Time to buy Nvidia shares before fresh all-time highs?

0

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) shares have taken quite the nosedive. A 17% drop in a single day grabbed most of the headlines, but the stock has been down 22% at its lowest, after kicked off 2025 at an all-time high. The $116 share price was one some talking heads said we’d never see again. Is it time to buy the dip before new all-time highs? Or could this one have further to crash?

AI dominance

To understand the appeal of Nvidia shares, it’s worth taking a moment to assess just how dependent large language models (LLMs) are on its chips.

When ChatGPT launched, Nvidia made the best GPUs for it. It had a head start. And that resulted in 90% or so of the chips used being from Nvidia.

But ChatGPT debuted, if you can believe it, nearly two and a half years ago. Tonnes of rival LLMs have hit the market, like Claude, Grok, and Gemini. Surely Nvidia’s competitors have had a chance to catch up?

Well, not really. The percentage of Nvidia’s chips is thought to still be around 85%. Nvidia is halfway down the track while its competitors haven’t even finished tying their shoelaces.

It’s the kind of seemingly unassailable lead that easily explains why Nvidia shares have multiplied 11 times in value since LLMs burst onto the scene. AMD shares haven’t even doubled. Intel shares are down 38%. Crikey.

Why did the stock drop?

So what’s this drop about, then? A 22% fall is nothing to sniff at. Is it a sign that Nvidia’s dominance has an end in sight?

Well, the basic story is that a Chinese startup named Deepseek made an LLM for a fraction of the cost of all the others. The relevant point to Nvidia is that it doesn’t need as many chips, which could make a long-term dent in sales.

The counterargument goes that this has kicked the door wide open to widespread adoption of AI. We might see custom models running on the smartphones we all have in our pocket.

If that’s the case, then Nvidia could come out on top again. After all, their chips are still the best in class. The hubbub around Deepseek could end up increasing sales.

My opinion

Personally, I don’t think the investment case has been harmed much in the last week. An investor lacking exposure to the benefits of AI may want to consider buying in at the discounted price.

What is informing my decision is the valuations – currently a price-to-earnings ratio of 48 with a forward P/E ratio of 30. Those aren’t cheap, though they aren’t astronomical either for a company with such good growth prospects.

The issue is that earnings have been elevated thanks to the AI gold rush. It is rumoured that most of the sales come from four or five megacap tech firms. Combined with my exposure in other areas, that seems like too much risk for me.

Trump administration stops nationwide EV charging program

0

The Trump administration has ordered states to stop a program to build fast EV chargers on highways throughout the country, released by the Federal Highway Administration. The letter informs state transportation directors, who are in charge of instituting the program, that any plans approved by the Biden administration are now suspended “until new guidance is issued.”

The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program was approved by Congress as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. It was intended to fill gaps in America’s EV charging network and was supported by $5 billion in grants. President Trump has long decried the program and regularly during the 2024 campaign.

To view this content, you’ll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the “Content and social-media partners” setting to do so.

To that end, Trump would often suggest that the Biden administration spent $9 billion to build eight EV charging stations. Sometimes he would . In reality, 55 charging stations have been built so far, . Just over $2 billion has been allocated to states, and much of it hasn’t been spent yet.

The mandate, as outlined in the new memo, will fulfill the financial obligations of NEVI, so long as a state already has a finalized contract with a charging company. Any unfinished contracts will likely be put on indefinite hold.

Can an organization like the FHA unilaterally put the kibosh on a program that was approved by Congress? The legality here is unclear, but Loren McDonald, chief analyst at the , said “I don’t believe FHWA has the authority to do this.”

Ryan Gallentine, managing director at the national business association Advanced Energy United, said that states “are under no obligation to stop these projects based solely on this announcement.” He went on to call on state leaders “to continue executing this program until new guidance is finalized.”

This move is also expected to be challenged in court. “I’m assuming the lawsuits from states will start soon, and this will go to court and Congress,” McDonald said. “But the Trump administration will succeed in just causing havoc and slowing things down for a while.”

Trump has been since his first day in office. He issued an executive order that to transition half of the country’s vehicles to EVs by 2030. It’s expected that he will soon for electric vehicles.

But won’t this hurt Trump’s bestie Elon Musk? Tesla, after all, was one of the largest recipients of those NEVI grants. It’s worth remembering that this mandate doesn’t rollback any contracts that have already been finalized. In other words, Musk is probably perfectly happy with the from the government. He has also long-approved of the proposed elimination of the federal tax credit, likely because it much more than Tesla.

Did the Menendez Brothers Know the Kardashians? Find Out – Hollywood Life

0

As Lyle and Erik Menendez‘s case gained nationwide attention last year, Kim Kardashian took it upon herself to visit the brothers in prison as they serve their life sentence for the fatal 1989 shootings of their parents, José and Kitty Menendez. But a 2025 episode of The Kardashians has viewers talking about the family’s long-time connection to the Menendez brothers. So, did the Kardashian-Jenner family know the brothers before their crimes?

Find out everything we know about how long the Kardashians have known the Menendez brothers.

Are the Menendez Brothers Getting Released From Prison?

It’s unclear if Lyle and Erik will be released from prison anytime soon. They presented new evidence last year, and a resentencing hearing was scheduled to take place toward the end of 2024. However, that hearing was delayed to January 30, 2025, in order to give the new Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, time to review the case.

Do the Menendez Brothers Know the Kardashians?

Before Kim visited the Menendez brothers in 2024, alongside actor Cooper Koch, Kris apparently knew both siblings in the 1980s. During an episode of The Kardashians that aired in early 2025, the family matriarch claimed she became acquainted with Lyle and Erik “in the ’80s.”

“You know, I knew those guys in the ’80s,” Kris told Kim before Kourtney Kardashian asked, “You knew the parents?” Kris then replied, “No. I knew the kids because Erik used to come over and play tennis with your dad on the weekends,” referring to the late Robert Kardashian Sr.

During a confessional, Kim pointed out being around 13 years old when Erik and Lyle’s trial took place in the 1990s.

“Now being older and seeing it from a different lens, 35 years later and knowing what I know now about the system, I just have a whole different outlook on it,” Kim said about Lyle and Erik’s case.

Did the Menendez Brothers Know O.J. Simpson?

According to The Menendez Murders author Robert Rand, O.J. Simpson was temporarily held in a jail cell next to Erik’s at one point, per The Hollywood Reporter

“I remember Erik telling me that O.J. was just super friendly with all the deputies, and all the deputies you know, like, came around with signed pictures,” Rand previously told THR. “They were used to having celebrities of O.J.’s level in their custody. So, Erik was calling me like every night giving me updates, ‘This happened today or that happened today.’ But I had the impression that O.J. really appreciated the friendship and advice from Erik.”

In his book, Rand claimed that Lyle also spoke with O.J. and gave him advice about a defense team.

“O.J. and Lyle Menendez spent many hours in the jail’s attorney room while waiting for their attorneys or material witnesses,” Rand wrote in one excerpt. “For 100 hours of contact between the two inmates, the two high-profile prisoners talked openly and exchanged dozens of letters. Lyle advised O.J. he should consider taking a plea deal and O.J. briefly considered that option — according to Lyle — but later told Menendez he couldn’t do that because it would ruin his reputation and he would never work again.”

The best dates to book your last-minute February half-term holiday | Travel News | Travel

0

With February in full-swing and half-term fast approaching, many families are looking to book last-minute getaways without putting a strain on their wallets.

If you’re still on the hunt for a sweet deal, you might be in luck as the biggest discounts are not out yet, as according to travel experts, there’s still a sweet spot to secure affordable flights for those perfect family holidays.

Oliver Brendon, CEO of AttractionTickets.com, advised that booking flights within a specific time window can offer some of the most competitive prices for international travel.

He said: “Contrary to what many travellers believe, industry data suggests that booking flights within a window of eight to 23 days before departure can offer some of the most competitive prices for international travel, especially when it comes to places like Florida.”

Booking within this period can result in huge savings, and there’s even a specific time of the week that’s better for booking.

Brendon continued: “We also know through historical external data that travellers can sometimes save up to 24 percent on flights if they book them on a Sunday, particularly within this eight to 23-day window.”

According to Brendon, the prime days to finalise those last-minute plans for February half-term are Sunday, February 9th, or Sunday, February 16th.

These dates fall perfectly within that eight to 23-day window, making them optimal for finding more affordable family holiday bookings ahead of half-term, Brendon explained.

And while it may seem like a last-minute rush, Sundays are statistically the best days to book flights for discounts.

You’ll be able to take advantage of the sweet spot for savings, all while skipping the stress of last-minute price hikes.

For those already thinking about Easter holidays, Brendon has some advice to save some money while booking last-minute Easter trips too.

“In my experience, prices for Easter tend to rise sharply in the two weeks before, so you can avoid this by making sure you book ahead of 25th March,” said Brendon.

“Remember, it’s a risk to book things last minute, so opt for using ticketing sites with fixed pricing models like ours and always do your research to get the best deals.”

Whether you’re eyeing a winter escape for February half-term or planning ahead for Easter, securing the best deal often comes down to the timing of your booking.

With a little research and strategic timing, you can score a great deal and create lasting memories without breaking the bank on your next getaway.

Marvel Rumored To Be Eyeing Denzel Washington for ‘X-Men’ Villain Magneto

0

With the X-Men set to make their long-awaited debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the rumor mill is firing up with various casting scoops. Just this week, a rumor circulated online about a trio of names being eyed for leading roles, but that’s been overshadowed by a much more seismic rumor: Marvel is said to be interested in casting the Denzel Washington as a major villain in the upcoming X-Men reboot.

As with the previous casting rumor, the latest originated with Jeff Sneider. On a new episode of The Hot Mic podcast (via /Film), Sneider discussed Denzel Washington’s role in the upcoming Black Panther 3. While he stopped short of putting it in plain terms, Sneider ultimately said he thinks Washington “could be the villain of X-Men,” clearly alluding to Magneto, the mutant arch-nemesis previously played by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender. While Sneider has a decent track record with scoops, he’s not always right, so you should definitely take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Denzel Washington’s Heist Thriller Is Perfect for ‘Den of Thieves’ Fans

‘Inside Man’ might be nearly 20 years old, but it’s another captivating story about a bank robber and his police counterpart.

That said… Wouldn’t it be f**king incredible if Marvel cast Denzel Washington as Magneto in the MCU?! Washington has more charisma in his pinky finger than 10 Glen Powells combined, especially when you get Washington in antagonist mode. See also: his recent performance in Gladiator II as bisexual gangster supreme Macrinus, a former enslaved fighter who uses his freedom to run his own ring of gladiators. Washington stole every scene in Ridley Scott’s ridiculous epic (complimentary), and reminded us just how much fun it is to watch him chew some damn scenery.

Washington is the latest name floated for the X-Men reboot following Sneider’s prior report that Marvel is eyeing Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, The Fabelmans star Julia Butters, and Babygirl‘s own Harris Dickinson for the roles of Jean Grey (of course), Kitty Pryde, and Scott Summers / Cyclops, respectively.

Wait, Wouldn’t That Mean Denzel Washington Is Playing an X-Men Villain in ‘Black Panther 3’?

During the press rounds for Gladiator II, Denzel Washington spilled the beans on his own casting in Black Panther 3, prompting the actor to call director Ryan Coogler and apologize for breaking the news. Marvel has yet to officially confirm Washington’s casting in the Black Panther sequel, which will likely hit theaters sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars. That film is currently scheduled for May 7, 2027, which would put Black Panther 3 on the docket for sometime in late 2027 or even 2028.

We also don’t know who Washington might be playing in Black Panther 3. While promoting the Feb. 14 release of Captain America: Brave New World, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore has been offering updates on various upcoming projects, including the Black Panther sequel. Moore didn’t confirm Washington’s casting, but in a new interview he did say that if Washington winds up in Black Panther 3, he’ll “probably be somebody from canon.” But which canon? Marvel canon? Black Panther canon?

Moore didn’t specify, which still leaves the door open for Washington to play Magneto. The kingdom of Wakanda is a rich resource of the most powerful metal in the world, Vibranium, which Wakandans combine with steel to make Adamantium – the same metal injected into Wolverine’s skeleton. It seems mighty plausible that Magneto, a mega-powerful mutant with the ability to control metal, would wind up in or around Wakanda. That feels like a pretty organic way to bring Magneto into the MCU. After all, precious metals are still a going concern in the MCU, with Adamantium set to make its debut in Captain America: Brave New World. In a separate interview with Screen Rant, director Julius Onah confirmed that Adamantium’s introduction in Brave New World is laying the groundwork for Project X.

Not to sound like Charlie on his Pepe Silvia kick in It’s Always Sunny, but when you really think about it, Denzel Washington playing Magneto just makes sense. And until Marvel says otherwise, I’ll continue wishing it into existence.

Sigourney Weaver Reveals First Details About Her New Star Wars Character, Hinting At The Mandalorian & Grogu’s Plot

0

Sigourney Weaver has revealed first details about her character in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and she’s given the first hints about the upcoming Star Wars movie‘s plot. Set to release on May 22, 2026, The Mandalorian and Grogu will lead the way back to the big screen for Star Wars; it’s the first movie in the franchise since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. We know that Sigourney Weaver is finally heading to the galaxy far, far away, but her role is a mystery.

Speaking to Games Radar while promoting her upcoming movie The Gorge, Weaver has confirmed that her character – rumored to be a New Republic leader called Colonel Bishop – will be responsible for Din Djarin’s mission.I play a wonderful character who is, you know, in a position of authority,” she revealed. “And I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens. No doubt more will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration this year.

Sigourney Weaver’s Character Likely Runs Adelphi Base

It’s A Logical Role, Albeit A Surprising One

It’s pretty easy to join the dots from Weaver’s comment, given The Mandalorian season 3’s ending. This saw Din Djarin strike a new deal with the New Republic’s Carson Teva (played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee). He offered to work exclusively for the New Republic, helping them round up former Imperials. It’s reasonable to assume Weaver’s mysterious character is in charge of the military base on Adelphi, where Teva is stationed. She’ll likely send Din Djarin on a mission to find an Imperial.

Many had speculated that Weaver was actually playing an Imperial herself, with some suggesting she could be the canon version of a ruthless warlord named Ysanne Isard from the old Star Wars Expanded Universe. This now seems unlikely, and it’s intriguing to speculate who the real villain of The Mandalorian and Grogu really is. Din Djarin is hunting Imperials at a time when the Imperial Remnant has been unified by Grand Admiral Thrawn, meaning he’s on the front lines of a conflict he doesn’t even know is happening.

Our Take On The Mandalorian And Grogu

The Story Is Still A Mystery

Written and directed by Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian and Grogu remains surprisingly secretive. It’s reminiscent of the build-up to The Mandalorian season 1 itself, where Lucasfilm somehow managed to conceal Grogu’s very existence – meaning “Baby Yoda” was a surprise. That pattern is clearly continuing, even if some of the details can be deduced from Weaver’s comments. It’s going to be exciting to get some solid information at Star Wars Celebration this year.

Prince documentary at Netflix canceled in win for singer’s estate

0

Netflix will no longer release a nine-hour documentary about music icon Prince after years of development. The late singer’s estate will develop its own film.

The completed documentary was directed by Oscar winner Ezra Edelman, best known for “O.J.: Made in America.” Edelman was granted unprecedented access to Prince’s archives, dubbed “the vault” by his estate. The documentary, seen by only a handful of people, was reported by the New York Times Magazine to contain testimonies from the musician’s former girlfriends and others alleging physical and emotional abuse.

“The Prince Estate and Netflix have come to a mutual agreement that will allow the estate to develop and produce a new documentary featuring exclusive content from Prince’s archive,” Netflix and the estate said in a joint statement to The Times on Friday. “As a result, the Netflix documentary will not be released.”

Representatives for Edelman did not immediately return The Times’ requests for comment.

On X, the estate also posted a video celebrating that the “vault” had been “freed.” “Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people,” the video’s on-screen text reads. “The truth is, you are either here to enlighten or discourage.”

The documentary was said to include interviews with people close to Prince beyond his former girlfriends, including bandmates, sound engineers, assistants, bodyguards, managers, childhood friends, record-company executives and one of his sisters, per the New York Times Magazine.

Variety reported in July 2024 that after more than four years of development, the estate and the streamer were clashing over the estate’s claim that the documentary “sensationalized” versions of the singer’s life events. The estate also alleged there were “ ‘dramatic’ factual inaccuracies.”

The “Purple Rain” singer, who died from a fentanyl overdose in 2016, did not have a will. His estate was said to be valued at about $300 million at the time of his death.

Determining the heirs of his estate and how his fortune would be distributed and managed has turned into a long and complex legal saga. In 2022, the estate changed administration to some of his heirs, associates and the music publisher Primary Wave.

Around the time of this change is said to be when the estate starting pushing back against Edelman’s access to “the vault” and the creative direction of the doc.

Additional information on the estate’s plans to develop a separate documentary project were not immediately available.

Rihanna Asked Jessel Taank for Makeup Artist Link

0

Season 15 of The Real Housewives of New York was rough. Brynn Whitfield repeatedly insulted Jessel Taank. She even spread a rumor that Jessel’s ex-boyfriend, not her husband Pavit Randhawa, was the love of her life. However, on the bright side, singer and fashion designer Rihanna was in Jessel’s DM’s … again.

Rihanna asked Jessel Taank about her makeup artist

Rihanna is a Bravo superfan and is partial to several of the Real Housewives franchises. When Jessel was a guest on SiriusXM’s It’s Me, Tinx podcast, she shared more information about Ri-Ri. “Last time you were on, you mentioned that Rihanna DMed you. Have you heard from her or any celebrity since?” Tinx asked.

“Babe you’re going to die,” Jessel said. “So that whole conversation about my glam and how I get glam, Rihanna literally DMed me the day after and she was like, ‘I live for your glam, can you introduce me to your makeup artist?’”

Tinx was surprised. “Shut up. Oh my God. I bet your makeup artist is obsessed with you,” Tinx said.

Then Jessel continued. “Um, so I was like, ‘A hundred percent yes. Like you would love her. Grace is incredible.’ By the way, my facelift look, like it’s, I think 70% of it is my makeup,” she said. “I changed my makeup.”

Tinx agreed with Jessel’s comment about her new make-up. “Oh, it makes all the difference. So anyway, I introduced Grace to Rihanna,” Jessel said. “She went to her apartment and glammed her up twice actually. So, um, yeah, you’re welcome, Rihanna.”

Meanwhile, as far as RHONY, Jessel confirmed that her friendship with Brynn is “definitely broken.” While Jessel originally signed on because of the reboot’s diversity, she may be questioning her decision after this season’s difficult subject matter.

This season has underwhelmed viewers, yet Jessel remains one of the fan favorites on RHONY. Hopefully, we will see her back next season. And if Rihanna happens to pop by for a visit, all the better!

Real Housewives of New York is streaming on Peacock.
