Former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero proved age is just a number last night (Sat., Mar. 22, 2025) at Dirty Boxing Championship 1 LIVE and FREE on Kick and YouTube from inside The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami, Fla., as the 47-year-old stopped towering heavyweight Ras Hylton with a third-round knockout (punch).
This matchup seemed odd on paper, but looked even sillier inside the ring. Hylton was significantly bigger than Romero and possessed a 10-inch reach advantage over “Soldier of God.” For that fact and that fact alone it took Romero longer than expected to get inside on the 6’6” heavyweight and land something of significance. At no point did Hylton threaten Romero with anything in response.
Romero was able to do some work to the body in the third round. A slashing right across the stomach forced Hylton to drop his hands just for a second. That allowed Romero a chance to quickly close the distance and land a perfectly-placed right hand up top followed by a short left hook. Hylton went crashing to the canvas as the referee dove in for the stoppage and “Soldier of God” walked off.
Check out the video highlights below:
Romero, who turns 48 next month, now has two wins under the Dirty Boxing Championship banner. Remember, he closed out the promotion’s pilot card late last year with a vicious knockout finish. The same result played out on Saturday night and will continue to do so as long as Romero is matched up against washed up tomato cans.
