California voters headed to the polls Tuesday, June 2, in one of the most closely watched primary elections of 2026, with major races for governor, Los Angeles mayor, attorney general and congressional seats. As ballots are still counted across the state, several high-profile races are still undecided under California’s top-two primary system.

Mail-in voting remains widespread in California, which means that final results could take days or even weeks to finalize.

Below, get updates on the results of the California primary election of 2026.

Who Won the California Primary for Governor?

The California governor’s race is still too close to call as election officials tabulate ballots statewide. According to CNN‘s live election results, former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Republican commentator Steve Hilton were the leading candidates in early returns. Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer was trailing the top two candidates as the ballot counting continued.

At the time of publication, Hilton is leading with 27.8 percent, and Becerra is up to 25.4 percent.

With Governor Gavin Newsom‘s term concluding, the open-seat race attracted a field of candidates from both political parties. Early results suggest Becerra and Hilton are in the strongest position to advance to November’s general election.

The gubernatorial race has been shaped by concerns over housing affordability, homelessness and public safety.

Who Won the Primary for L.A. Mayor?

Incumbent Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has secured a spot in the November runoff election, according to multiple reports. Early returns showed Bass leading the field with about one-third of the vote.

Meanwhile, reality television personality Spencer Pratt appeared to be on track for the second runoff position, but ballots are still being counted.

As Bass seeks a second term with L.A., Pratt has made headway with his story of losing his home to the Palisades Fire last year.

California House Districts Primary Election Results

Among the notable contests, state Senator Scott Wiener was leading in the House race to succeed retiring Representative Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco, while a number of newly redrawn congressional districts produced competitive primary battles across the state.

California’s newly adopted congressional map has increased interest in several districts that could help determine the balance of power in Washington. Political analysts are closely watching a handful of competitive races where the top-two primary system could produce unexpected November matchups.

California Attorney General Primary Results

The race for California attorney general is also unfolding as ballots are counted. Incumbent Attorney General Rob Bonta is seeking another term. Republican Michael Gates and other candidates also competed for a place in the November election.

Election officials are still processing vote-by-mail and provisional ballots that could affect the final standings.

Longtime action megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger has shown no signs of slowing down over the last decade and change, even after a seven-year tenure as the Governor of California. Along with a leading role in Netflix’s FUBAR and a return to the Terminator saga in 2015 and 2019, Schwarzenegger took on an uncredited role as Trench in 2010’s The Expendables. He then reprised the role in 2012’s The Expendables 2 and 2014’s The Expendables 3, which featured him alongside a laundry list of Hollywood’s biggest action stars (including the late Chuck Norris).

The Expendables 2‘s cast also included then-young up-and-comer Liam Hemsworth, best known at the time as the younger brother of MCU star Chris Hemsworth. After playing disenchanted ex-SASR sniper Billy the Kid alongside Schwarzenegger, Hemsworth went on to even bigger roles, continuing his tenure in the Hunger Games franchise and taking on another sequel in 2016’s Independence Day: Resurgence. Now, Hemsworth and Schwarzenegger are set to join forces for a second time in a film that just got picked up by one of the biggest studios in the business.

Deadline reported that Amazon MGM Studios has landed the rights to a new action movie titled The Kellys, which will star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Hemsworth. This film will be available to stream on Prime Video, but it does not have a production or release timeframe yet. This film will center on a disgraced New York City cop named Jack Kelly as his wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. This will lead to him joining forces with people described as those he fears the most, his family, to save her.

This new action movie will be directed by Brad Peyton, known for his work on multiple movies with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, such as 2018’s Rampage and 2015’s San Andreas. He will work off of a script written by Tze Chun, whose most notable work is seen in Gotham and Once Upon a Time.

While the rest of the cast and characters are still being filled out for The Kellys, this will give Schwarzenegger and Hemsworth another exciting action movie in which they can combine their talents together. It will be their second time working together after first linking up on The Expendables 2, with this movie expected to feature both of them heavily and give them more screentime together than their first efforts did.

Sylvester Stallone’s hit crime drama Tulsa King is set to make a big change in season 5 that could end up making the entire series feel completely different. Tulsa King, which was created by Taylor Sheridan, has long been one of Paramount+’s best shows. By the time Tulsa King season 3 ended, it was one of the most-watched and most successful shows on the entire streaming service, and Tulsa King season 4 is already expected to premiere in late 2026.

When a show is as successful as Tulsa King has proven to be, they’ll often try not to change anything drastically. Tulsa King, for the most part, has done this. The vast majority of the cast of Tulsa King is still around, Dwight’s empire in Oklahoma is still growing, and the gang has defeated every enemy that has come at them so far. Season 4 seems on track to do the same, but the show also has a major behind-the-scenes change on the horizon.

In the past, Tulsa King has been able to weather behind-the-scenes changes and controversies fairly well. The show has switched showrunners several times, Taylor Sheridan left the project, and more. In fact, Tulsa King is doing better than ever, with a planned spinoff, Frisco King, also in development. A new report, however, has indicated that Tulsa King season 5 will have a huge change that could make the entire series unrecognizable.

Tulsa King Season 5 Is Reportedly Moving Production To New York

According to a new report, Tulsa King season 5 is moving filming and production to New York. Previously, Tulsa King season 1 was filmed onsite in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, while seasons 2, 3, and 4 were filmed in Georgia. While several scenes of previous Tulsa King seasons have been filmed in New York thanks to Dwight’s connection to New York mobsters, the bulk of filming and production took place in the South.

The decision to move Tulsa King from Georgia to New York was reportedly partially due to budgetary reasons and partially due to “storyline considerations.” As far as the budget goes, New York has recently improved its tax incentives for filming and production companies, and those tax breaks are likely better than the ones offered by the State of Georgia. It’s worth noting that Tulsa King originally left Oklahoma for Georgia partially due to tax breaks in the first place.

Tulsa King Season 5’s Plans Signal A Big Shift For Dwight & His Criminal Empire

Tulsa King season 5’s switch to filming in New York has some major implications for the show’s plot. As previously noted, part of the rationale for the change was “storyline considerations.” If the bulk of filming is moving to New York, those “storyline considerations” could mean that Dwight will return to New York in Tulsa King season 5. Nothing’s confirmed yet, but it seems the creators of the show have a plan to send Dwight home.

There are two likely scenarios that could send Dwight back to New York full-time. The first, and less likely, is his daughter, Tina Manfredi. Dwight and Tina’s relationship is very rocky following Tulsa King season 2’s finale, and Dwight may decide to try to patch things up with his estranged daughter. That doesn’t seem entirely likely, however, as Tina actress Tatiana Zappardino left the show for an entire season. She could, however, make a return, as nothing definitive befell Tina.

The most likely explanation for the relocation to New York is Dwight’s ties to the New York mob. Quiet Ray sent an assassin after Dwight, after all, and there’s still quite a score to settle there. Vince, as well, is making power plays among New York’s families, and Dwight could easily insert himself into those machinations. At this point, it seems like Tulsa King season 5 is preparing to have Dwight reckon with his past and possibly attempt to take over New York City.

Even with those explanations for the shift in venue, this would be a massive change for Tulsa King. Since the very beginning, Tulsa King has been about Dwight setting off on his own and creating a criminal empire in Oklahoma. The entire series is both a “fish out of water” story and a story about Dwight putting his past behind him and becoming his own man. The Tulsa setting was what set Tulsa King apart from other mob shows, and it seems the series is now abandoning that defining characteristic.

It will also be very strange to see more of New York than Tulsa. New York has always had an impact on the show, but the focus has been squarely on Tulsa since the start. Dwight only returns to New York sparingly, like when his brother died or when he had to meet with Quiet Ray. Tulsa King will also presumably have to dial back the focus on the other members of Dwight’s gang, and someone like Mitch or Goodie will have to stay in Oklahoma to run things while Dwight is in New York.

Everything fans know and love about Tulsa King is subject to change because of this decision. The Oklahoma setting, the family dynamics of Dwight and his crew, the B-plots surrounding supporting characters like Tyson and Bodhi, and even Dwight’s relationship with Margaret, could all be upended if he goes to New York. It’s far too soon to tell if this is a good or bad decision yet, but it certainly has the potential to make Tulsa King unrecognizable in comparison to its first four seasons.

Tulsa King’s Production Change Also Makes An Existing Problem Even Worse

The change in Tulsa King season 5’s filming location has major implications on the show, but it also makes a real-life problem even worse. The first season of Tulsa King was, as the title of the series suggests, primarily filmed on location in Tulsa and other Oklahoma cities. Tulsa King season 2, however, moved production to Savannah, Georgia, reportedly due to budget concerns, as Georgia has lucrative tax breaks for production companies, and because the show’s cast complained about the extreme heat in Oklahoma (via The Oklahoman).

Filming a show named Tulsa King in Georgia was immediately a controversial decision. Tulsa and Oklahoma at large are massive parts of Tulsa King‘s identity and story. Many fans of the show were upset that a show with “Tulsa” in its name wasn’t even filmed in Oklahoma for seasons 2 and 3. The filming location was already a problem when it was in Georgia, but given the state’s Southern location and some rural filming areas, it could at least believably pass as Oklahoma.

Now that Tulsa King season 5 is set to film in New York, this controversy surrounding filming locations will almost surely get worse. There are rural parts of upstate New York that could pass as Oklahoma, but the state is far from Southern. This change in production could easily be construed as a loss of the show’s authenticity and a departure from the show’s central conceit, of a mob boss founding a criminal empire in the South.

Even if Tulsa King addresses the change in filming location within the show itself, this change could add to the problems with authenticity. Tulsa King is, by its very title and every season so far, a show about a New York mobster being a fish out of water and learning the ins and outs of life in Oklahoma while he establishes a criminal empire. If Dwight spends most of Tulsa King season 5 in New York, it will feel like a completely different show from the first four seasons.

‘Backrooms’ Boosts Streaming Totals for Little-Known Songs by The Caretaker and Christopher Saint

President Trump has confirmed that he called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “crazy” and used an expletive during a heated telephone call this week that halted planned Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s capital Beirut.

Trump acknowledged he made the remarks when asked by conservative writer Miranda Devine on her podcast, Pod Force One.

“I did. I wouldn’t say angry. I was a little bit perturbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon. You know, at some point I said, ‘Bibi we got to stop this. We got to stop it,'” Trump said.

Trump’s remarks in the Monday call to Netanyahu were first reported by Axios.

Netanyahu recently ordered a major military operation in southern Lebanon against the militant group Hezbollah. He said it was in response to Hezbollah fire on communities in northern Israel.

The Israeli leader went to Israel’s northern border last Friday and told Israeli troops to “keep striking Hezbollah relentlessly.” He went on to say, “Keep going with great success until the mission is complete.”

Netanyahu went further on Monday. He put out a statement saying Israel would carry out airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, where many group leaders are based.

That prompted many Lebanese citizens in that part of the city to get in their cars and started fleeing, creating massive traffic jams.

Officially, Israel and Hezbollah are supposed to be observing a truce that’s part of the broader ceasefire in the Iran war.

Iran responded to the Israeli military operation by saying it would stop the indirect negotiations with the U.S.

Trump then called Netanyahu, who has called off airstrikes on Beirut, at least for now.

However, Israel has continued to conduct ground operations and airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

In his remarks on the podcast, Trump insisted he still had a good relationship with Netanyahu.

“I like Bibi a lot and I’ve worked very well with him,” Trump said. “I’m a wartime president. He’s a wartime prime minister.”

Israel’s media and many politicians have criticized Netanyahu, saying he’s been too weak to stand up to Trump. They claim Trump has now forced Israel to accept three ceasefires that Israel opposed — in Gaza, Iran, and now Lebanon.

Ben Caspit, a prominent columnist with the Maariv newspaper, and a frequent critic of Netanyahu, wrote, “The truth needs to be said: Israeli policy is dictated by Trump’s social media posts.”

Trump and Netanyahu coordinated closely to launch the Iran war three months ago and broadly shared the same goals, which included toppling the Islamic government and dismantling the country’s nuclear program.

Today, Trump is clearly focused on a deal that would involve compromises with Iran. Netanyahu has consistently favored maintaining military pressure in order to weaken Iran’s government and military as much as possible.

RELX is an ideal long-term British retirement holding because it delivers stability through recurring subscription revenues (over 50% of income), high margins, and exceptional free cash flow of ~27% of revenue.

The company has grown net income by 8.59% year-on-year, maintains a 20.5% net profit margin, and has increased dividends for 15 consecutive years. Dividend growth is typically in the high-single-digits and the payout ratio is around 62%.

With £2.59bn in annual free cash flow and £2.61bn operating cash flow, its debt load looks manageable, albeit a bit high.

A more pressing risk is the disruptional threat of generative AI, which could change how professionals access information.

AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca (LSE: AZN) is another standout long-term retirement holding to consider. It offers exceptional stability through a diversified oncology-focused drug portfolio, strong cash flow generation, and a disciplined balance sheet.

The company reported FY 2025 revenue of £46.3bn (up 8%), with Q4 2025 revenue rising 4% to £12.2bn. Looking ahead to FY 2026, the pharma giant anticipates mid-to-high single-digit total revenue growth and low double-digit core EPS growth.

The dividend yield isn’t much at just 1.73%, but the payout ratio of only 46% allows room for growth. Its balance sheet shows total assets of £82.3bn against liabilities of £50.5bn, demonstrating financial resilience.

A key risk is patent expirations, including Farxiga (£6bn annual sales) losing exclusivity, which could pressure revenue if pipeline launches don’t offset the decline.

Diploma

Diploma (LSE: DPLM) offers exceptional stability through diversified exposure to three essential industries: life sciences, industrial controls, and safety. It enjoys strong cash generation and enacts disciplined capital allocation.

The company reported strong FY25 numbers: an 11% rise in revenue to £1,524.5m and adjusted operating profit up 20% to £342.7m. It also has excellent operating margins at around 22.5%. Free cash flow was £247.2m with 105% conversion, while leverage is conservative at 0.8 times net debt/EBITDA.

Like AstraZeneca, it’s a growth-focused stock with a low 1.1% dividend yield. But with just a 43.85% payout ratio and 10.78% average dividend growth over three years, it shows promise.

A key risk is acquisition integration and execution, as Diploma’s growth strategy relies on both organic growth and selective acquisitions in competitive markets.

Final thoughts

When looking for stocks to hold for a decade or longer, it’s important to look beyond the headline growth and income figures. A company that’s up 100% in a year is unlikely to maintain that momentum indefinitely. A stock with a 9% yield probably lacks sufficient coverage and will need to reduce payments soon.

Instead, focus on things like diverse income streams, earnings visibility, and recurring revenues. The three mentioned here fit those criteria, but they aren’t alone — there are many other equally compelling options to consider on the UK market.
