Conor McGregor files appeal in sexual assault civil suit

Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor lost his highly-publicized sexual assault civil suit late last year and was assigned monetary damages by the jury assigned to Dublin’s High Court. “Notorious” vowed to appeal the decision and blasted the “kangaroo court” for choosing feelings over facts.

As expected, McGregor filed his appeal last Friday in Ireland, according to BBC News.

McGregor managed to avoid criminal charges when the sexual assault case was first brought to authorities, prompting the plaintiff to file a multimillion-dollar lawsuit in early 2021, which also named accomplice James Lawrence.

The jury exonerated Lawrence, but not McGregor.

“Notorious” was ordered to pay a significant portion of the court costs immediately following the verdict, with the remaining balance to be determined after his appeal. No word yet on when McGregor and his attorneys will return to court.

The embattled MMA star is penciled in for a UFC return in late 2025.
