UFC CEO, Dana White, sent lightweight contender, Arman Tsarukyan, “back to the drawing board” after withdrawing from the UFC 311 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last weekend in Los Angeles. I guess “Ahalkalakets” used his chalk to sketch out a title eliminator against former 155-pound champion, Charles Oliveira.
“The number one contender has a name, and it’s Arman Tsarukyan,” the No. 1-ranked contender wrote on Instagram. “If anyone wants to be the number one contender, they need to fight me — I’m ready and open. Don’t be afraid to say my name. I promise, I won’t hit too hard.”
Unimpressed MMA fans creamed Tsarukyan for his callout.
This isn’t the first time “Ahalkalakets” challenged “Do Bronx,” having previously poked the Brazilian on Twitter. That prompted a reply from fellow lightweight contender Michael Chandler, who did some calling out of his own over the last few days.
“You don’t show up, you don’t get a shot,” Chandler said. “Beat me, if you can.”
“I’m not against it, but fighting someone who beat you twice sounds way more compelling,” Tsarukyan replied.
Charlie Olives seems more interested in this “BMF” bout.
No word yet on when matchmakers are planning to sort through some of the lightweight clutter, but it’s a relief to hear that Tsarukyan has quickly (some might say suspiciously) recovered from his debilitating back injury.
