Married at First Sight is a reality television show on Lifetime that first aired in 2014. It aims to match singles with their perfect partner based on “scientific matchmaking”, has them get married upon first meeting, and then follows the couples throughout the first few months of marriage. Couples move into an apartment together and are given tasks and bonding exercises by the show’s experts in an attempt to see whether the relationship could work outside the experiment, with varying levels of success.
Update July 11, 2023: Fans of this social experiment will be happy to know this list has been updated to include a more accurate record of the couples still together after season 16.
Couples also take part in weekly dinner parties, giving them the chance to socialize with other couples and see how each marriage has been developing, followed by a Commitment Ceremony where the experts give the couples a chance to speak about the previous week, as well as attempt to solve any issues that are arising. The show ends with a final Commitment Ceremony, where couples decide whether they want to remain married. Whilst it sounds like something you’d watch once and think you’ve seen it all, this social experiment has run for 16 seasons and has more seasons in the works. The real question is: does this work? Some of these couples that are still together from Married at First Sight would have to say it does!
Jamie and Doug
Jamie and Doug were part of the first season of Married at First Sight and quickly proved nonbelievers wrong. Jamie came to Married at First Sight ready for love and no stranger to dating shows after appearing on season 16 of The Bachelor and season 3 of Bachelor Pad. Since their time on the show, the couple has been happy to share their lives together with their own spin-off, Married at First Sight: Jamie and Doug Plus One, in addition to their own podcast and a very active social media presence. The pair have done a lot to raise awareness for pregnancy loss after the loss of their son Johnathon and have welcomed two rainbow babies, their daughter Henley and their son Hendrix.
Ashley and Anthony
Ashley and Anthony were the only pair to stay together in season five, but also the first couple to stay together since season one. Like a few other happy couples, they have appeared on the spin-off show Couple’s Cam in the years following their marriage. The pair have expanded their family, welcoming Mila Rose in January 2019 and Vaeda Marie in February 2021 and detailing their lives as a family on social media. Ashley and Anthony made it clear on the show how brilliant their connection was and are continuing to do so with their two daughters!
Shawniece and Jephte
Shawniece and Jephte from season six initially struggled to find a connection but ended up being the only couple from their season to stay together. During their time on the show, the pair separated briefly but came back together and chose not to get a divorce at the Commitment Ceremony. The couple has shown why it can be good to give things a second chance, as the pair now have a beautiful daughter named Laura and will shortly be celebrating their 6th anniversary.
Kristine and Keith
Despite a rocky start, Kristine and Keith are happily married. They also appeared on Couples Cam, which allowed them to show how much they’ve grown together since season 8. These fan favorites have become rock solid, having purchased a home together that they’ve been living in since 2019. The couple detailed the difficulties behind the scenes of healthcare professionals during the pandemic, with Keith working tirelessly throughout. Today they share the ins and outs of their relationship and home life with fans.
Danielle and Bobby
Danielle and Bobby were an obvious pair from the start, so it came as no surprise that they stayed together well after season 7 ended. The pair have welcomed Olivia, who was born in February 2019, and Robert “Bobby” Dodd IV, who was born in December 2020 and are preparing for baby number 3. The couple has now been happily married for over 5 years and continue to share their lives with their fans on social media.
Stephanie and AJ
Stephanie and AJ had immediate sparks, and they did not fizzle out — the two are still together after their season 8 wedding. They appeared on the Married At First Sight spin-off show Couples Cam, where fans got a look into their post-show life. Together, AJ and Stephanie have lived an exciting married life, filled with lots of travel and adventures that the pair share on their social media. Frequently appearing in each other’s photos, it would appear these two are still as strong as ever!
Deonna and Gregory
Even though Deonna and Gregory had some communication issues during season 9, they were a fan favorite because of the way their romance slowly simmered into a beautiful love. Their love has only continued to grow since then, and they often refer to each other as their best friend. The pair welcomed their first child, Declan, on February 27th, 2021. Since then, fans have gotten the opportunity to watch their love grow alongside their beautiful baby boy as they document their life as a family and as a couple.
Jessica and Austin
Jessica and Austin from season 10 seemed destined from the start, which makes it unsurprising that they were the only ones to stay together from that season. The couple live together and have adopted a dog, and in November 2021, they welcomed baby Westin. The couple continues to share moments from their wonderful romance and life as parents, and Jessica shares her experiences as a Labor and Delivery RN.
Amani and Woody
Amani and Woody had a special connection from the beginning of season 11, and since their season ended, it has only grown stronger. They welcomed their first child on June 3, 2022, a bouncing baby boy called Reign Randall. Amani and Woody celebrated their third wedding anniversary in 2023, and the thrilled parents share their experiences as parents and continue to show fans how strong their connection really is with their adorable family photos.
Karen and Miles
Karen and Miles have been the center of separation rumors, but neither has confirmed a split. The couple had their ups and downs throughout season 11 but decided to stay together at the Commitment Ceremony. Whilst Miles alluded to a possible separation at Essence Festival earlier this year, neither has officially confirmed the extent of this separation or whether they’re looking to end things entirely. In any instance, hopefully, both Karen and Miles are doing what is best for them!
Briana and Vincent
Briana and Vincent were the only couple from Season 12 who stuck it out, and they still seem very happy! They celebrated their second wedding anniversary this January as well as welcoming their first child, who they named Aury Bella Morales. Her name means Golden Beauty, and she is certainly a beautiful baby! Briana and Vincent are overjoyed with their new baby girl, and based on their Instagram stories and posts, they love being parents. Between their Instagram and their YouTube channel, the pair are keeping fans up to date with all the exciting events in their lives.
Nicole and Christopher
Nicole and Christopher proved the doubters wrong following their appearance in season 16, one of which was Nicole’s father! The couple hit their first bump in the road early when Nicole’s father was, understandably, concerned for his daughter and wanted to make sure Chris would treat her well. Chris took this in stride and assured Nicole’s father that he would be loyal to Nicole. Together, Chris and Nicole defied the odds, becoming not only the only couple to stay together in season 16 but also the only couple to still be together since Brianna and Vincent in season 12. The couple remains happily married and keep their fans updated on their lives as well as the lives of their three dogs, Kodah, Kobe, and Charlie.
Does It Work?
For an experiment that aims to use science to find a person’s perfect match, Married at First Sight doesn’t have a brilliant record. Of the couples who have entered the show, the overwhelming majority have decided to separate by the end of the show. Only a select few end up deciding to stay together at the Commitment Ceremony, and even fewer go on to have happy marriages after that. However, the couples in this list have proven it isn’t impossible and will likely continue to be the inspiration for many future contestants to keep applying.
