Denied! Magomed Ankalaev shuts down Carlos Ulberg title shot, books ‘Black Jag’ against UFC’s ‘Fake Ninja’

Carlos Ulberg captured his eighth straight victory by outpointing Jan Blachowicz in the UFC London co-main event last weekend across the pound, cementing himself a legitimate 205-pound title contender while simultaneously washing the 205-pound division.

“Black Jag” wants a title shot anyway.

“Eight-fight win streak, the longest win streak in the light heavyweight division, I’m definitely looking at a light heavyweight title contention,” Ulberg said during the UFC London post-fight press conference. “If you look at the current champion and the former champion, their last fight with Jan Blachowicz was a very close fight, as well. I beat him with a unanimous decision, so it’s a very good feat for me.”

Not good enough for current champion, Magomed Ankalaev.

“Congratulation Carlos,” Ankalaev wrote on Twitter. “Good win for Carlos but Alex [Pereira] is next. He deserves it more than anyone. Alex different level than all these guys. Carlos vs. fake ninja.”

Ankalaev, who defeated Pereira for the light heavyweight title atop the UFC 313 fight card earlier this month in Las Vegas, was referring to fraudulent former champion, Jiri Prochazka.

“Yeah for sure, I’ll get anyone,” Ulberg (12-1) said about the possibility of fighting Prochazka. “But where is he placed at the moment? I’m looking to go forward for sure, and I’m definitely looking at the title shot in the near future.”

Ulberg, 34, is currently ranked four spots below Prochazka at No. 6; however, that position is likely to change after this week’s official rankings update.
