weekdays, CBS

The Bear‘s final season is nearly here, which makes it a perfect time to reminisce on some of the show’s most memorable moments.

TV Insider was on site for FX‘s celebration of The Bear‘s Final Family Meal in New York City, where we caught up with the cast, including Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, who play fan favorites Carmy Berzatto and Sydney Adamu. While viewers will follow them back into the kitchen for the final chapter of the hit series from creator Christopher Storer, this event marked the beginning of their farewell to the show, stirring up some nostalgia.

Considering the momentous occasion, we asked the stars to share a memory, moment, episode, scene, or other aspect of filming that will stick with them long after the final credits roll. ” I mean, there are so many,” White tells us. “I’ve gotten to see so many great performances so close up,” he notes, adding, “There was the Season 2 Christmas episode, and being at that table with so many great actors… sitting in these long takes… it felt like theater, it felt really exciting being with Jamie Lee [Curtis].”

White also wanted to highlight another moment Carmy shares with his onscreen mom Donna (played by Curtis), mentioning the Season 4 episode, “having her kind of make her amends to Carmy and witnessing her there.”

But he also couldn’t forget the heart of the show, which is the culinary aspect that ties everyone together. “Anytime in the kitchen,” White cites, recalling Season 1’s “Review” and “the one single take” and “having to work in unison not only in an emotional rhythm but a technical rhythm.”

Edebiri shares similar sentiments, saying, “I love our crew so much; we have the greatest crew in all of Chicago, and they are such beautiful communicators, with each other and then in turn with us as the actors… It’s not so common when the cinematographer — our DP — and our director are talking that the camera operator will pull me aside and be like, ‘This is the shot, this is how we’re gonna walk it through,’” she reveals. “That’s not always a given, because they all have a trust in each other to know that they can delegate with each other.”

As fans will recall, Edebiri stepped behind the camera to direct Season 3’s Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas) focused episode, “Napkins,” which followed her journey to the Beef where she ultimately met Mikey (Jon Bernthal) and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). Edebiri also wrote Season 4’s installment “Worms” with costar Lionel Boyce, which featured guest star Danielle Deadwyler.

Considering Edebiri’s multi-faceted experience with the series, her favorite memory is more technical than tied to any one particular story arc or performance, as she shares, “I have a memory with Gary [Malouf], our cameraman, of us just walking through and holding on to each other as if his eye was the camera and he was me and us just walking through when we had to do one of our oners.”
