Love Is Blind Season 8’s Experts Made The Worst Casting Choices (There’s Alleged Scandal Involving The Production Team Too)

Love Is Blind season 8 has been boring and downright exhausting, partly due to the casting choices and an overall group of unlikable contestants. Since its premiere in 2020, Love Is Blind has always had at least a few outlandish personalities—like Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee from season 2 or Matthew Duliba from season 6—who kept things interesting. However, this season’s cast members are making the show difficult to watch. It has been fascinating to see the red flags overlooked since the Love Is Blind season 8 premiere.

The couples spent the first six episodes in the pods, and only five pairs got engaged. There was hope the season would pick up after the proposal; hover, it didn’t. Episodes 7-9 delved into the drama between Daniel Hasting and Taylor Haag’s resolving the earlier cliffhanger while unearthing TikTok rumors about Ben Mezzenga that hurt his relationship with Sara Carton. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With so much chaos and so little chemistry, Love Is Blind season 8 proves the casting department failed to get the right people on the show.

Daniel Hastings May Have Seen Taylor Haag Before Filming The Show

He Might Have Known What She Looked Like

One of the biggest controversies surrounding Love Is Blind season 8 is Daniel and Taylor’s Instagram drama. During their interactions in the pods, Taylor asked Daniel if he’d followed her on Instagram, an accusation he vehemently denied. Their bond strengthened with Daniel’s proposal, and then the couple met for the first time. In a confessional after the meetup, Taylor said she was sure he’d followed and unfollowed her on the social media platform (via Loveisblindnetflix).

“When the doors first opened, and I saw Daniel, I thought he’s so familiar to me but I couldn’t place it. Is he familiar because I’ve have pictured his face through a wall 15 million times?”

Taylor continued to share that when the doors opened, that wasn’t the first time Daniel saw her, adding:

“A couple of months ago I remember getting a follower request, and I’m fairly positive that Daniel followed me on Instagram not long before coming to the show.”

In episode 7, Daniel denied following Taylor on Instagram. A producer gave the Love Is Blind star her phone to check her follower’s list, but Daniel wasn’t in it. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Taylor said she remembered seeing some mutual friends on Daniel’s profile.

Taylor was still convinced she had seen his Instagram page. She admitted to using an app called Followers which checks a list of people who had followed her in the past just to be sure but never found his name. If Daniel ever followed Taylor, he would have cheated the Love Is Blind experiment and violated the rules, making their entire relationship seem inauthentic.

Producers Are Being Called Out

Love Is Blind Season 8 Lacked Diversity

The Love Is Blind producers faced criticism over the lack of diversity on the show. While the initial Love Is Blind season 8 cast was diverse, only three were shown in the pods, and no other races apart from the white cast members. While Minneapolis isn’t as diverse as other parts of the U.S., they have diversity.

According to the Minneapolis database, the population of other races includes blacks at 18.4%, Asians at 5.15 and 5% multiracial people. Love Is Blind creator and executive producer Chris Coleen addressed the criticism on Entertainment Weekly. He stated it was hard to tell the story of 32 contestants and that white cast members happened to be the group who find their soulmates while the rest didn’t.

The Season Isn’t Sizzling

Love Is Blind Season 8 Is Painfully Boring

Love Is Blind season 8 is by far the most boring season ever. From long pod sessions that weren’t so interesting—especially with Madison Errichiello and her connections, Alex Brown and Mason Horacek took so much time despite leaving the pods unengaged. Every Love Is Blind season 8 participant seemed like a villain.

From Dave’s interest in knowing everyone’s sex life to Madison leading on Mason and breaking up with him in the worst way possible, ruining his connection with Meg Fink, it was just a lot of nothing. While this isn’t necessarily the end of the Love Is Blind glory days, the poor casting choice could have had a huge impact this season. Hopefully, season 9 will redeem the show.

Love Is Blind season 8, episodes 10-12 drop on Friday, February 28 on Netflix.
