Concerns over supermarket tax raid as drinks face price hike of up to 18p per bottle | UK | Travel

0

A tax hike could cause shopping bills to skyrocket and alcohol prices to increase by as much as 18p per bottle. A multi-billion recycling levy, which taxes organisations for the packaging they supply or import into the UK, is expected to cost the sector around £2 billion and be passed onto consumers.

The Food and Drink Federation estimates the EPR (extended producer responsibility) tax will add 12p to a bottle of wine, 6p to a bottle of beer, and 18p per bottle of spirits. EPR intends to lower the amount of unsustainable packaging. But supermarkets have said it could match national insurance contribution hikes without improving the use of sustainable packaging. The levy taxes products according to weight, so even though the base rate for glass is lower, less sustainable plastic packaging could actually face the lowest cost.

The Bank of England’s economy health check stated that many businesses “expect the impact of the EPR could be similar to that of the increases in employer NICs”.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) estimates it will add £2 billion in costs across the sector, compared with an estimated £2.33 billion for national insurance contribution increases.

Marks and Spencer predicts a £40 million EPR bill. Its chief executive, Stuart Machin, claimed last month it would be “20 times the current amount with £2bn going straight to the Treasury as general taxation and no improvement to recycling”.

One supermarket boss added: “The current proposals treat it as a way of funding councils, many of whom have completely inadequate facilities for handling waste packaging.”

Andrew Opie at the BRC has concerns the tax will not be spent on improving recycling.

He said: “The money is not ring-fenced in local authority budgets, which means when the Government passes this money over from retailers to local authorities, it doesn’t have to sit in a budget which says this must be used for recycling.

“Knowing where local authorities are with their budgets at the moment, it’s perfectly feasible to think that they will spend this on things other than recycling.”

In November 2024, retailers wrote to Rachel Reeves calling to push back the EPR, with its previous 2024 launch date having already been delayed once.

Is today’s 15% jump in the Aston Martin share price the start of a stunning recovery?

0

The Aston Martin (LSE: AML) share price is racing ahead today, up almost 15% this morning.

That’s good news for me, as I was daft enough to buy the James Bond car maker last year. I bought it to take advantage of a 90%+ drop in the value of its shares. Surely they couldn’t drop any further, could they? I should have known better.

Despite today’s impressive rebound, Aston Martin shares are still down 54% over one year and 97% over five.

So is today’s rebound the start of a brilliant return to form? I’m not convinced. To me, it looks like Aston Martin shares have just been swept up in current stock market volatility. They fell 9% yesterday. They tend to plunge faster than the market when investors are feeling nervous, and soar faster when they’re feeling bullish.

How risky is this FTSE 250 stock?

When the company publishes results, the outcome is easier to predict. More pain for people like me. The FTSE 250 group’s latest market update was released on 26 February, and it wasn’t good.

Aston Martin reported a widening of pre-tax losses to £289.1m, up from £239.8m the year before. Revenue dipped 3% to £1.58bn, while wholesale volumes fell 9% to 6,030. These don’t indicate recovery mode to me.

Management is cutting around 5% of its global workforce, shedding 170 jobs. This should save around £25m but cost-cutting can only go so far. Aston Martin still needs to drive revenues, and that remains a challenge.

Once again, it’s delayed the launch of its first electric vehicle — that luxury car customers probably don’t want anyway. It’s now scheduled for “the latter part of the decade“. Never say never. I suspect this is the board’s favoured timescale.

New-ish CEO Adrian Hallmark remains upbeat as he shifts the group’s focus to “operational execution and delivering financial sustainability”. The company is pinning hopes on its upcoming Valhalla hybrid supercar, expected in the second half of 2025. We’ll see.

Meanwhile, external risks loom. The second Trump presidency could potentially see the US slap 25% tariffs on UK-made vehicles. That would hit Aston Martin hard. Struggles in China, another key market, aren’t helping.

It’s a hugely volatile recovery play

The 10 analysts offering one-year share price forecasts have produced a median target of 135p. If correct, that’s a staggering increase of more than 60% from today’s 84p.

Those forecasts were produced before the latest slump. They won’t reflect last month’s results or the last few turbulent days.

I wouldn’t suggest any sign investor considers buying Aston Martin shares. I’m only holding on because selling my greatly reduced stake would barely cover the trading costs. I jest, but only just.

And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, this could be the start of something. Perhaps Amazon’s Jeff Bezos will buy Aston Martin to match his purchase of the James Bond franchise.

He could certainly afford it. The group’s market cap of just £782m would be small change to him. For the record, nobody has suggested Amazon will buy Aston Martin but hope springs eternal!

Hope can also be expensive, especially the blind type. Blind hope is possibly the only reason to buy Aston Martin shares today. It didn’t work out for me.

Jennifer Coolidge Put ‘The White Lotus’ Behind Her for ‘Riff Raff’

0

Jennifer Coolidge was eager to try something different after her acclaimed time on The White Lotus. The role of Tanya, however, worked in her favor for Riff Raff, her new star-studded film. Director Dito Montiel fell in love with The White Lotus and Coolidge’s portrayal of Tanya. So much so that he wanted the actress to come aboard his new dark comedy. “I think he did say he wanted me to do it because he saw The White Lotus and said, ‘I know that lady,’ or whatever,” Coolidge told MovieWeb in a recent interview. “But hopefully, I did something different [from Tanya] because I didn’t see that much of a similarity in the two characters.”

Jennifer Coolidge may be eager for audiences to see her new crime comedy Riff Raff, but like so many other people watching Season 3 of The White Lotus right now, she wants to see Jon Gries’ character, Greg, bite it. “I hope he gets it!” Coolidge beamed in a recent interview with Forbes. “I hope they do something terrible to him.” So do a lot of other viewers.

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Review: Thailand Tests Guests’ Spirits in Tense New Season

A predictable structure stays interesting thanks to the surprising returns, great performances, and thrilling tension of Season 3.

Gries has been one of the show’s biggest surprises this season, mostly because fans are still reeling over the death of the character of Tanya, whom Coolidge portrayed for two seasons in the hit show, nabbing two Emmys in the process. This season, “Greg” is going by the name of Gary. But none of us can forget Tanya and Greg’s messy marriage from last season, and how Greg allegedly hired people to kill her. You know the now classic Tanya line: “These gays. They’re trying to murder me!”

From ‘The White Lotus’ to ‘Riff Raff’

Coolidge plays Ruth in Riff Raff, which was written by John Pollono. The character is, in fact, different from Tanya. Let’s just say that outspoken Ruth has plenty of grit and spunk. Ruth finds herself in dire straits when her son, played by Lewis Pullman, goes on the run from crime lords and, in an effort to spare her life, decides to drag her along with him and his pregnant girlfriend (Emanuela Postacchini). The trio arrive at a peaceful cabin in the woods where Ruth’s ex, and former criminal Vincent (Ed Harris), is vacationing with his new family (Gabrielle Union and Miles J. Harvey). Michael Angelo Corvino, Pete Davidson, and Bill Murray costar.

Filled with big twists and splashes of graphic violence, the dark humor hits the mark as the criminals descend upon this mismatched bunch. Coolidge told MovieWeb that she enjoyed her new role and that director Dito Montiel, “had a very specific idea of how he wanted the character to go.” She added:

“And I have to say, he’s a brilliant director. I got incredible guidance from him while we were filming. But he would always tell someone else to tell me what he wanted from me. Yeah. He would pass on these notes in the middle of the scene through someone else. It was very interesting. He didn’t come up and whisper to me. He got someone else to. I’ve never had that before. The messenger just comes…”

Messages appeared to have been loud and clear. Jennifer Coolidge nails the comedy in Riff Raff, which is playing in theaters now. Watch the trailer below.

Star Trek Completely Forgot About These 10 Alternate Timelines

0

Across its nearly 60-year history, Star Trek has created some of the most iconic and long-lasting stories ever seen on a screen. Indeed, part of what makes new Trek properties so iconic is that they are all linked in a unified Star Trek timeline, and thus each new movie or TV show only adds to the narrative started by Gene Roddenberry back in 1966. For the most part, all of these stories take place in the “Prime Timeline.” There are, however, other realities; Star Trek’s Mirror Universe and the Kelvin Timeline are the two most prominent alternate timelines.

The Mirror Universe, for example, has showed up in every era of Trek, from Star Trek: The Original Series to Star Trek: Discovery, and the three movies in the Kelvin Timeline arguably relaunched the franchise for the 21st century. The finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks, however, revealed that there are an infinite number of parallel realities alongside the Prime Timeline, and episodes from across the franchise have shown what some of those timelines look like. Unfortunately, for the most part, those alternate realities have been essentially ignored after their episodes wrapped up.

1

Enterprise: Shockwave Parts One and Two

The Federation Never Forms Because Captain Archer Isn’t There

Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) has honors unmatched by any other Starfleet captain, and he deserves them given he was responsible for the creation of the Federation. During the events of Star Trek: Enterprise, however, Captain Archer did not know that the Federation was in his future. “Shockwave” explored an alternate timeline where Captain Archer didn’t found the Federation, with the interesting twist that, due to Starfleet’s Temporal Prime Directive, he couldn’t know how the alternate timeline resulted from his actions. Unfortunately, this alternate timeline left Earth in ruins, making it somewhat uninteresting for Star Trek to revisit.

2

Enterprise: Storm Front Parts One And Two

Agents In The Temporal Cold War Helped The Nazis In World War Two

The Temporal Cold War plotline in Enterprise meant that Captain Archer encountered more alternate timelines than he had any right to expect when he set out to explore the galaxy. It seems obvious that the Temporal Cold War should end with yet another alternate timeline, this one intentionally created by the Na’kuhl, enemies of the Federation in the Temporal Cold War. The Na’kuhl first assassinated Lenin, then traded technology with the Nazis, leading to an invasion of North America when the Enterprise arrived.

Star Trek: Discovery revealed in its finale that Temporal Agent Daniels (Matt Winston) is still active as Doctor Kovich (David Cronenberg) long after helping Captain Archer.

Unfortunately, the two-episode arc “Storm Front” does not reveal what the effects of the interference were in other parts of the timeline. The USS Enterprise was stuck in the 1940s, so the later effects on the Federation were not shown. However, Star Trek has explored other alternate timelines where the Nazis won WWII, so we can guess. In fact, the Enterprise Mirror Universe episode, “In A Mirror, Darkly,” suggests in its theme song that a Nazi victory was a core event in the history of the Mirror Universe.

3

Strange New Worlds: A Quality of Mercy

The Neutral Zone Incursion Leads To Open War Between The Federation And The Romulans

Since its opening episode, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been haunted by the eventual fate of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount). The Original Series established decades ago that Captain Pike’s life ends in tragedy when his body is destroyed by Delta Radiation, and Strange New Worlds revealed that Captain Pike knew his future the whole time. It seems natural, then, that Strange New Worlds would include an episode where Captain Pike can see an alternate reality where he avoids his fate.

Unfortunately for Captain Pike, everything is much worse if he remains the captain of the Enterprise.

Unfortunately for Captain Pike, everything is much worse if he remains the captain of the Enterprise. In this alternate reality, Captain Pike handles the Romulan Neutral Zone Incursion, which Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) handled in The Original Series, leading to war between the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire. This version of reality is so dark that it is an older Captain Pike himself who travels through time to prevent this future. Given that this chain of events would destroy every other Star Trek property except Enterprise, it’s no wonder this chain of events was left in the past.

4

The Original Series: The City on the Edge of Forever

Unless One Innocent Woman Dies Young, The Nazis Conquer The World And The Federation Never Exists

Despite being the greatest episode in Star Trek, “The City on the Edge of Forever” features a reality that the franchise never revisited. After traveling back in time and falling in love with the 1930s pacifist Edith Keeler (Joan Collins), Captain Kirk realizes that unless she dies young, she’ll kick off a chain of events leading to a Nazi takeover of Earth. While this isn’t the only episode exploring a reality where the Nazis won, it is, perhaps, the most tragic. Even if none of the Star Trek shows doesn’t return to this reality, the episode remains deeply impactful.

5

The Next Generation: Yesterday’s Enterprise

The Enterprise-C Goes To The Future, Leading To War Between The Federation And The Klingon Empire

In some ways, Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise” is unique among Star Trek alternate reality episodes. For one thing, “Yesterday’s Enterprise” features none of the characters from the Prime Universe of TNG. Sure, Captain Jean Luc Picard (Patrick Steward) and Commander William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) are in the episode, but only as versions of themselves engaged in an all-out war with the Klingon Empire.

Star Trek: Section 31’s Only Starfleet Officer Doesn’t Know They’re Doomed

Star Trek: Section 31’s Lt. Rachel Garrett has no idea about the tragic fate that awaits her after she becomes captain of the USS Enterprise-C.

What makes this version of the universe so interesting is that it reveals that the stars of The Next Generation are fundamentally themselves regardless of what reality throws at them. Captain Picard will always strive for a better future for Starfleet, even if reality itself has warped around him such that Starfleet is almost unrecognizable. Despite how interesting this reality is, however, it collapsed back into nonexistence when the Enterprise-C went back to its own time.

6

Deep Space Nine: Past Tense Parts One And 2

The Bell Riots Have To Happen For The Federation To Exist, No Matter Who Gabriel Bell Actually Is

Although Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had some of the most iconic Mirror Universe episodes in all of Star Trek, DS9‘s two-part story of the Bell Riots in “Past Tense” reveals yet another alternate reality where, without the intervention of a Starfleet captain, the Federation will never have existed. What makes these episodes particularly interesting is the implication that the Prime Universe itself was changed by Captain Benjamin Sisko’s (Avery Brooks) actions.

The Bell Riots were supposed to take place last summer on August 30th, 2024.

At the start of “Past Tense,” the Bell Riots were spearheaded by Gabriel Bell; by the end of the second episode, the Federation archives show a picture of Captain Sisko in Gabriel Bell’s place. In other words, the entire history of Star Trek was overwritten by a version of events where Captain Sisko was a leader in the Bell Riots. As such, it wouldn’t make sense for Star Trek to revisit the alternate reality created in “Past Tense” explicitly, because all of Star Trek is now implicitly an alternate reality.

7

Voyager: Non Sequitur

Ensign Harry Kim Travels To A Reality Where He Isn’t Stationed On Voyager

For perpetual-Ensign Harry Kim (Garrett Wang), the alternate reality he encountered after a shuttle crash in Star Trek: Voyager’s “Non Sequitur” was arguably better than the Prime Universe. Ensign Kim traveled to a reality where he had never been assigned to Voyager and so had to actively choose to find a way back to Voyager instead of staying, safely, on Earth because it makes other people’s lives better. It’s not that dissimilar to the Prime Universe, but Ensign Kim’s brief trip to an alternate reality reveals the true depths of his character.

8

Voyager: Year Of Hell Parts One and Two

A Temporal Weapon Had The Ability To Create Theoretically Infinite Alternate Timelines

Voyager‘s two-parter “Year of Hell” is a plotline so iconic it could have been its own movie. In “Year of Hell,” Voyager has a series of encounters with the Krenim Imperium and their temporal weapon ship. The Krenim temporal weapon was capable of pushing things out of space-time (aka out of the Prime Universe), making it so they never existed. Since Voyager was able to shield itself from the temporal fluctuations, Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and the rest of the crew could see a wide variety of alternate realities, which collapsed when Captain Janeway destroyed the Krenim temporal weapon.

I’m Actually Glad Star Trek: Voyager Didn’t Make “Year Of Hell” Last An Entire Season

“Year of Hell” is one of Star Trek: Voyager’s most popular episodes, but there were plans to have the storyline last much longer than a two-parter.

Unlike the rest of the entries on this list, however, Star Trek left the door open for a return to some of those alternate realities. For one, the earlier episode “Before and After” involved Kes (Jennifer Lien) living through one alternate version of Voyager’s encounters with the Krenim Imperium. For another, “Year of Hell Part Two” ends with a Krenim engineer once again drafting plans for a temporal weapon. So, if Star Trek ever wants to, it is entirely possible for them to return to the alternate timelines of “Year of Hell.”

9

Voyager: Timeless

Only Harry Kim And Chakotay Survive Voyager, And They Set Out To Create A New Timeline

The entire ship of Ensigns Harry Kim in the finale of Lower Decks suggests that Ensign Kim might, in fact, have experienced more reality warping crossovers than any other being in the multiverse. Even the Prime Universe Harry Kim saw more than his fair share of alternate timelines on Voyager. In the season five episode “Timeless,” Harry Kim stared down alternate timeline madness once again, this time with Commander Chakotay (Robert Beltran) by his side. Unlike other accidental timeline crossovers, however, in Voyager‘s “Timeless” Harry Kim intentionally chose to rework time and create, from his perspective, an alternate timeline.

Harry Kim left Starfleet in “Timeless,” but it is not specified whether he was ever promoted beyond Ensign before he quit.

Like with Captain Sisko and the Bell Riots, however, the alternate timeline that Harry Kim and Chakotay created ended up becoming the Star Trek Prime Universe, and the unaltered progression of events seems like the alternate timeline. It is unclear whether it would even be possible to go back to this reality, since Harry Kim and Chakotay explicitly set out to destroy it.

10

Picard: Penance

Q Created A Dystopian Alternate Timeline

Since he was first introduced in The Next Generation, Q (John de Lancie) has had the ability to create alternate timelines on a whim. Combined with Q’s perennial fascination and friendship with first Captain, then Admiral, Picard, it is unsurprising that Q made an appearance in Star Trek: Picard. In “Penance,” Q created an alternate timeline to teach Picard a lesson. Although, in the end, Admiral Picard was able to restore the Prime Universe timeline, the nature of Q’s abilities mean that it is always possible that Star Trek could use Q to revisit this or any other alternate timeline.

Jennifer Hudson takes one in the face, courtside with Common

0

Jennifer Hudson very nearly got a basketball to the face — and did get a basketball player to the face — sitting courtside with Common at the Knicks-Warriors game Tuesday.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, her boyfriend pretty much hit her in the face, but only because he was trying to protect her.

(These are things that do not happen to people who sit in the cheap seats, which for this famous couple might be, like, Row 3.)

Miles McBride of the New York Knicks was going for a steal against the visiting Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden when things went all sorts of wrong in the game’s second period.

The action unfolded in an instant: McBride jumped into the path of a Warrior-to-Warrior pass. He tipped the ball. He did not take control of the ball. And he did not stop. At the receiving end of that 6-foot-1 momentum? It was JHud.

Fortunately it wasn’t, say, 7-foot Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns who went for the ball, or the world might have found itself missing one name on the EGOT list. Towns skipped the game for personal reasons, according to the New York Post.

Common tried to protect his lady, but in executing a volleyball-style move to knock the basketball away from her face, he appeared to whack her right in what NBA on TNT announcer Greg Anthony guessed were her “real expensive” eyeglasses. Hudson, who said a distinct “wow” in the immediate aftermath, did not look even one bit happy.

McBride politely checked in with both of them before he turned back to the game. In a flash, the collision was over.

“Protect Jennifer Hudson. Protect Jennifer Hudson,” announcer Ian Eagle intoned afterward. Then came the instant replay, during which they assessed whether Common had indeed protected the talk-show host.

“Common is making sure everybody’s OK,” Eagle said.

“Let me see what Common did — did he, did he protect her?” Anthony wondered.

“He tried. He actually banged the glasses,” Eagle said.

“No. No he didn’t [protect her],” Anthony said. “He doesn’t get points for that.”

In other celebrity courtside news, later in the game die-hard fan Spike Lee had a few things to tell Golden State’s Steph Curry right to his face after Curry got around McBride’s defense to sink a three-pointer for the lead.

Golden State beat New York, 114-102.

Travis Scott Says Doing WWE ‘Might Be Better’ Than Performing Live

0

Travis Scott is one of music’s most exciting live performers, but even he can’t deny the allure of stepping inside the squared circle.

The Houston rapper made headlines over the weekend when he reportedly ruptured Cody Rhodes’ eardrum and gave him a black eye during John Cena‘s Elimination Chamber heel turn. And he couldn’t contain himself when he ran into Triple H and The Rock backstage afterward.

When Triple H asks, “How fun’s that sh–?” An excited Scott answers, “Bro, this might be better than, low-key, performing. It was like a whole ‘nother vibe. Yo, it was so crazy because in the ring I was like, ‘We about to be straight bad guys.’” He then added, “I’m already hooked,” after Triple H told him to wait until he was in the ring actually wrestling and said he’s going to build rings in all his houses to practice and come back “100 pounds bigger.”

Cody seems to be doing fine as he appeared on Monday Night Raw a couple of days later.

During a press conference at the top of the year, Triple H told fans that they can expect to see Travis more often. “Everybody should expect to see more things from Travis Scott in a big way,” he said. Scott’s song “4×4” was then used as Monday Night Raw‘s theme music when the influential show moved from cable to Netflix, and he walked Jey Uso to the ring for his match against Drew McIntyre.

With Travis planning to actually wrestle, maybe we can get a match between him and Bad Bunny.

Here’s Why Garcelle Beauvais Is the Star of RHOBH

0

Fans of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills knew that something good was coming to the franchise when they first met Garcelle Beauvais. The actor joined the cast in 2020 during Season 10 and hasn’t looked back. The mother of three comes across as extremely level-headed, especially when all hell is breaking out around the other women. While I have always loved Garcelles as an addition, Season 10 proves that we need to protect the Bravoleb at all costs because she is perfect.

Garcelle Beauvais confronts Reba

For years, Sutton Stracke has been talking about the lack of love between her and her mother, Reba. But on a recent trip to Augusta, Garcelle wanted to make sure her friend’s worries didn’t fall on deaf ears. With permission from Sutton, the Coming to America actor took it upon herself to have a serious conversation with Reba. And even though she wasn’t well received she still tried her best to take care of her friend. I appreciate Garcelle’s intentions and genuinely believe she came from a good place. But Reba was never gonna be receptive to her message.

While on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Garcelle admitted she was taken aback by Reba’s response. “I was surprised by her candor,” Garcelle admitted “Sutton had warned me, but I thought I came very soft, saying, ‘I love your daughter, we’re such good friends.’ But she’s like, ‘That is none of your business.’” What made Garcelle a star in that moment was when she praised Reba for just being herself. The RHOBH star noted, “But I really enjoyed Reba because she stayed true to who she is no matter what, whether we were being nice, it didn’t matter.”

Garcelle Beauvais is coming for Bozoma Saint John

In the July 4th-themed episode, Garcelle had enough of Bozoma Saint John being “Dorit’s spokesperson” and told her so. The comments were a breath of fresh air since the newbie has been riding extremely hard for Dorit Kemsley. While Sutton most definitely overreacted and should have just left the party, Boz jumped in without knowing the full history behind the argument. Again, while on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Boz doubled down. She told fans, “You’re in Dorit’s house, and she’s over there, and everybody’s over here with Sutton, who’s trying to leave.”

She added, “If she’s trying to leave, let her go. I don’t understand why we’re sitting around trying to convince her to stay. She don’t wanna stay.” However, Garcelle was doing what any good friend would do in that situation and comforting her genuine friend. Last season, Sutton was attacked for her drinking, and it was clearly a sore subject. Dorit knew that and made an ill-timed joke. I appreciate how Garcelle isn’t just letting the newbie slide by. I would like to see Garcelle eventually bond with Boz as I think both are the truth seekers in the group.

Garcelle Beauvais is the friend RHOBH needs

No matter what you say about Garcelle, one thing is clear. She is a great friend to have in your corner. Garcelle is the type of companion who will call you out on your sh*t but also be the first one at your door with food when you’re sick. However, some cast members like Boz and Erika Jayne feel she is hypocritical when defending Sutton. But I would argue that Garcelle is just pointing out a significant injustice. More than once, Sutton has been the punching bag for Erika and Dorit.

Erika had no time for Sutton, who often questioned her divorce from Tom Girardi. They were filmed arguing with Erika more often than that, bringing Sutton to tears. Dorit has also picked on Sutton. And even Crystal Kung Minkoff got a swing in there when she claimed she felt “violated.” Now, Garcelle has always defended Sutton, but perhaps it was because Sutton was incapable of defending herself. And no good person allows David to keep getting pushed down by Goliath. Garcelle has taken the center spot on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and, in my opinion, is the star of the show. I’m going to need to see her sitting to the left of Andy Cohen on the reunion couch, that’s for sure.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock.

TELL US – DO YOU THINK GARCELLE IS BEING A GOOD FRIEND? IS SHE A STAR IN YOUR BOOK?

When Does ‘Unforgotten’ Season 6 Premiere in the U.S.? Cast, Plot, Trailer, Updates

0

Being a fan of a British series that airs in the U.S. means growing accustomed to delayed premiere dates. Such is the case for fans of ITV’s Unforgotten, which airs on PBS Masterpiece here. The detective drama debuted its sixth season in the U.K. in February — and was renewed for Season 7 right after its February 24 finale! When does Unforgotten Season 6 come out in the U.S.? And what’s to come in the new installment? We answer all of those questions here.

What is Unforgotten about?

Unforgotten is an award-winning cold case crime drama following veteran London detectives who uncover the truth behind tangled, complicated murders from the past. But the deeper the truth lies, the bigger the emotional toll for the suspects, the families left behind, and for the detective inspectors themselves. Each season begins with the discovery of human remains, and the mystery unfolds from there. Interpersonal relationships among the detectives also provide dramatic intrigue, and Season 5 marked the story’s biggest change yet.

Unforgotten has won a BAFTA and a Broadcasting Press Guild Award in the U.K., and it’s one of the handful of Masterpiece shows that’s not based on a popular book series.

Who is in the Unforgotten Season 6 cast?

PBS Masterpiece

Unforgotten stars Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunny Khan, Sinéad Keenan as DCI Jessica Jones, Nicola Walker as DCI Cassie Stuart, Jordan Long as DS Murray Boulting, Carolina Main as DC Fran Lingley, Georgia Mackenzie as pathologist Dr. Leanne Balcombe, Pippa Nixon as DC Kaz Willets, and Michelle Bonnard as Sunny’s romantic partner, Sal. MyAnna Buring joined the Season 6 cast as a right-wing reporter named Melinda Ricci. Peaky Blinders‘ Emmett Scanlan joined as Patrick, Melinda’s fiancé.

More new faces in Season 6 are Maximilian Fairley as Martin “Marty” Baines, Elham Ehsas as Asif Syed, Cobra’s Victoria Hamilton as Juliet Cooper, Pixie Davies as Taylor Cooper, and Damien Molony as Father Luke Ryan.

Walker joined the cast in Season 5 to replace the void left by the shocking death of Keenan’s Cassie in Season 4. The fifth season began nine months after her death and showed the growing pains among the staff with their new boss, Jessica.

When does Unforgotten Season 6 premiere in the U.S.?

Season 6 premiered on ITV in the U.K. on February 9. Its sixth and final episode of the season aired on February 24. The season was available in full on ITV’s streaming service, ITVX, upon the premiere.

As of the time of publication, there is no official U.S. premiere date for Unforgotten Season 6, but it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2025. Season 5 aired in February 2023 in the U.K. and September 2023 in the U.S. Season 4’s U.K. debut was in February 2021 but July 2021 in the U.S., so it doesn’t always follow the February through September format.

Season 6 will show the “continuation” of Sunny and Jess’ relationship. “For me, it’s a continuation of their relationship that started in season 5,” Bhaskar told Radio Times. “For me, by the end of Season 5, they have that one scene where they kind of open up to each other. That was a really vital moment in their relationship.”

“There’s an element of trust in their working relationship now,” he continued. “Jess doesn’t think that Sunny’s a threat; he doesn’t think that she’s a threat to the way he works and everything. In terms of their personal lives, I don’t think they know each other that well yet. So, they do hold back on that, as you would with coworkers.”

They’ll be trying to solve the murder of a woman named Whitney Marsh. Their department usually handles cold cases, but they soon learn that Whitney’s remains are recent and her body was already dismembered before the remains were left in a marsh.

Will there be an Unforgotten Season 7?

Yes! The series was renewed for Season 7 on February 25. Stars Bhaskar and Keenan helped announce the renewal in an Instagram video showing them holding a Season 7 script (see above).

Stay tuned here as we continue to report the latest updates on this beloved series.

The collection features flowy floral dresses, relaxed jumpsuits, and breezy tops in soft pastels and deep florals. There are also more structured outfits, like a rust-colored suit and a cropped suede jacket, that add more dressy elements.

Lace, ruffles, and crochet details give the clothes a vintage-inspired touch. Wide-leg pants and jeans also round out the wardrobe. Accessories like gold chain belts, chunky bracelets, and small statement bags complete each look.

Strappy sandals and simple jewelry keep the outfits feeling effortless and modern. The color palette blends soft pastels like pale blue and cream with earthy tones such as rust and deep green.

Trump hates the Biden-era Chips Act. What’s next for semiconductor makers?

Published:

President Trump made no bones about his distaste for the U.S. Chips Act during his congressional address Tuesday night — raising questions in the semiconductor industry about the future of the program and the role some U.S. companies will play going forward.

Trump also

touted a recent agreement with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. TSM TW:2330 in which the world’s largest chip-manufacturing company promised to invest $100 billion into building more factories in the U.S., in addition to $65 billion already planned. The latest agreement was not through any funding from the Chips Act, which funded $6.6 billion toward TSMC’s Arizona plants last November.
