Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Jiri Prochazka caught a stray in the UFC 313 aftermath.
The former Light Heavyweight kingpin was certainly an interested observer of the five-round main event title fight between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev, which saw “Big Ank” defeat the popular knockout artist via unanimous decision. “BJP” congratulated the champion on social media and called for a third match versus Pereira, who is currently 2-0 over the Czech athlete.
Strangely, Ankalaev didn’t appreciate the praise. Instead, he attacked Prochazka by labeling him a fraud and demanding he win more fights before getting another title shot … which isn’t even what Prochazka asked for in the first place!
Prochazka didn’t appreciate the insult and fired back on Monday. Per Prochazka, Ankalaev has been very friendly when the two met in person prior to this trash talk (sounds like a bad case of Ali Abdelaziz). He also knocked Ankalaev’s fighting style, promising to demonstrate the difference when the two meet in the cage.
“His mouth, and what he’s saying… I don’t like it.” Jiri Prochazka said on The Ariel Helwani Show (via Josh Evanoff). “I like all the people except him. But, he’s too much, his last tweet on me. I don’t know [why he’s talking about me], he doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know me personally.”
He continued, “One thing I can say to Magomed Ankalaev: He can say whatever he wants. But I know, the only person who is a fraud is him. When I met him at the UFC PI in Las Vegas, he was there and he was very nice. He was friendly, ‘Hello, nice to meet you, all good.’ Right now, he’s a superstar and big gangster. He’s playing these games. He won the title against the worst performance of Alex Pereira.”
“He’s the only fraud here….” Jiri Prochazka concluded. “Right now, he’s a champion. But nobody respects that he’s a champion.”
At the moment, an immediate rematch between Pereira and Ankalaev appears to be the UFC plan. If Pereira opts to switch weight classes and pursue another fight, however, a bit of beef brewing between Prochazka and Ankalaev could help generate some 205-pound hype.
Insomnia
High drama on MMA Twitter regarding the UFC roster watching account(s), which should be the source of no drama. Maybe the hardest I’ve ever laughed while collecting content for this column?
PSA — Both UFC Roster Watch and Roster Tracker are now owned by the same person.
For those unaware, OG admin created Roster Watch, then sold it.
They then created Roster Tracker. Now the same guy who bought Roster Watch has now bought Roster Tracker too. https://t.co/0ntoYjT8za

Carlos Prates ripping cigs, being cool — the usual.
UFC 313 didn’t go very well for Rei Tsuruya, but this was a gorgeous drop seonagi.
I’m looking forward to seeing Anthony Hernandez matched up against a Top Five Middleweight next time out.
Khamzat Chimaev bullying 155’ers who moved up to 170 is not impressive for Anthony ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez, says Whittaker fight is the only one that was impressive.
Fluffy says that Khamzat’s cardio will be an issue when he faces Dricus Du Plessis.
